    Great vidio, to the point. We've watched a couple of other channels methods
    that seem as though they would work but not as clear in direction as yours.
    We've snuck a peek at your library and there's at least a dozen or more that
    will be watched. We were also impressed when we saw in this video, that
    2 years later you are still responding to comments, and not just a few but all
    of them. Full watch, thumbs up, subbed.

    Can I germinate in the same pot I want to keep the petunias in? Also I get a lot of direct sun and high heat in California, can I germinate in a shady corner when it is hot outside or should I germinate indoors when it is really hot outside? Thanks!

    • @LearnHow2

      Hi Pete. Two methods work well - 1) Spray with fine mist 2) Place the pot or tray in a shallow container with some water in it. The water is then drawn up from below without disturbing the seeds. Keep safe.

    • @LearnHow2
      @LearnHow2  2 года назад

      Hi Chris. Just keep the soil moist but not wet soil otherwise the roots drown and the plant dies. (The roots need air in the soil as well as water.) Make sure the plants are getting enough light. Kee safe.

    I grew petunias from seed over the last few years and they grew fine but when I put them in hanging baskets they died after about a month.I also bought some and the same thing happened.Would you have any idea why this would happen.

    • @LearnHow2
      @LearnHow2  3 года назад +4

      Hi Anthony. Hanging baskets dry out very quickly as there is not much soil depth so you have to water regularly (I do mine every evening)- give them a good soaking. Secondly the soil quickly runs out of nutrients so you need to give it plant food every couple of weeks. Third - if the basket is exposed to full sun each day then the plants can quickly get scorched so partial sun/shade is best. Good luck with your growing and keep safe.

    • @anthonydoherty8840
      @anthonydoherty8840 3 года назад +1

      @@LearnHow2 I grew the petunias in used compost so I am wondering is this why they may have died.Could there be disease in the compost that effects them and not the other plants in the baskets.
      Regards Anthony

    • @LearnHow2
      @LearnHow2  3 года назад +1

      @@anthonydoherty8840 Never re-use compost for growing - as you say disease can build up in it and attack new plants. Also it will be very low in nutrients so plenty of plant food would be required. I spread my used compost around my garden on top of the flower beds.

      @@rwalsh4790 Only water enough to keep the soil damp but not wet. Seeds need air as well as water to germinate so if you soak them too much the water will push all the air out of the soil and they will drown and rot.

      @LearnHow2  2 года назад

      Hi Percy. The seeds need light (but not direct sunlight) to germinate. Do not cover with soil but place seeds on the soil surface. For those that germinate and die I can only offer general advice which is usually one of three things 1) too much or too little water, 2) too much or little heat 3) not enough light. Best wishes and keep safe.
