Well, to be fair, there are a lot of athletes, actors, music icons, and businessmen who donate millions of dollars to do great things like this. Lebron James and Chance the Rapper both built million dollar schools, and there are hundreds of celebrities who donate millions to charities. You just don’t hear it in the news that often. You have to realize this man is a BILLIONAIRE, not a millionaire. Most all star athletes, music icons, and businessmen don’t make anything near what this man makes in terms of revenue.
If billionaires today teamed up, they could easily open colleges with free education for students in the US, but they don't, because of course they don't.

Like hell he can pay mine off for me too as they are a pain in the arse and I didn't even get a job making what I should be or even in my field of study. Going to college was one of the WORST things I have EVER done. I would rather give my bachelor's degree back to my college and have them take the debt/loans off vs keeping the damn thing.

I applaud the effort. I hope the best of these students use this unique gift to further their education and then pass on their knowledge and work ethic to generations yet to come. Just as the greatest generation took the pain of childhoods during the great depression and the scars of horrific war and turned their experiences into a better world than they knew.

I don't think David Muir is jealous. I think he simply understands the magnitude of this action. Most American students graduate with tremendous debt, since American universities are so expensive.
Morehouse is a prestigious all male college, but the problem is, it cost over 45K a year (not even including room and board) to attend. Many black American parents want their boys to attend Morehouse, but they don't have the means, so those students end up borrowing tremendous amounts of money, if they don't receive scholarship aid from the university.
Most graduates end up having to accept any job (or not being able to pursue entrepreneurship), because they have to immediately start paying back their loan debt. Those students essentially have the "freedom" now to do whatever they wish, since they are not in debt, like almost every other non rich/wealthy recent graduate.
