Also the plot of bringing someone back home where they "belong", but in the end not wanting to be separated from them. The endings are slightly different in that aspect though.
Honestly, the scene where Flick stood up to Hopper will always be iconic. Flick's thing is that he's smart, and he's brave, but that's all he's got going for him and Hopper just beats. him. up. and Flick just will not give up.
I like both in their own ways. I appreciate the villains and humor from Bug's Life, but the adult tones of Antz (that beginning battle with the Termites, am I right?).
Hopper was the best thing out of Bugs Life... "You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life! It's not about food, it's about keeping those ants in line. That's why we're going back! Does anybody else wanna stay?" Sure Hopper was the bad guy but his speech really, voice and character designed everything about him was great. I remember as a kid i was more on his side then Flik... Flik annoyed the shit out of me... Antz was good but felt a bit Soulless... Both movie were fine thought... I really liked the Warps and the other Solider who died during the Termite fight... Nothing can top the TV Series of ReBoot and The Incredible in my opinion.
Antz had such a deep impact on me as a kid, of course I couldn't understand all the politics aspects that raise the movie, nor the psychological reference. The first scene is about a man who does a psychotherapy because he feels depressed and have an existential crisis. This movie is smart and consider the viewer like this, and that what I liked so much. Well the esthetic and the war scene also scared me obviously but also kinda fascinated me Still does. Antz is so different of any other animates movie
I actually liked Antz more due to the fact it didn't take place in one area, and didn't feel rushed. plus it put in perspective that in the ant world, like in society, their are the people that work cause they don't feel like they have a choice, like; accountants, and fast food workers. then theirs soldiers who get more credit, more praise, and more attention. plus Z is a character people can relate to, though some can argue he's a bit of a villain, only caring about himself, a lot of people feel that way to.

He did not mention some of the darkest stuff between Katzenberg and Eisner. Eisner used to go on and on about how short and unmanly Katzenberg was, regularly ignoring his memos and his presence in meetings. He also refused to increase his salary, even after Disney movies were hits The result was that years later, the villain for the movie Shrek, Prince Farquaad, was modeled directly after Eisner's appearance, giving him a Disneyland style kingdom and making him ridiculously small.
What's even funnier about modeling Farquadd after Eisner is that the name "Farquadd" is supposed to be a literal clever iteration of "fuckwad". Yes, that flew completely over my head as a kid too. You're not alone.
Well, I was just not whipping out the old F bomb in a vid involving Pixar. lol But I do know that 'particular' reference. Eisner is a well known jerk, so he deserves it.
Robert Gronewold Amen, brother. It's admirable that you refrain from adult language in a video with a much lighter subject material, but that doesn't mean you have to. This is the internet, nobody's gonna judge you for it.

I was like 10 when I first saw Antz and it was the best movie I've seen up to that moment. Some scenes from Antz still gives me chills. I saw A Bugs Life a little bit later and it didn't do much for me.
The only thing they have in common is the main cast are animals and In Pets, the main cast are actual animals unlike Zootopia's anthropomorphic animals. Heck, the movie hasn't even come out yet. I think you all are getting too excited
I've seen both movies. Bug's Life is more nostalgic and I have fond memories of. But Antz, when you think about it, is more realistic to how actual ants work, because they are predatory insects and will stop at nothing to defend the colony.
Same here Antz was rubbish, I used to like this when I was seven, but got bored of it and went back to A Bugs Life as that was and still is my favourite.
Antz was better I think. That's down to being more adult, having a better villain plan, including a mythos, exploring individualism vs. collectivism, having a whole false flag attack, and having a lot of impressive animation sequences.
Adam Placencia they aren't similar. Even after he said it I still can't see the similarities. You could argue Shrek and Donkey are similar to Mike and Sully but that's quite a far reach.
They're a little similar if you think about it, but it's kind stretch. Monster's Inc. is about monsters and Shrek is about a monster. They're also both about a duo consisting of a big guy and an annoying little guy. And... yeah, that's about it. :P They're not strikingly similar; that's probably why I never thought about it until he made that comparison.
Actually the plot is quite similar to each other, both the main characters are monsters and end up having a smaller, comedic-relieve sidekick and somehow they end up befriending a girl, to which the main lead begins to love her as the story progresses (With Shrek having a romantic relationship and Sully having a platonic), they then change their ways of life in order to save the girl, to which they both succeed. ...It's actually quite similar when you think of it like that I guess??
Ugh, we can play with semantics all day. To genuinely say the movies are all that similar is like saying "omg, Movie A is about a ordinary guy breaking the mold and becoming a hero, and Movie B is about an ordinary guy breaking the mold and becoming a hero. So repetitive!" Aside from both being about ants, A Bug's Life and Antz really have very little in common. A guy wants to impress a girl who's out of his league, enter every movie ever. The guy gets the girl anyway, still every movie ever. From there, the plot lines diverge radically. One movie is about a disgruntled worker who's very name is just a letter and a number living in a totalitarian society operating on a rigid class system with a figurehead monarchy that is behind the scenes all controlled by a megalomaniacal general heading a military junta. In the name of love he breaks the rules to attract the attention of a high-class girl he met drowning his sorrows at a bar, and ends up on the battlefield amid a massacre (which was the deliberate design of the general), inadvertently becomes a war hero after witnessing the bruesome death of his decapitated comrade, and accidentally ferments proletarian revolution amongst the oppressed masses. Meanwhile he learns that his love interest is the fiance of the dictator behind his misery and accidentally kidnaps her in hopes of finding a mythical place a raving veteran with PTSD told him about. The princess with whom he is now in love is re-kidnapped and taken back to the colony where she is tied up by the general and told about his master plan to exterminate the working classes by way of mass drowning in the name of building up a society of ubermensch. Fortunately, they narrowly escape this fate and, with the help of a compassionate soldier in the dictator's inner circle, overthrow him and the existing social order along with it. A Bug's Life is about a bumbling but lovable guy named Flik who accidentally loses all of the grain that the ants had stored over the year with one of his crazy inventions. Bad news for the colony because their raiding grass hopper overlords now want twice as much to compensate, and bad news for Flik because he falls out of favour with the princess he is hoping to get with, who hatches an elaborate scheme to get rid of him. Hoping to find some strong-arms to defend the colony, Flik accidentally recruits a circus troupe, who save the princess' younger sister from a bird through shear dumb luck and earn the favour of the colony. Flik thinks up another crazy plot to build a model bird to scare off the grass hoppers, who have now taken over the colony, which initially works but backfires when the circus ringmaster sets the model on fire. Flik gives a brave speech in front of the grasshopper leader which manages to inspire the colony into driving off the grasshoppers once and for all, with Hopper himself being eaten by the original bird's chicks. After that, Atta falls in love with Flik and becomes queen, happily ever after. If you think they have similar plot lines, tones or themes you can only be viewing them superficially in that they are both about ants, rather than actually paying attention to what the films are about beyond that.
I've never been a huge Disney fan, didn't grow up with it even though I was around for their "Renaissance Age" of animation. The only two Disney animated movies I like were The Lion King, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. So for me it's definitely Antz. I watched both as a kid and as I got older Antz just appealed to me more. I was always more into the gritter storytelling and animation. If you prefer bright colors and cutesy stuff then a Bugs Life is for you.
Yet now Disney owns Star Wars! And to be honest, I liked both as a kid and still do as an adult. They appealed to my palette at the time equally. I even had a Bugs Life stuffed ant for the longest time that I adored. And then I lost the princess. Sad days. I like Disney, but it was something more forced on me than Barney was when I was a kid.
I still enjoyed watching antz and a bug’s life, when I was a kid. Although, my mom preferred a bug’s life than antz. Because, she still thinks that antz was boring.
To be honest, although similar in plot, they feel different. To me, Antz always seemed like a movie that would be more enjoyable for an older audience (like, 14 and up), whereas A Bug's Life is a good family movie for all ages to enjoy. I can't choose between them because their humor and possible targeted demographic are different. That's also why I've never tried to compare them because, in a lot of ways, they were too different.
A Bugs Life / ANTZ Finding Nemo / Shark Tale Monsters INC / Monsters vs. Aliens Ratatouille / Flushed Away The Incredibles / Megamind Cars / Turbo The Good Dinosaur / The Croods Sure I miss someone
Much prefer 'Antz'. While the visuals of 'Bug's Life' are superior, I thought the story and characters were a lot more developed and treated young audiences like adults with the harsh analogies of war. The script, with uncredited rewrites by Woody Allen, is top-notch with great dialogue. Plus that John Powell/Harry Greson Williams score is AMAZING. It may be an imitation crab of the real thing, but to me, it tastes a whole lot better.
Antz has better action. I love the "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" Montage against the Termites. The size of the Ants is correct as well in Antz, but "Be the Ball" was all wrong. A Bug's Life had a good plot, and the animation was pretty good, but it seemed to be flat like many of the other movies. The Bird was great though. Both movies were incorrect in assuming that there would be male workers. Ant workers are all FEMALE. Male ants have one purpose only: To fly away and mate with female elates (future queens). As soon as they have exhausted their supply of sperm, the male ants die. This would have greatly altered either storyline.
@@arg7380 The Ants in ANTZ were supposed to be North American Fire Ants (Hence the iconic conical mound). Realistically, protagonist should not have been portrayed as a Super Major, nor as a worker. The only male ants are alates, or breeding ants. When he left with the princess, on what would have been their nuptial flight (He should have had wings), they would have mated within a few hours. Then, after mating was complete, he would have died, and she would find a nesting site, and begin a new colony. The other movie, A Bug's Life, portrayed a colony of Carpenter Ants, living in the root and inner bark system of a giant Oak tree, on an island in a dry stream bed. Flick, the protagonist, should have been an alait with wings, and again, mated with the female mid-flight, and died while she headed off to the next colony.
@@arg7380 Those are called Majors. They have strong jaws in order to cut up prey. All the red ants produce formic acid stings to combat intruders and subdue prey. #antscanada for more info.
Antz is objectively better. A Bug's Life is too full of tired cliches and flat characters with forced development, despite how colorful and fun for kids it is, while Antz takes the scale of things to a huge level, both visually and plot-wise, provoking thought about society and being genuinely hilarious in its own incredibly unique and original way. Antz isn't afraid to take risks and stands proudly as it is. Its only flaw is that they didn't utilize Christopher Walken properly, but that's just a nitpick.
Zellafy Totally hit the nail on the head there, my friend. ^^ I'm not bothered with the circus bugs in A Bug's Life, and honestly found them to be a nice change of pace from the ants and grasshoppers, serving as more of a colorful aspect of variety in the film. But yes, Antz certainly is more adult in its themes, and I don't think it's too adult that it can escape most kids. Of course, the only thing I really liked about it when I was a kid was the huge scale of the visuals and the Hans Zimmer score, but that was when I was very little. I'm so glad I gave it a rewatch on Netflix about a year back.
Yeah, I personally like it better as well. Not to mention that it has some really beautiful animation and creative visuals, like the ants forming a wrecking ball etc
Plot wise, I agree, Antz stepped out more. But Pixar's animation was spectacular, while Antz, mostly not so much. So the creativity went in different directions. Also, Antz was like watching a Woody Allan movie. With Pixar, I never thought I was watching a Tom Hanks cartoon.
It may have been rated pg but it wasn't very kid friendly as the most obvious problem is that there a curse words in it so you really wouldn't want your younger children to watch it where as a bugs life is meant to be completely kid friendly.
1. Big strong monster and whitty short sidekick. 2. The big strong one falls in love with a human and though he was supposed to take her home, now wants to stay with her. 3. Monsters are sweeter on the inside that you thought.
Shrek is a spoof on fairy tales and MI isn't Shrek and Fiona have romantic love bur sully and Boo is more like family love The motives of the villains of both movies are drastically different
+Patrick Hodson Those are just the comparisons that people usually give. Not mine. And though they are entirely different when you get more detailed, their basic skeletal stories are the same.
I loved Bug's Life art style, colorful fun, happy friendly. But I gotta admit, I LOVED ANTZ. It has a great story, and great humor. I like both movies nearly equally. And as a kid, we saw both movies in theater, and owned both on VHS. I never understood why you had to like only one and hate the other, both had their own unique take away!
I like a Bugs Life for how friendly and colorful the whole animation was, but Antz was also good, although not as colorful, it was able to go dark but teach a lesson
Mofix Productions Because I forgot about the mutiny and genocide the ant general was trying to commit against his own people in a bug's life.... So again I'm going to say, none of those movies had the same premise. Similarities don't make it alike. I guess Blade and Underworld are basically the same too right. Or how about resident evil and dawn of the dead? They're just movies with ants in them. One picks food so grasshoppers won't get in their ass and the other works to keep the colony running smoothly. Flick wanted to finally show people he wasn't a screw up and Z just wanted to feel like his life had meaning. 2 very different characters.
A bugs life. I watched this film when I was young with my dad and the film and memory of watching it stuck with me. Antz I also saw when I was younger but just on movie night and it wasn’t that good either. Pixar is hands down my all time favorite film studio. Also I just started RUclips and my channel with my sister and we take a huge inspiration from you guys so I just wanted to say thank you so much for inspiring our channel.
I like ANTZ better because it was less kiddy and the characters were interesting. Some parts were cliche, but what sold me was the subtle adult humor (not as stupid as a bugs life) and how interesting Z was.
Normally I love Pixar, but A Bugs Life doesn't really do it for me. I prefer Ants, but mainly because it looks a lot more polished (more like some of the later Pixar films) compared to the more cartoonish Bugs Life.
#TeamBugsLife for life!!! BTW im wondering: what do you guys think about the Myers Briggs Personality Types and which one do you identify as? (and 8 days till finding dory!!!! :DDD !!)
+Kate France +Daniel Hopper I'm not sure if the link will work (thanks, youtube), but I find this website the most accurate. www.onlinepersonalitytests.org/mbti/entp?ActiveCampaign&Your+MBTI+Test+Results&BTEST-EN%5D+MBTI+1%3A+Your+MBTI+Test+Results
Antz was a much better movie. A Bug's Life was just another silly Disney movie without much meaning or depth. Antz was actually about ants. Ants have six legs and are not blue. Ants can climb up and down vertical surfaces - they don't have to stop and worry about how they're going to get to the other side of a ditch. Antz was interesting. A Bug's Life was just another run-of-the-mill kid's movie.
Technicallllllyyy there are "blue ants", but they're actually solitary wasps that look like ants. Anyway I don't understand why the two movies are compared. A Bug's Life is more focused on the theme and lessons of the movie instead of reality. The only thing relevant to each other is that they're the same species.
Bug's life. It was funnier, and far more clever. I like that it knew well enough to use a more cartoony style for a movie about talking bugs. Antz was honestly a bit dark too.
+Maria Sassi Burigo (Miss) Ahoyhoy! exactly! mature, but not really that disgusting sort of mature! it was more like blood and gore mature which is far less offensive and wicked cool!
That's what made is better for me. ANTZ being dark added a lot more to the movie. Personally I found a bug's life really childish and I know this is my opinion but if I was a parent I would prefer my kid to watch more "dark" animates movies cause I think they can learn more than a happy colorful movie
I prefer antz, I found the characters in a bugs life really annoying at some points but did enjoy it overall. But Antz just had a realistic and funny side and was visually amazing overall. My favorites are the the termite war scene which tugged at the heartstrings and insectopia.
I was about 4/5 years old when these movies came out. My family didn't have a lot growing up, and going to the movies was a RARE treat. I remember being super excited because my parents were going to take me to the "ants movie" that we had seen trailers for on TV.... but it ended up not being A Bug's Life.... it was Antz.... I remember being so disappointed.
when it comes to originality a bug's life wins. when it comes to plot concept antz wins. and for quotes I think antz wins for: "Don't make my mistake, kid. Don't follow orders your whole life. Think for yourself."
Both are good ! But when i was little kid AntZ creeped me out but now i appreciate AntZ it had more emotions, it was much much darker, war, dying ant heads wihtout bodies , more human like emotions etc. A bugs life was nice kids movie ! Both are great each in different ways !
Antz is my preference. I really like the locations and the more "Adult" scenes, like the battle with the termites I mean you see the decapitated bodies of the soldiers. While a Bugs Life has that play scene where they draw X's on the eyes of the drawings to show death.
Honestly, Disney made a bad decision with making the movie come out so soon after Antz. The reason critics prefer Antz is likely because having to see two of basically the same movie must've been tiring and, Antz happened to come out first.
+JONATHAN PINZON Yeah, yeah, he's just saying that since Dreamworks finished first and pushed the movie out early, Pixar should have waited a bit before their release to avoid audience fatigue.
I get what you're saying, but the ratings he was talking about was on Rotten Tomatoes. I don't think that website was as popular as it is today, if it was even created by then. So anyone who reviewed most likely saw the movie well after they were both released, therefore it doesn't matter which was released first.
This pair of films literally made me so confused that I wasn’t even sure if one or the other were just made up in my head and never existed until I was old enough to realize they are from different studios
I loved Antz as a kid, I didn’t care for a bugs life. I had a darker childhood so enjoyed darker movies. I think its good when we are exposed to good characters dying as children as many of us were coming to terms with death at a young age.
I always wondered about why there are so many copy cat animated movies. Now I know about one that was really... BUGGING me! Oh, boo... blame the fact that I've been up since 5:45 am!
I don't really think shrek and monster's Inc are that similar...
Yeah I was trying to figure out how they're similar....
How a monster deep down can actually be nice
Makes sense
Zane Monell I suppose. I guess it's just not as blatant as the others :)
Also the plot of bringing someone back home where they "belong", but in the end not wanting to be separated from them. The endings are slightly different in that aspect though.
Happy Feet, Surf's Up and March of the Penguins were all within a year of each other too. XD
JCX Productions the penguins in Madagascar aren’t the main characters, they’re just the comic reliefs.
Yeah, but March of the Penguins is a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman, so it's doesn't count.
Less than a year honestly. He probably didnt bring it up because Happy Feet blew both of those out of the water
U SAYING HAPPY FEET UNLOCKED A MEMORY I DIDNT KNOW I HAD
Yes you are right, i noticed when i was kid :)
I saw them both. The fight between the Ants and the Termites in ANTZ was terrifying when I was a wee child.
Just watched it, honestly its still kinda brutal even now
Yeah antz is more darker
OMG I was scared too when I was little
Honestly, the scene where Flick stood up to Hopper will always be iconic.
Yes the termite battle scared me as a kid but I liked it at same time, it made me emotional
Does anybody else wanna stay?"
Sure Hopper was the bad guy but his speech really, voice and character designed everything about him was great.
Well you're right corky, you're right ;)
gabriel montreuil, warps lol😆.
antz cusses a bunch, not like a dreamworks movie lol
I watched both. I liked A Bug's Life more when I was a kid, but as I got older, I liked Antz more. Both movies are entertaining though.
Having just rewatched Antz for the first time in a long time last night, that film was definitely not meant for kids like A Bug’s Life was.
Not gonna lie. The design for the characters in ANTZ scared me when I was little. ._.
Same here
Yep, I was terrified when I was just a lil' child.
Little kid? those two legged ant faced burned bacon strips with abs still scare the frick frack outta me

A Bug's Life: Colorful, Family-Friendly and Disney.
Antz: Edgy, Mature and Dark.
true
You forgot to put ugly unds Antz. Seriously looking at the ants hurts my eyes.
Not sure why. I think the ants actually looks like ants.
Very true
A bug's Life is Pixar . Are you stupid ?
Antz is a little less kid friendly so of course that one was my favorite as a kid. It had a darker tone, literally and figuratively.
I'm team Antz but just because of one thing: I used to have it on VHS as a kid and obviously watched it a lot, while for a very long time I only knew the existence of A Bug's Life but had never watched it. When I had finally watched it, I still decided that I preferred Antz over A Bug's Life probably because of the impact it had on me as a kid.
I had both on vhs and at the time antz was rewatched more though I preferred a bug's Life
Antz gang for life!
I like Antz more because i hate Disney because of there lies of them being "CREATIVE!!!", I have not seen anything creative from Disney in so long, the real creative movies needed help from PIXAR writers so Disney is still very hopeless in my favorite co. so i prefer Dreamworks more than Disney because of the lies, and that is also one reason why i like Antz more.
this comment truly changed my life.
I had the same exact experience as you.
Antz kind of disturbed me as a child and A Bugs Life was more funny and easy to understand as a child. Antz is more for older audiences and A Bugs Life is good for children and everyone
Just my opinion.
That's kind of Dreamworks productions' thing.
I have never seen Antz before...
Rod Salka no he said he was "disturbed" and meant that "Antz" is too matured for younger audience
Yeah but children grow up, so always is better to make mature products!!!
Antz is for everyone... It isn't meant to be happy and cheery but that doesn't make it better for more people

I wish I could find that video Nostalgia chick made on this subject called Dualing, that one is more detailed and sounded more accurate.
I think Antz is for more of the young adult audience, 13-18 because of the humor and jokes within it, the target audience for Bugs Life was children

Not really, the only thing they seem to have in common is that they star animals
The only thing they have in common is the main cast are animals and In Pets, the main cast are actual animals unlike Zootopia's anthropomorphic animals. Heck, the movie hasn't even come out yet. I think you all are getting too excited
They're not the same at all...

I've seen "A Bugs Life" as a kid and I remember really enjoying it. I've heard of "Antz" a few times now, but I've never actually seen it.
Antz has that really dark war scene, where as a bugs life isn't as gruesome. I'm all about horror/dark elements, but I vote for a bugs life.
kaylatara paskoski same
Wait, you said you're all for the dark elements that Antz has so why do you vote for A Bug's Life?
gr8gmr That's why he/she said "but"
One of the best lines ever: "I'M THE PRINCESS, DAMMIT!!"
Oh and best line from Bugs life: "Rule number one of being in charge: Everything is your fault!"

Yep, that was one of the first cuss words I had ever head. :D
Remember when Weaver told Z "what are you bitching about"i was like😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧
Does anyone remember the 2006 "ant bully"?
That's the definitive movie right there
I loved that! Haha! When he told them to cross their hearts!
I do. I used to love that movie
yep
Loved that movie
I've seen both movies. Bug's Life is more nostalgic and I have fond memories of. But Antz, when you think about it, is more realistic to how actual ants work, because they are predatory insects and will stop at nothing to defend the colony.
I love Bugs life and absolutely hate Antz.
Same here Antz was rubbish, I used to like this when I was seven, but got bored of it and went back to A Bugs Life as that was and still is my favourite.
same
yes.agreed.same
Same
Agreed.
Antz was better I think. That's down to being more adult, having a better villain plan, including a mythos, exploring individualism vs. collectivism, having a whole false flag attack, and having a lot of impressive animation sequences.
🔥💯
Huh... I literally never thought of Monster's Inc. and Shrek as similar until you mentioned it...
Adam Placencia also the fact that they befriend a human girl
Adam Placencia whom of which they need to "put that thing back where it came from, or so help me", but instead get side tracked.
Antz is one of the most underrated animated movies ever made IMO
Agreed.
Ugh, we can play with semantics all day. To genuinely say the movies are all that similar is like saying "omg, Movie A is about a ordinary guy breaking the mold and becoming a hero, and Movie B is about an ordinary guy breaking the mold and becoming a hero. So repetitive!"
Aside from both being about ants, A Bug's Life and Antz really have very little in common.
TheAntiParadox Wow that was great and I agree very much
TheAntiParadox a
I completely agree!
TheANTiParadox
Also these are the best summaries of either movie I have seen.
If they were books then Antz would be better, but since they're movies, A Bugs Life is better, It's way more visually pleasing.
I like both depending on my mood, if I want the bright stuff Bugs life. If I want something thats going to be dark then I watch Antz
I somewhat agree with Disney never appealing to me, it was always Star Wars and Harry Potter but I do like Bugs Life, and I have never seen Antz
Antz is an adult movie. A Bugs Life is a children's movie. Basically the same movie, but for different audiences. Just compare.
Robin Hood was one of my favorites.

Yes
Yeah I was surprised by the sexual jokes and violent imagery in Antz cause I watched it expecting a feel-good kid's movie like A Bugs Life.
A Bugs Life / ANTZ
Finding Nemo / Shark Tale
Monsters INC / Monsters vs. Aliens
Ratatouille / Flushed Away
The Incredibles / Megamind
Cars / Turbo
The Good Dinosaur / The Croods
Sure I miss someone
I thought the Good Dinosaur was more like httyd than the Croods
+DarkForest11 yah i agree but HTTYD FOE LYFEEE
+DarkForest11 yah i agree but HTTYD FOE LYFEEE
+Jaden Walker SAME! HTTYD IS MY FAV MOVIE OF ALL TIME! 😍😍😍
+DarkForest11 HIGH FIVE!!
I agree I love this movie more than A bugs life, IDK why but I do. :)
Uhhh i know this is a bit old comment. But what do you call a red fire ant with big head and jaw ? If the normal size ant worker are all female?
+Zellafy whole * not while
Zellafy Totally hit the nail on the head there, my friend.
I was going to watch either of the two films after watching this. This totally convinced me to watch Antz instead of A Bugs Life!

how are monsters inc and shrek similar???
I have no idea
ikr lol
Mike wazowski -WHAT IS BOO DOING IN MY HOUSE?!?!?!?!
Boo and Shrek are similar in that they are both pariahs of the dominant society
well monsters inc. and shrek are alike cause both are basically about a monster over coming the odds and changing the future
I never saw Antz. A bug’s life was my childhood. I love that movie. It’s so underrated.
Seen both movies but, A Bug's Life is WAAAAAY BETTER.
I used to watch both bug's life and antz when i was a kid but i always thought ants was boring
Cause ants lead boring lives brother, nothing like you and I. Nyeheheheheh!
+The Dream Carrot Channel Ants are a pain and they're annoying. My hate for them makes me not want to even see the movie 😤
+The Dream Carrot Channel agreed
I know
I liked Antz, but I don't think it was as kid friendly.
Lance Wise it was definitly darker... the battle scenes...
Watched it when I was four and loved it to this day. Bugs life was meh
Lance Wise it's PG
Lance Wise duh
It may have been rated pg but it wasn't very kid friendly as the most obvious problem is that there a curse words in it so you really wouldn't want your younger children to watch it where as a bugs life is meant to be completely kid friendly.
How the frick is there a connection between Monster's Inc and Shrek?
1. Big strong monster and whitty short sidekick.
2. The big strong one falls in love with a human and though he was supposed to take her home, now wants to stay with her.
3. Monsters are sweeter on the inside that you thought.
Shrek is a spoof on fairy tales and MI isn't
Shrek and Fiona have romantic love bur sully and Boo is more like family love
The motives of the villains of both movies are drastically different
+Patrick Hodson Those are just the comparisons that people usually give. Not mine.
And though they are entirely different when you get more detailed, their basic skeletal stories are the same.
Isn't Shrek dreamworks 😂
+Manuel Gonzalez Um yea....whats your point?
Antz at least had legit Ants anatomy
This is the first video on this channel this cannel I've seen by THIS brother

Shrek and Monsters Inc.!?! They are *nothing* like each other!!
I liked Bugs Life better the Antz one had an animation style at actually scared me as a kid.
Antz obviously
I know!
It still scares me nowadays
so true
i came here to say the exact same thing. Antz is just ugly, even seeing it now as an adult
Both of these are 2 of my favorites and theyre possibly the most underrated films from Dreamworks and Pixar
Whats the similarity between shrek and monsters inc
Both about monsters?
It really should not have been listed as an example, the similarities are few and far between
That's literally the only similarity between them.
Mofix Productions What else is there then?
Mofix Productions exactly
I like "A Bug's Life" more. I like the cuteness of the way it looks.
I liked Ant Bully but I'm not sure anyone else remembers that
Cierra Wilson "your eyes are leaking"
Liked that too
Cross your heart, not your butt XD
I've seen ant bully but I haven't seen antz though
Cierra Wilson YOOO I thought I was the only one that remembered that movie
I think antz was creepy
Super Puzzles 72 Probably because of the uncanny valley...
The animation... just... so creepy.
Super Puzzles 72 I Love Creepy Things 😍😍
Super Puzzles 72 absolutely
Ok none of those movies have the same premise.
Only thing that's the same is what species the characters are.
+Mofix Productions A little ass paragraph is too much for you?
yeah OK.
+Mofix Productions Literally didn't spell any word wrong.
Now you're reaching.
+Emery Emonides When did they spell neither wrong? I'm just curious, because I don't see anything.
Leather.
Antz, I have watched it more and just find it enjoyable. Bugs life is cute but I cringe at a lot of things in it.
its a kids movie
fair enuf
+Lance Clearman Yeah and the characters in a bugs life are just annoying
+Lee O'Reilly you can't just say it is for kids, I hate that argument
+Danman TV but it is
We had both as kids. I always watched Antz; my brother, A Bugs Life
I like ANTZ better because it was less kiddy and the characters were interesting. Some parts were cliche, but what sold me was the subtle adult humor (not as stupid as a bugs life) and how interesting Z was.
My vote goes to bug's life
Same
Agreed.
100% same

Same
Normally I love Pixar, but A Bugs Life doesn't really do it for me. I prefer Ants, but mainly because it looks a lot more polished (more like some of the later Pixar films) compared to the more cartoonish Bugs Life.
yeah
I never liked Antz, mainly because it creeped me out.
Same!! The animation of all the humans are just so creepy especially the eyes!
+Fleak
Are you sure that you like Antz? It has words like B*tch and Crap
+Juan Gonzalez Crap isn't a curse word
A Bugs Life because i was scared to death by ANTZ
I think I preferred Antz as a child, but I've forgotten both so much that I'd have to rewatch them to be sure.
I personally liked Antz more when I was a kid, I don't know why exactly.
Although to be truly earnest, I find both are REALLY good

Antz was a much better movie. A Bug's Life was just another silly Disney movie without much meaning or depth. Antz was actually about ants. Ants have six legs and are not blue. Ants can climb up and down vertical surfaces - they don't have to stop and worry about how they're going to get to the other side of a ditch. Antz was interesting. A Bug's Life was just another run-of-the-mill kid's movie.
Agree completely
exactly
Yeah but remember, A Bug's Life made the $$$$$$$$
Noms Yeah, and McDonald's makes tons of $$$$$, too. That doesn't mean it's the best food.
Technicallllllyyy there are "blue ants", but they're actually solitary wasps that look like ants. Anyway I don't understand why the two movies are compared. A Bug's Life is more focused on the theme and lessons of the movie instead of reality. The only thing relevant to each other is that they're the same species.
Children watch Bugs Life
Men watch Antz.
Yeah, “Antz” is not a movie for kids.
Men also like “a bugs life”
I watch antz
I watch human centipede
Yeah Antz is definitely not for young children like A Bug's Life is
How is Flush Away and Ratatouille connected because I'm confuse?
rats chamge of life quality interactiom with humans etc.
And they both have a dramatic life change after taking a ride through a sewer system and getting separated from their original life style.
Yep
+This Crazy Gamer huh?
Thanks for all the info- and the joke!
Bug's life. It was funnier, and far more clever. I like that it knew well enough to use a more cartoony style for a movie about talking bugs. Antz was honestly a bit dark too.
every notice that bug's life is literally the same plot as seven samurai or magnificent seven?
*****
I hadn't but that's made it even better.
not dark, mature!
A bugs life is my pick because Antz gave 5-year-old me nightmare
I prefer antz, I found the characters in a bugs life really annoying at some points but did enjoy it overall. But Antz just had a realistic and funny side and was visually amazing overall. My favorites are the the termite war scene which tugged at the heartstrings and insectopia.
Same, I remember Antz more than I do with Bug’s life. Even though I watched Bug’s Life a lot as a kid Antz impacted the most.
Your on #TeamABug'sLife, and others are on #TeamAnts, Ant man is in the middle
XD
#TeamTheAntBully
Lol
Antman bruh
he would be with bugs life because his girlfriend is wasp
Definitely prefer a bug's life
Antz due to the film's serious tone which taught me a lot when I was 4.
Watership Down anyone?
Oh my god, watership down.
I've seen both but I prefer A Bug's Life bc the design of the ants in Antz disturbs me
Susie ? Same!
Same. The animation in Bug's Life looked great for 1998. It looked more like 2001 in my opinion. Antz's animation was your average 1998 animation.
Guess you could say it was mostly....

Good one.
when it comes to originality a bug's life wins.
when it comes to plot concept antz wins.
and for quotes I think antz wins for: "Don't make my mistake, kid. Don't follow orders your whole life. Think for yourself."
I will pick a bugs life why ants to me is not really funny and bugs life is really FUNNY
DJ Cookie I love your profile pic bro!
Thank you. Wish I knew who made it tjo. I figured it was a meme and usually i don't have to credit those
It is not original, it is based off of the story of the seven samurai
Read the small kids book about it and it's kinda......creepy....
No they didn't! Jeffrey kind of stole Pixar's idea.
+JONATHAN PINZON Yeah, yeah, he's just saying that since Dreamworks finished first and pushed the movie out early, Pixar should have waited a bit before their release to avoid audience fatigue.
Well actually, he left AFTER Toy Story premiered and was one of the people who began the concept of a bugs life.
I get what you're saying, but the ratings he was talking about was on Rotten Tomatoes. I don't think that website was as popular as it is today, if it was even created by then. So anyone who reviewed most likely saw the movie well after they were both released, therefore it doesn't matter which was released first.
+Lily Alcee I think the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are still from the movie's release even though RT wasn't around then.
Antz kinda did scare me. The animation is creepy..
Lol yeah, the animation is what kept me from watching the film.
I thought the part where the army gets dismembered by those huge bugs was disturbing.
Same. It freaked me out as a kid. As an adult though I think it's a better film than Bug's Life.
._.
And they swear
I prefer A Bug’s Life overall, but I concede that Antz has a phenomenal screenplay.
I liked Antz and bugs life as a kid. But as i got older I found Antz to be more rewatchable than Bugs life.
Antz scares me..
*Its the faces*
Bug's Life definitely gets my vote, as it was literally my childhood!!!!!!!!! (To give you some perspective: I had Bug's Life underwear.....)
I had no idea that they made that, now why. But, then again, I was born 7 years after Bugs Life.
It's hilarious cause I loved both Antz and A Bug's Life XD
I've seen both and I loved both of them.
i prefer a bugs life and is ANTZ a kids movie? because of the language
Ikr ants swears like 10 times
What are you? Five?
***** i live america
Dylan Fagan no I'm not five open your eyes and look
***** oh I live in new mexico and its hot but I love here
I prefer Antz since its more adult humor and characters.
Me: (*points to A Bug’s Life*) Mom can we get A Bug’s Life?
Mom: We have A Bug’s Life at home.
A Bug’s Life at home: ANTZ
Hey! Is actually pretty good
ANTZ is better tho, A Bugs Life is for babies
Not going to lie when I was a kid Antz was one of my favorite movie and I was not that much of a fan of A Bugs Life.
Same, I enjoy its adult humor.
This pair of films literally made me so confused that I wasn’t even sure if one or the other were just made up in my head and never existed until I was old enough to realize they are from different studios
I cant ever remember the plot to a bugs life.
But antz was unforgettable
That's the opposite to me
I loved Antz as a kid, I didn’t care for a bugs life.
I had a darker childhood so enjoyed darker movies.
I think its good when we are exposed to good characters dying as children as many of us were coming to terms with death at a young age.
I always wondered about why there are so many copy cat animated movies. Now I know about one that was really... BUGGING me! Oh, boo... blame the fact that I've been up since 5:45 am!
lol
you're my hero. lolz
