Damn, good job! Your first international race with legit UCI under 23 and pro riders is awesome! Also, really good job of fighting it out when you had to change your race plans.

Great coverage, congrats on a successful first stage overall. Great NP numbers for that race, impressive given your time in the sport and where you have come from!! "Come to paradise, ride your bike around, get shelled by some pro racers" ~ probably not what is in the Tahiti vacation brochure!

Great to see you still going! I don't know what it is but the creator/videographer and editor dynamic is always so wacky for whatever reason, I was in a similiar position to you where I put on a lot of weight editing and even though we were winning more than either of us ever had my business partner started seeing me more as an employee rather than a teammate, not sure if it's 100% to your experience but regardless it can hurt when you make something great with someone and there's still so much more to do yet heads get in the way and stops the whole thing right in it's tracks. I've been getting fit again, riding my bike a ton and I wanna start launching my own stuff instead of living in the shadows so keep it up it's inspiring in more than a couple of ways!

Awesome work! Loving this series so far... I'm jealous you guys get to ride in Tahiti, but maybe not as jealous of open road racing in the wet 😂

How is 192+ not a high heart rate? I know some people exceed 200, but 190s is a pretty high max. A low max would be like 160. And a resting HR in the 30s with a max in the 190s says you got a good ticker.

    • @Ejstrainingcamp

Hahaha good to hear. I guess I’m surrounded with people that are 200+ 😂

@@Ejstrainingcamp It's all relative anyway. There is a podium-chasing professional ironman triathlete named Lionel Sanders who has a max in the mid 160s. I think the difference between your max and resting is telling. You have no worries for your capacity.

Racing with the amount of oncoming traffic on the opposite road side would make me quite scared, especially considering how many people are not shy about seeming to cross that centerline to pass

    • @adamweb

I don't know much about bod positioning, but you looked like your elbows were flared a lot compared to other riders. Hopefully someone knowledgeable can chime in, but I think that strengthening your serratus anterior and lower trapezius helps with that, as well as improving overall posture?

@@EjstrainingcampI’m not saying it’s the 42’s, but that seems awfully wide. I understand the need for more leverage during sprints, but with the flair on a lot of modern bars, I’d think you could fit a 40 and still have plenty of leverage

Splayed out elbows are a clear sign you are running your bars+levers too narrow. Nothing aero about elbows poking out 20cm wider than your shoulders.

Great content. You did too much work pulling back that breakaway. You should have forced others do their turns. In stead they passed you once you caught it. Good lesson for next race.

If you watch the whole video, they recovered well, bringing back a break, Jeff getting the green jersey, and EJ placing well overall. EJ admits to being tired but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have fitness. That’s partly his style of describing the races. He’s not faking toughness, he’s being real. And he actually is…..really strong.
