- KINGSLEY NORTH -
Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

- THE ROCK SHED -
I buy a lot of lapidary supplies from The Rock Shed. I don't make money from your purchases there, but they have good prices and good service. This is where I buy my finer grits and polish.

These husband and wife rock hunts are probably the most wholesome things I've seen on RUclips.
I'm glad you like them. We like doing them!
Those are so pretty. The first red flattish one looks like red jasper.
5:03 reminds me of Wyoming jade, where I'm from.
6:45 Idk what it is but I love it enough to send you back for it, lol.
No jade here that I know of, but I do like your Wyoming stuff.
I'm going horse yelling at you to pick up the right rocks. I guess I'll just have to come up and pick 'em myself.
Love your Vlog.
Picking them up yourself is always an option.
Hey Rob, I’m with the kids at the roller rink, can’t hear a word you’re saying. But, wow, I sure can see rocks! I’m sure the family would fill a five gallon bucket on that beach, and quick! So much variety!
Finally got rested and freed up from my chores to chime in again. The last big rock Rob was holding, what was that and did you take that with you? The stripes (bands?) were glorious! I’d tumble that and if it took even an ok shine, it would be on the dining room table where all the best of my tumbled rocks go.
Another fine production, great therapy video for those who enjoy the rocks, water, sounds and scenery, five stars on all of it!
That last rock appears to be very solid and has a somewhat waxy look. It was my favorite find that day. It's safely in my basement and I plan to slab it and make a two or three pendants out of it.
I used to prefer purely sand beaches, but once I started tumbling rocks I pick out beaches that have more rocks than sand. I spend more time staring at the ground than I do enjoying the beach itself 😂 Some cool finds today Rob, can't wait to see more!
I have no use for sandy beaches. Laying out in the sun is sort of torture for me. Looking for rocks is heaven though.
Hi, I am here in Georgia, near the Atlantic coast, by the islands, we only have sand. And only a few stones. Only shells, and they are broken, most of the time. But, I love stones. So,, I will walk with y'all!
@@marymole5531 The more, the merrier!
Every time i'm at a beautiful river or near the ocean, which does not happen often enough, i take one pretty rock like this as a keepsake. Every rock reminds me of a day hanging out near water somewhere and i instantly feel relaxed and a bit nostalgic
That's a cool souvenir to collect.
Love it Nancy is in the video. We did get some rocks in our Iowa exploration. We will be for some in South Dakota next. Your channel has opened our eyes to the world of rocks. Thank you.
South Dakota has some good rocks. I think the Fairburn agate is probably the best thing you could find there. Very rare from what I've heard.
@@MichiganRocks ok I will research it and see if I can find it. If I find 2 then I will send one to you lol.
Hey Rob and Nancy!! See, the game you play is...we yell out what you should grab and IF you grab the one we picked, we win the rock. lol :D The only caveat is, we have to go to Michigan, to that beach and find the rock :D
In most cases, that would be completely true because I usually leave them behind.
You were right. An incredible variety of rocks of every shape and color. I'm glad she found an agate for the team. Keep having fun. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Most of the rocks look like things I've seen before. Lots of granite, for example. But you just never know when you're going to find an oddball.
@@MichiganRocks now that's the truth.
Beautiful day out there Rob. Thanks for sharing your hard work and passion, it's inspiring. Amazing finds from you and Nancy, love the variety. Lake Superior is gorgeous and peaceful. Thanks for the journey!
Rocks as far as you can see! What a great variety! 👍🏻😍
Very cool rock hunting! Really lot's of lovely rocks...
Thanks for all the info Rob! I’m following your tumbling methods with great success! Thanks!
I'm glad that's working out for you, Mike!
3:25 rob that’s gorgeous! i love how buttery it looks in color & texture
It's awesome that you and your wife go rockhounding together! Fun bonding time!
Yes it is. She's been going out with me more often lately.
Heads up to Michiganders the tic’s are here. So check yourself and your pets and have a great season!😊
PS. I play that game every time 😂
Who is winning at the game? I never know what the score is. Thanks for the tick advisory.
@@MichiganRocks you are definitely winning lol 😂
Love this video! My 4 year old grandson was having a fit! He was saying oooohhhh get that one, get that one!! I love it!
Tell him to yell louder so I can hear him.
@@MichiganRocks I told him, he said when he he hears me will he get them and bring them home? Too funny.
Hahahahah oh Rob you got me good on this video…i cringed with my entire body when you dropped that brachiated jasper/basalt piece😂👏
One day you need to do a blacklight night rock hounding adventure and find some fluorescent rocks

I really appreciate the beauty, wonder, and thankfulness in your videos. I'm currently unable to get out much, but your videos make me feel as though I'm rockhounding right along with you. Your relaxing adventures helped me through recovery from recent surgery and are giving me a wonderful distraction during chemo. Thank you.
I'm really sorry you're going through that, Lisa. I just added you to my prayer list. When I started doing videos, I never thought they'd serve a purpose like you just described, but I have had a lot of people tell me similar stories. It's a shame that some people can't get out anymore, but I'm really glad to be taking you along virtually.
Wow -- thank you for adding me to your prayer list!
My wife and I came up from Brownstown to do rock hunting. We were in Frankfort,Traverse City over to Mackinaw City on Friday, then Brevort to Paradise today.
I appreciate your videos as I am a amateur in this field, I find your videos very helpful.
Hopefully you found a few keepers.
We found a lot of beauties off Lake Huron near St Ignace
@@kevinbushsr7533 Really? I wouldn't think there would be great rocks there. I tried a beach up there once that was covered in sawdust, probably from an old saw mill. That's the only beach I have been to in that area, though. I stopped in Mackinaw City, very close to the bridge a couple weeks ago and it was mostly limestone. I guess I'll have to give St. Ignace another try.
Looks like a great day!
Nice walk, great rock. Thanks Rob & Nancy.
I play, throw that rock in my bucket! Lol. 😀
Absolutely beautiful rocks. 🫶 Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow what a lot of pretty finds. Did you keep many ? Saw a few I would love the see cut and polished. Love the purple ones. That's my favorite color. I hope we can make it to the UP at least one time this year. Still seeing several specialists to get my health back in order. It's nothing too serious, just still can't work the way I am. So for now I live through watching several videos from my favorite RUclips people.
I didn’t bring too many home, but I took that really purple one home. I cut the end off it and glued it to a two by four. I’ll cut the rest soon.
Was it real pretty inside too? That one I would love to see.
@@donnalantz7981 It looks pretty much exactly the same as the outside so far.
Thank you for letting me know. It sure was a pretty rock.
The Rock at 13:00 is awesom with the colored stripes, i took your advice and bought my first Lot-O tumbler about 2 weeks ago love it. I had to adjust the dowl rod under the springs like you did as well. Thanks fo rthat video too. Happy rockhounding.
Do you have your first batch done yet? That's when you'll really love it.
@@MichiganRocks oh yes, i did smokey and rose quartz.
Absolutely awesome finds. That smoth stick looked really pretty. All the striped rocks were really cool .😍🥰😇👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
“Mystery Rock Beach” looks like a fun place to go. Looks like you two had a good day.
It's a great beach!
I love the unakite. Lots of speckled rocks on that beach
Lots of granite here, but also a lots of other stuff.
So much fun…. Thank you!🇨🇦
Rob, you are playing the game well, every rock I wanted to look at today, you walked straight past. If I take screen shots and circle them, can you go back and take a closer look please.. 🤪 Thanks for sharing another great video and team effort.
It's like a carnival game or a casino game. It's stacked for the house to win.
Amazing lake sir, lots of beautiful beautiful rocks there.
There sure are. That's why I keep going back.
I was there last Summer! Stayed way after dark, and found 8 Fluorescent Sodalite! Headed back, was alone, and couldn’t find the metal stairs out! Finally did, saw someone’s car lights. But dropped my keys, and had to go back and find them in the sand! Drove my RV from Muskallonge to Gran Marais. Had to stop four times to pick up stuff that fell over! I would have kept the double Omar!
That’s one of my fears about collecting sodalite. The two times I went out looking for them, I started from a campground, so it wasn’t too hard to find my way back.
great eyes you 2. so fun. rock on
Nice hunt. I like a lot of different rocks, but I'd have a hard time leaving behind any of those omars. I'm sure that isn't spelled right. That game you mentioned...I have played quite often, but you do real well avoiding what I think you should pickup!!
I have brought home omars before, but then I don't know what to do with them. They're also fairly common, so I know I can get some anytime I want.
Oh I love that game! Pick up the little red one on the right… No the other one! Lol
I think you might be in the minority. I think most people hate that game.
@@MichiganRocks , they don’t have any fun with it…
It’s tough when there are so many rocks and so few agates. Good video rob! 😎
But the non agates can be really fun to find too.
4:32 rock looked like a honey bun lol. I would have not been able to leave without it 😁
That rock had some interesting texture. Definitely an unusual one.
GIGANTIC LAKE
itty bitty sign
Fun video. Interesting rocks. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t live around the Great Lakes. I never get anything done. Except for getting a crick in my neck from walking the beach looking down.
That sign cracks me up every time I see it. You’d have to really not be paying attention to not know that was Lake Superior.
So many speckled rocks ! My favorite are the black ones laced with white ,which I’m assuming is calcite,, I polish everyone I find .. Thanks for Sharing
I don't think there's too much calcite on this beach, but I don't know that for sure. The black and white speckled ones might be diorite.
Interesting videos,I have learnend a lot.Thanks
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Jose.
As our Autumn ( Fall ) is almost done and the winter is approaching your spring is ending and soon it will be summer and we will enjoy your rock hunting on the beach more ! Thank you and Nancy for taking us along on your adventures come snow or shine 💖💐🙏🏻
if you hunt during your summer and watch me during your winter, you’d be able to see good rocks year round.
@@MichiganRocks the problem is I do not hunt for rocks myself , but let others do the hard work and I enjoy just watching 😂😂😂
@@easterazali9237 I guess I should feel like I'm being taken advantage of, but the truth is, I feel like you're missing out on the real fun. I just love getting outside for the day.
@@MichiganRocks I’m truly sorry if I made feel like that I didn’t mean it like that at all ! 🤭😞
I know how much fun it must be , but I don’t have the advantage of havin lakes or rivers with rocks close enough to do it and our beaches are all sandy beaches 💖
@@easterazali9237 Nah, I was just kidding around. Lots of people live vicariously though my videos.
My eyes would shut down trying to find any thing in all that. Wow.
I don’t focus on individual rocks much. I just scan and look for something different.
@@MichiganRocks they’re all interesting to me, therein the problem. Hopefully get to check Superior out next spring. Love the video!
Enjoyed the video. I always see rocks that you pass by and think to myself he missed a beauty. 🤣
I'm sure I miss plenty of beauties. There are just so many to look at!

I never heard of that park. Did you find anything good?
@@MichiganRocks wasn’t a great day for rocks but did find lots of beach glass and a few small petoskey.
Sooooo many beautiful rocks... soooo little space at home!!! 🤪
I know, that’s why I leave so many on the beach!
Lovely channel! I’ve always been fascinated with rocks.
You should like most of my videos then, since that's the theme. Rock are fun, aren't they?
Boy that looks cold! Not as cold as last week, but cold non the less! Pretty rocks though! Being from Oregon, We dont have the same kinds of rocks or the variety that you do there, so its very different to look at a beach covered in rocks and every one is colorful and pretty! Our beaches are sandy with the few scattered stones. So every rock you walk past, im screaming at the tv, pick it up! lol! Thanks for the the beach walk and the chuckle this morning!
This video was actually filmed immediately after the video from last week. Same day, just a little later. It was just a tad warmer, but not much.
Allways Nice to see you uppload! This takes me back to when i was a kid and was collecting rocks aswell haha !
It's not too late to go back to childhood hobbies.

I would like to meet you on one of those Superior shores some day that would be fun.
@@greatnorthernviews3052 Be sure to say hi if you see me.
I'm on my way back to Utah and Straight down from those stairs I got three agates. Got about 70 yooperlite 2 we're blood red not orange. They were a different rock than the normal yooperlite rocks. Had a great time love watching you
Finding three agates right there is really amazing. You'd think that would be one of the most picked over spots on the beach.
I wish to have my Lake Superior Agates tumbles someday !!!😁
Wish I was there ❣️. Hope to be there this summer to hunt again . Happy hunting 🥰
2:50 good one nancy!
That one was very interesting.
I think it would be cool at the end of your videos if you showed us a peek in your bucket to see which ones you actually kept. You show so many cool ones, but I always wonder which ones make it home!
There wasn’t too much in there. I have done slide shows at the end of my rock tumbling videos and they weren’t very popular. I think showing rocks in my bucket that everyone has already seen would be about the same.
You picked it up this time but didn't keep it at 5:42! Hahaaha I would have loved to see that beauty cut and polished! Thanks for yet another rockin adventure!
That one was a close call. I could easily have brought it home, but opted not to. Cutting and cabbing would have been the way to go with that one.
"That's unakite......which you probably already know" I was shaking my head as you said it and said aloud "nope, not yet!" lol, I'll get there though! Thanks for sharing another great trip with us :)
I pick up a lot of that, so if you’ve watched many of my videos, you’d know. It’s a great rock.
@@MichiganRocks I've definitely watched a good chunk now, just not quite there with my visual identification, I still rely on your expertise, but I'm getting there :)
@@Algorhythmz Yep, it takes a little practice. I'm still not sure about a lot of rocks myself.
I like Rocks.
Drove up to our Michigan place Wednesday. Went rock hunting this morning but the beach was all sanded in and I brought back four tiny stones. I really liked the multicolored striped one at 13:00.
It hit 94 degrees here yesterday!
That was easily my favorite. We were in Ohio this weekend, so I missed the warm weather here. It sure was nice there though, and they have leaves on the trees!
There were a few that I wanted you to pick up that you missed. I agree. Lots of variety and color on that beach. I really liked the striped rock at the end. I hope that it came home with you. I didn’t hear a water plunk. Still cold, but at least no more snow. When does it warm up there?
It just warmed up. It was like someone flipped a switch. I brought home the really nice unakite that I found near the end. Is that the one you were referring to?
@@MichiganRocks It was the rock at 12:56 of the video.
@@sparband That one is in my basement. I'll be cutting it and making a pendant out of it. That was my favorite rock from that beach.
Fantastic video.
I'm sure I saw you walk past a couple of Agates 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No I'm kidding.
Lots of pretty rocks.
Love that mystery one, I hope you took it home.
I love Brecciated stones, im tumbling some beautiful ones at the moment. Also sliced one up for pendants.
I'm 100% sure I walk past lots of agates every time. I picked up a big, weird rock in a video last fall and a couple people who I know know a lot about agates told me that it probably was one. I was sort of sick about that. Actually, I still am.
@@MichiganRocks oh that's frustrating, I recently left one behind on the river, and I regret it 🤣🤣
Wish I was there!
What a variety of rocks! Lots of granitoids and metamorphics.
Nancy's rock at 5:00 looks like either chert (what Nat says) or a dirty quartzite (what I say). Either way, some sort of microcrystalline quartz.
I need to get one of those for you to look at in person sometime. They're pretty common on the beaches up there, have several colors in them, and are somewhat translucent. I have a hard time not picking up every one of them just in case it's an agate.
Good morning, I love going on a walk with you both. I don't know what the name of most rocks. You have been teaching me some of them. Thank you. I want to pick up rocks, there are so many, there by the lakes. I've never been to Michigan. It is so beautiful.
I'm a collector, so I want to pick up so many. And, yes, I would tell you to pick up one, and you would pick up another. What are the darker green-blue stones you never pick up or look at. Do they have a name or are they just common and not much of anything?
Any, thank you, again! I do love your state rock, the patosky (if I spelled that correctly).
I don't know the names of all the rocks, either. When I do, I try to mention it on camera. I'm not sure which blue-green rocks you're referring to, but there are several different kinds of rocks like that that all look very similar.
The Petoskey stones is our state stone.
Oh Em Gee!! I LOVE OMARS!!! You are so good and disciplined to be able to put some of the rocks back… When I was doing the yelling -at -the -screen- game, lol ha ha ha I was thinking about the fact that I probably wouldn’t have been able to carry the rocks back to my car, because I would’ve had my 5 gallon bucket filled up by the 7:38 time marker🤣🤣🤣
If you're not careful, this hobby will give you very long arms.
Did the stripey rock 12:57 make it into the bucket ?
I often play the shout at the television game, without realising I'm going to participate 😯
It sure did. That was my favorite rock from that beach. I'm planning to slab it and make it into pendants.
13:90 😯 wow
Stones look very colorful today. I still do not know how you choose! What will polish, what will slab, what will fit in the tumbler? I'm seeing Easter Eggs everywhere! I mean fossilized bird eggs.
I try to really limit what I take home so I don't end up with more than I can use. Some rocks are perfectly good rocks, but just more than I need. It's hard to say exactly what goes into making that decision.
Very cool rocks! Always enjoy tagging along with you both. I don't bother trying to tell you what to pick up (or keep), you wouldn't get more than a few feet an hour and need a dump truck to haul it all😂
That's a smart attitude, anything else will just frustrate you.
@@MichiganRocks 😉
Nice trip to the beach. I still think the green rock(your perfect rock) looks like a variety of serpentine called infinite...its so pretty but not sure about it being found in your area.I found and botryoidal or eye agate on the beach the other day....not common In my area...and it's green! (On Instagram)Happy hunting. Also I hope you kept the second rock with purple.
I haven't heard of infinite serpentine, but if it's like that rock, I think I'd like it.
Eye agates are some of my favorite rocks, so finding one of those would be a really thrill.
@@MichiganRocks I was very excited
I usually yell at the screen; “ Nooooo!”after you say “that’s neat……bloop”. 🤣
La, la, la! I can't heeeaaar you!
Like the videos, I found a little piece of banded chert on a Boulder in the parkinglot of a little beach on lake michigan this spring and figured you may have been through there. I have to share a cheeky 6 year old comment with you, the wickedness of children lol. You picked up a rock and said "this is the kind I like to take home." My daughter pipes up with a big grin "hey, he got one right!" I think I have my hands full with that one.
Nope, that wasn't me for two reasons. First, I haven't been there this year. Second, I'd never leave a good piece of banded chert behind! I love that stuff.
@@MichiganRocks that thought had also occurred to me:) I just realized should have mentioned my daughter considers all rocks pudding stones at the moment, she watches your videos with me and isn't really sure how anything else outranks pudding lol. Gotta start somewhere. I'm pretty new to this stuff to and I was wondering if you had an suggestions for where I might get information on identifying rocks I don't recognize. I've found a few this year I don't recall seeing before and can often find similar examples but never quite the same. Or would you be willing to have a go at them? The fossils are even worse because there's usually 100 different species that look just alike. Anyways, I appreciate you taking the time to comment back and I'll say hello if I spot you out there(I'm in manistee so typical stomping grounds are here and north). Ever find out what the weird big green/black one was?
Remember we were questioning if shells could be polished in a rock tumbler? Well I tumbled some of the hard shells in a tumbler. Vibratory would be better. I made beads first then tumbled the shell beads. I added a small amount of copper. I shouldn't have. It is semi polished. Next is with polishing grit and tile spacers. It will work but is going to take time.
I have some shells to play with. I'm going to try dry corn cob media like with Petoskeys. I can't remember if I suggested this to you before. ruclips.net/video/grSlZ835VDo/видео.html
Hi Nancy!!
Nancy says hi.
Awesome hunt. Your so lucky you can see what a rock is. I just finished my first good tumbler of some rocks. Most of what I pick up is covered by an outer shell. I was so surprised to find about 80% of this tumbled batch to be translucent. I also found what appeared to be petrified wood and several filled with fossil bits. Small shells ect. I also have some milky quartz. I have a new batch going can't wait to see what I will get.
I love translucent rocks, so that would be a really nice surprise for me. Sounds like you're finding some good stuff.
@@MichiganRocks yes I don't think their agates. Just quartz with something inside. The quartz is a smoky color. The brighter rocks are jaspers and such.
11:20 Jupiter!
“the game is: you yell at the screen and tell me what to pick up, and I pick up anything but that” 🤣
I imagine all those rocks on the beach yelling "pick me, pick me!"
There would be a lot of disappointed rocks if that was the case.
* So many striped rocks today.. & Yes, I play that game with you.. I don't yell, I Point.. Thought I saw petrified wood. But, I am sure you would have picked it up If it were..
There isn't much petrified wood in Michigan, although there are some lookalikes. I doubt that what you saw was petrified wood.
You pick them up but you put them back down! Sometimes I get tired of this game !😊
Who wins if I pick up the one you want but put it down?
was just thinking, there are two ways of viewing your videos: meditative in which one just waits to see what you find, and active in which one looks at the stuff you don't pick up. I don't shout at the screen but past me would have. 🙂
Probably better to just sit back and enjoy it instead of getting all worked up.
@@MichiganRocks agreed
That’s a beautiful spot, found my prettiest and smallest agate ever there. Sorry Nancy only found one wannabe.
Some of my best agates are really small. Then again, I get pretty excited about big ones too, even if they're not quite as pretty.
I had just started "playing the game" right before you explained it to the new viewers, I thought you passed one that might have been a agate.😆 As many videos as I've watched of yours I can sometimes guess which rock you're going to pick up when you stop to pick one up. You saved some good tumblers and the ones Nancy showed were pretty cool too. I think the 3 bright colored mystery rocks may have been rhyolite. Rhyolite slabs and cabs well and tumbles well also, it's around a 6 in hardness so a little softer than agate. Thanks for taking us along Rob & Nancy!✌️🤠
You can always be sure he’ll grab white quartz and the “stripey” ones. 😄
@@TinaHyde or yellow/orange quartz.😊
Gosh, am I that predictable? Yes, I probably am. We all have our favorites, I guess.
The mystery rocks are not rhyolite. They're translucent and rhyolite is not. I know a couple of geologists. I need to grab one of those next time I'm up there and have them take a look at them in person.
@@MichiganRocks Speaking of the geologists you know, grab that one who fathered your grandson and get some footage of that precious baby!
At least you know we are paying attention and watching all of your videos! I love your channel and have learned a lot from you. Your polished rocks are the best ones I've ever seen too. I bet those bright, colorful rocks would look great tumbled and/or slabbed. Please let us know what they are when you find out. Thanks for taking a little teasing and for all of you great work and videos Rob. You are appreciated!
how do you decide which rocks to keep and which to leave? there are tons of rocks i see you pick up that i think look beautiful but you leave them like the one @2:15 is it cause you know they don't tumble well? or something else?
There are a variety of factors. The biggest one is that I don't have time to tumble all of them. I like tumbling Michigan rocks, but I also like tumbling things from other places. I don't bring home more than I think I can do something with.
Sometimes a rock is interesting, but I don't think it will tumble well. Sometimes, it's nice, but just doesn't make the cut to be nice enough to tumble. Sometimes it's a rock that I have tumbled a lot of and I don't feel the need to tumble more of it. Unakite is a good example of that. Unless it's just an amazing example of it, I don't take it home. I did take the unakite in the thumbnail home because it was just that good.
@@MichiganRocks That makes sense, thank you for your reply. I stumbled on your channel as it popped up on my feed and am now thinking about giving it a try, if i can find an inexpensive tumbler somewhere
@@TheAciddragon069 There are links to the Rock Shed and Kingsley North in the description of all my videos. They both carry good tumblers at good prices. I really like Lortone rotary tumblers.
Lots of rocks!!..I see unakite is popping up alot! I can't believe how much lakeshore is there. Water level is that far down eh?
The beaches in this area are always wide, even when the water was higher.
SOOOOO many rocks i wanted you to pick up 😂😂😂😭
That last rock with all the stripes is magnificent! Is it hard enough to polish?
I sure hope so. It's in the basement, but I haven't done anything with it yet. I plan to cut it and make pendants with it.
Love your videos Rob! I would like to get into rock tumbling, but I live in a condo and I am worried about the noise. Do you have any advice?
That's a tough one. You have to be careful about covering the tumbler because it can overheat the motor. If you did make a cover out of styrofoam or something, make sure you leave the motor outside. Putting the base on something soft, like a towel, can help too. A smaller diameter tumbler will be quieter than a larger diameter. For example, a Lortone 33B is much quieter than a Lortone QT66. The motor is at the end of the tumbler, so it would be easier to build a cover for just the tumbler part.
If you're on a second floor with someone below you, that would be worse than someone next door, I would think.
Put that in the bucket, woo nancy too. Can you hear me. Hello😂😂.
Huh? Speak up!
Rob, great videos. Thanks for doing them. Just starting to get into rocks identification and hunting. Wife and I moved up close to Mackinaw and it has a great (all Michigan, I believe) rock garden. There was one rock that I thought was a Leland blue but not sure after one of your videos. I say “was” because someone stole it. It was more of a translucent aqua color, size of a lime. Anyway, any idea on type of rock it might be? Not sure if it is a Michigan rock or not.
I wouldn't know what that was if it wasn't Leland Blue. They do come in various shades of blue and even green.
@@MichiganRocks thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. So can Leland blue be translucent? If so, then it must have been that. Thanks again! Happy rock hunting!
@@rcambo4818 I think it can be translucent, but I have only found a few pieces. I'd have to go dig some out to be sure.
Great last find there. Very pretty rock. I have a question for a math teacher: I have a circle with a 1 5/16" diameter (33.3375 mm), what are the lengths of the legs in an equilateral triangle that fits said circle? I keep getting 10 mm and I know that's not right.
Yeah, ignore that last part. Operator error. 28.871 mm, or a hair over 1 1/8". One of those days.
Split it into two right triangles and use a^2 + b^2 = c^2 to find the lengths of the sides.
I've been out of town for three days and I'm WAY behind on comments. Are you saying you have this figured out? If so, I'm not going to take the time to look at it for you. If not, I'll look at it tomorrow.
@@MichiganRocks Yeah, I got it. Kept making the same mistake. FYI, that's the inner diameter of a Mag Lite. Can you guess what I'm making?
@@Ken_G. Kalidescope!
There s a few Rocky points at the bottom of whitefish if you head that way on the way home
I have been to Whitefish Point a couple of times. There are just way too many people there with the museum being right there. I prefer a little more secluded beaches.
@@MichiganRocks go to the bottom of the bay. There's also a lots of good spots between there and munising . Thanks for the videos!
11:10 👍🏻
You're not looking for dumb rocks you're looking for rocks with character
I'm going, get that one, no...the other one. Hahaha! 😅
You and everyone else. It's really hard to tell what you're saying when everyone else is yelling at the same time.
Ok... Regarding the game you mentioned Rob - why not make a live session so we can actually ask and you could check a rock for us, or maybe take one or two home and cut them or tumble them? Short 30minute livestream - so we won't ruin your trip!
The main problem would be the lack of any cell signal on a lot of the beaches I hunt.
Hi Rob and Nancy, talk about cold water you're braver than I am
Nancy stayed out of the water and I wore boots, so I don’t think we’re all that brave.
