I just watched an interview with Megan Hilty, some of the questions asked here were answered during that interview. According to Megan Hilty, she is a classically trained coloratura soprano, who can belt. She was invited to audition to be a standby by for the role of Glinda in Wicked after a showcase she performed in her Senior year of college. She stated that she wasn't familiar with the show, other than its reputation. The producers allowed her to see the show, for the first time, prior to her audition. She never auditioned for the role of Elphaba. When asked if she'd ever want to play the role of Elphaba she stated that she loved playing Glinda, and that she was too short to meet the heighth requirement to even audition for the role.
They were the broadway cast at one point. The Blonde on (Megan Hilty) played Glinda and The Brunette (Shoshana Bean) played Elphaba. The point of the show was to do a role swap. :)

She said she was shocked how Kristen did the role so well and stuff. Then she said, after the show she went to her hotel room, and she was saying stuff like "Maybe I'm not as pretty as Kristen (etc)" like she was doubting herself. But after all, she still got the role.

it wasn't with upright cabaret, i believe (hence it not being in west hollywood or palm springs-where upright does their shows). i think this was for a charity of some kind? i forget =]
lol. at a musical themed karaoke night. She has a beyond amazing voice don't get me wrong, but Glinda she is not! She was damn funny though. Dianne on the other hand was absolutley amazing at no good deed, however much i dislike her.

kraig amendt I really want to be Elphaba someday but I'm only 15 and 5'0. Maybe 5'2 by now but I'm not sure.
