I love everything they do. Just discovered them last week and bought all their records. Such a great voice and a beautiful music. Hope they'll do more and more.
Suede with Bernard Butler and without Bernard Butler are two different things. When he was in the band there was, in a way, 2 vocalists in the band because he always played some lead guitar thing under Anderson's vocals, which is unusual and actually can be very annoying for the band's "real" vocalist because those guitar melodies restrain your freedom to write any kind of vocal melody. So after he left, the vocals went to where they really belong, the center of everything. That being said, this weird interplay between Butler's genius guitar and Anderson's singing was the thing that made Suede REALLY REALLY cool, unique and infectious... WHEN this interplay actually worked, of course, because while I think it worked brilliantly in some songs, in some others it simply didn't.
so lest that 1 million people watch this music video while there are hundred-millions-viewer videos out there.. but I am so happy be part of this less-than-1-million viewer because I am part of this New Generation..
What more do you want from Suede? A great melody, awesome guitar hooks, cool vid, some horns and uptempo, with a great Brett guitar solo at the end...also, the lyrics are great! Of course, off Dog Man Star (one of the best Brit LP's ever!)
i agree wih you, i mean their homonym form 93 was really raw and direct, very fascinating for its decadent atmosphere and flagellant sound, but their second album just one year after was SO elaborated and sofisticated that can easily be considered as their best work, somehow i miss that rawness......but i love how poetic and romantic ended up their DMS (even the name of the album is so brilliant) .....i dont care it people consider this one as more britpop than the previous just cuz its more produced and elaborated
JUST BEAUTIFULL !!!! one of the best song made in the 90s , IMH-E-O So brilliant he reference, you can see the Velvet Underground and most specific The Factory oof Warhold with all those peculiar people just surrounding and letting their souls go with the music......and the riff and those lyrics are so touching and captivating that make me believe that i'm lost walking throught in the Elysian Fields in Paris in the bottom of its decadence just playing the poet maudit for a while.....
Even in my deathbed when I'm 99 years old, even then I'll always belong to the "New Generation"...Que viva los 90's & Que viva SUEDE for ever, dammit!! ; D
+sergio sozi nel video c'era già il nuovo chitarrista Richard Oakes, ma la canzone in realtà è registrata e suonata dal loro primo chitarrista Bernard Butler
as a fan of both I would agree, however why compare the two? I do love both and they both hold a place in my heart. I say Jarvis more than Bernard tho! lol
"And like all the boys in all the cities I take the poison take the pity But she and I we soon discovered We'd take the pills to find each other" In the 90's, no I didn't like that lyric too much, in fact it was scary ! Fair to say though these weren't a bad band, just slightly scary in some way.
"dog man star", one of the best albums of the last 20 years.
New Generation...The best generation, 90's

I love everything they do. Just discovered them last week and bought all their records. Such a great voice and a beautiful music. Hope they'll do more and more.
