    Demonstration: • Homemade Cyclone Vacuu...
    Building a highly efficient cyclone that can be used either to go along a shop vac to keep the kartrige filter clean or as demonstrated in the video to turn a cenventional vacuum cleaner into a shop vac.
    Fun Fact: Festool straight out copied my system for their Festool CT Vorabscheider CT-VA-20.

    You never cease to amaze me Cosmas. You are the epitome of German ingenuity. I enjoy watching and learning from you. Keep up the unselfishness. As soon as my workshop is presentable, i too will share the little knowledge i have in woodworking. Thanks dude!

    Nice. I have seen many made, but I think yours is the easiest by using the PVC pipe. I really like the way you showed the pantarouter and the common way to cut the hole. I will be using the common method. Thanks again. I will try again

    Great worksmanship and technique. I bought one of these things from Rockler.com and it really works well.
    I particularly liked the part where the builder paid no attention whatsoever to workplace rules like drilling into a piece of wood with his hand on the other side, routing with his hands holding the part, using his fingers to guide a part an inch from the bandsaw blade, jigsawing using his hand and stomach to support the part. Hope he has a good medical plan because I would be missing fingers and other body parts.

      In the USA we have OSHA workplace rules which is a good thing but they overdo and employers send jobs to China to protect themselves from excess costs, lawsuits & fines for infractions caused by them or their employees. Add other bureaucratic costs imposed on them, restrictions on who they must employ and how they must employ them, etc. and manufacturers can't fight the economic forces arrayed against them here. The present pseudo-Free Trade regime also hurts & Fair Trade will work no better. Perhaps Equal Trade enforced by automatic tax penalties & no deductions would work better.
      Politicians & bureaucrats have few restraints against their behavior and willfulness and chose to do whatever suits them at any particular time regardless of who it ultimately hurts. I hope your medical costs can be alleviated to some degree.
      As far as Mr Cosmas is concerned, I admire anyone who can improve his standard of living by making & fixing things himself.

    Great Project, very well done... Something you might want to consider for next time is to drill holes in your Exit Pipe rather then cut a rectangle like you did. You could drill smaller holes and a bit for more of them but drilling holes allows for a stronger tail piece to hold the baffle. It just seems to me that time will cause your baffle to bend down or perhaps break off.
    I really do like your design and it's one of the best DIY I've viewed, and I think I've viewed them all or at the very least 95% of all on RUclips... I've seen other builds that just seemed as if they took 3 times the longer way to accomplish their task that it almost made me think perhaps this is not for me. Your design as renewed my spirit to make one for myself...

  • @niklar55

    The 'box' that you inserted the collector bucket into, could be extended, and the cyclone device mounted directly onto the box, thereby eliminating the bucket.

    • @MarkJonesRanger
      @MarkJonesRanger 4 года назад

      then you have to take the whole thing to the dumpster to dump it. The bucket solves that problem.

    • @niklar55

      @@MarkJonesRanger
      No you dont, all you do is put a plastic bag in the box as a receiver, then lift the plastic bag out and dispose.

    • @MarkJonesRanger
      @MarkJonesRanger 4 года назад

      @@niklar55 Good point. I empty mine about every week. I have never used the plastic bags. A box of trash bags isn't that expensive and the mess would be less just pulling the bags tight instead of dumping the bucket or dumpster (with planner chips in it) in the dumpster. I have a ring on the dust deputy barrel and all the stuff comes in from the top. I may try that trash bag thing. It's pretty easy now to just dump the barrel and not fiddle with the bags. Yet it would be less dusty to use the bags.

    • @niklar55
      @niklar55 4 года назад

      It takes a lazy man......😉
      If you have the bucket, just put the bag in the bucket, roll the edges over the bucket and assemble.
      I have a 4'' Vac, with just a bag, but holding the bag in place, and then trying to fit the ring clamp around it with one hand...., damn difficult so that's due for a mod. I'll probably use something like reinforcing mesh, to make a simple cage for the bag to sit in.

    Very nice work. A couple of questions: What kind of pipe did you use for the main body of the separator? Do you get much find dust back into the vacuum with your baffle setup? Thanks.

    • @CosmasBauer
      @CosmasBauer  8 лет назад +1

      It is 1 50mm PVC pipe. Almost no dust gets into the vacuum cleaner.

    • @larsonbennett5903
      @larsonbennett5903 8 лет назад

      Thanks. I was referring to the very large orange pipe that makes the body of the cyclone. It appears to be be may 8 to 10 inches in diameter. Is that PVC or some other material? Is it generally available at a home center store? Thanks again for a very cool project. It looks very efficient.

    OSB ist nicht gerade geeignet, da das Luftduchlässig ist!!!. Durch das Plexiglas, wird es zwar dicht, hätte dennoch Multiplex genommen. Ansonsten tolle Sache.👍😁

    • @CosmasBauer
      @CosmasBauer  5 лет назад +1

      Sehr gut erkannt. Durch das Plexiglas wird es abgedichtet. Allerdings würde die Durchlässigkeit bei dem Druck und dem Luftvolumen keine Rolle spielen. Das macht sich erst bei Vakuumaufspanngeschichten bemerkbar.

    • @The_DC_Kid
      @The_DC_Kid 7 лет назад

      As well as changing the appearance, paint protects the surface it's applied to. Raw wood looks and smells good in the beginning but it pretty much absorbs any liquid you might spill on it, causing stains. Did you notice the top of his more well-worn wokbenches? I've done plenty of projects on my 3/4" ply benches that look really nice when first installed, but stains, burns, cuts, dents and accidental drill holes begin to appear quickly, eventually making recovering needed (or wanted). I have bare plywood covering some walls, and over the years there is a lot of unsightly stains and grime in general. Can't wash the stuff, but I could primer and paint over the stains; or I could have done that when I first put up the walls and I could now wash them.
