Clearly there is onboard air. I can't imagine having a little 10gal tank onboard to run an air gun would be a problem. Would certainly speed things up. They could also use a stronger electric impact, upping it to a 3/4 would also be faster.
Running a hose to the front tyre and then putting it back will be a problem. They have been racing and winning for more than 30 years, they have thought about it.
@@MrPaukann i mean, they gotta do that to run the air jack they are using. Upping it to a 1/2" hose to run a 3/4" gun would be harder to move than the little 1/4" hose but still easy, especially if you use a hose reel. I guess I just don't see the issue with it.

The way to speed up the nut removal and keep the fluid in everyone's eyes is to use an impact socket!!!!!! The thicker walls are part of the socket for strength and inertia. I seriously can't believe the engineer of the team (middle seat guy) let there be a chrome socket attached to that gun, or with all the different safety checks the truck goes through, like do you have a way to remove the lug nuts it passed.
I’m new to the Dakar. Are these truck just another racing machine or are they intended to be a support vehicle? The truck doesn’t look like it was carrying any spare parts.
2 impact wrenches, keep the jack connected the airline and get a steel plate with some bolts through it for grip to sit it on rather than a random bit of wood.
A Nut pouch ( not a ballsack 😂) 2 impact guns A retractable air hose so it’s not tangled Air jacks with a big foot print that are individually controlled 👍🏼👊🏼👌🏼
Why not thread next nut while you tighten the previous one? I've done this working in auto garages. No star pattern? No jack stand? If that bottle jack had slipped in a high pressure race situation that guy could have been crushed under that axle when I came swinging down. Having a second impact would have been much faster. In a race you don't need to put gloves on if you're already wearing them. Magnetic tray Velcro'd to the impact might save your ass in the dunes. There's probably 30 seconds to gain here.
I was expecting the truck to have its own hydraulic jacking system to be honest. Pneumatic powered bottle jacks are a thing of the past, so many better options now.
@@MrPaukann I know that just saying there’s better ways. They use a Milwaukee impact that means they can use a Milwaukee cordless hydraulic power pac, use a hydraulic Ram and leave the air line alone.
