Can you imagine having 2 children, both studying piano everyday at home and both becoming international concert celebrities playing together... This is prodigious!

Each time I listen to them, a new moment of such amazement at the performance. I am convinced these two young men represent one of those moments of genius heard or seen so rarely in the arts. You recognize it when it happens immediately. It is not just the perfection of the simultaneous attack, it is the ability to feel the composer's intent, find your own interpretation, and offer it to the audience. We are all blessed to find these two in our lifetime.

These guys should be plastered over every theatre in the world. They are the epitome of classical music - smart, refined, sexy, enigmatic and bloody hard working!!! Their interpretation and performances are just so gorgeous. So hoping they will come to Australia.

What is so amazing is not just that they play so together, but that they seem to have the same technical, musical, and tone quality approach to the instrument. I have never heard this kind of "oneness" in a piano duo before. Listening to their performances, especially Mozart, Fauré, and Schubert they seem to have also impeccable taste in their playing. Their playing is never mannered or artificial, but beautifully musical. I, for one, am amazed and very delighted to have discovered this duo.

I think it come from the fact they are brothers. When my girls sung in competitions, the adjudicator mentioned how their voices match which you wouldn't find in a group made up of members from different families.

    • @catherinejones9396

I'm sure Schubert, could have imagined it, though not with a Steinway grand piano, (though he would surely have hoped for this Rolls Royce of pianofortes). I think he would have enjoyed hearing his music still played so well and so much enjoyed today.

Absolutely beautiful!! Please, would you consider releasing an all-Schubert recording? Nothing would make me gladder. He is my favorite composer, and I’ve just watched you both perform three absolutely beautiful pieces of his on your RUclips channel.
I had the pleasure of watching you both perform his Fantasy in F Minor last Sunday afternoon in Chicago at Symphony Center. What a gift and an honor to witness that entire concert live, but especially that most beautiful Fantasy he wrote for four hands. You both performed his incredibly breathtaking work exquisitely.
If you would consider releasing that piece again, as well as many other of Schubert’s duo compositions (and any of his solo piano pieces, as it would be wonderful to hear you each play Schubert individually), I would be so very grateful.
I hope to see such a recording someday. But even if not, I thank you for the gift of your passion for music and your talent… and for your outstanding recordings/performances.
    Awestruck!!

Perfection! Wunderkinde! This is a genius that only comes along once in several generations - instantly recognisable as something way beyond ordinary - even beyond greatness. It is the equality and naturalness with which they both interpret the music, without giving in to self-indulgent, technical acrobatics - which they would obviously be capable of, if they chose. It is the music first and foremost.

Would someone who knows please comment on their fingers and technique? They both have relatively flat fingers and a relaxed and deep-into-the-keys technique that seems to allow great independence and speed. (Reminds me a bit of Horowitz ' ) Obviously, the results are wonderful. I wonder where they learned their technique, who their teacher was, and how unusual it is?

Hi David! I also have thought about it for so many years and tried so many shapes of hands and fingers, like playing the piano with flat finger and sharf finger and mixed type and so on.. As you see everyone has their own body, so plays in own shape, but I think, the methode how to play the piano is at the end same, even though we are seeing and thinking, everybody plays with different ways. So probably, even if it seems like, they are playing with the flat finger, they are trying to feel, which angle of finger brings them most clear and profound sound.. It is like the voice, that everyone has, they do the same piano technic and result is also same, but how can I say.. the timbre is going out, which is their own thing :)
But in sense of chamber music, pop or jazz music, you can do something different when you play the piano, make the finger flatter, less arm weight or less relaxation ect.. In classical era you have to keep the classical technic as much you can, and then bring out the character of composer and your interpretation like salt or sugar, that you add in your food :).
      Best regard

Thank you Guys for the remarkable presentation! Praying you will stay safe during this period when you are unable to perform live in front of an audience. Please Guys, even when this Pandemic is over always keep some hand saniitizer with you to use after playing pianos that many others have used.

From the pre WW I and WWII world we have recovered and now we have these two brilliant young brothers manifesting the genuine beauty of the Western Musical Tradition from the terrible horrors of those wars.
It has taken us 77 years to recover and find this new promise. And yet on the horizon is another culture destroyer today in the Ukraine. Do you remember how the symphonies of Brahms and Mahler showed us the great beauty as well as the tendency and thrill of violence and conflict in the European soul? Lucas and Arthur have brought us a different look at that. Playing the works of the Gay Schubert and the Jewish Mendelssohn who brought their gifts to a world that didn't and still doesn't have a place them in their religions or philosophies.
We should never forget that it was the "great" social philosopher Max Weber, but a few short years after Mahler wrote the Resurrection Symphony, who wrote that Jews were a Pariah culture and today Putin jails the Gays including the world's greatest female athlete Brittney Griner as he bombs Ukrainian culture in a way that would have made Batu Khan and the Golden Horde envious.
Can we call this a failure of Art of Religion? Art springs from the expression of human perception and its psycho-physical pursuit of human values in sound and all of the Arts. Religion tells of the search for human meaning in existence and the place of Art in our human networks.
My first voice teacher Dame Eva Turner had her career destroyed in WWII, her heart broken by the blitz as she stoically performed for the war effort in England, but her love and heart along with the rest of European Musical Art was crushed by political ambition, an "art" painted in blood. Ms. Turner was a great artist but she was not the only great work of European civilization destroyed by the ambition and that change of values from human evolution to simple exchange and political ambition.
I would say that the quality of the Art and Religion, as a product of our lives, is judged by how "human" it makes us and able to live with our neighbors. As an eighty year old observing unbelievable young artists I am frightened for them and for the great cultures that have grown out of the recovery from WWII. That this time they won't find the operas or the arts hidden in the forest to recover.
Let us observe these two brilliant, beautiful young artists who are performing with the kind of ensemble that is the promise of music to the culture that listens. Ray Evans Harrell, artistic director, The Magic Circle Opera Repertory Ensemble, Inc. NYCity.
