My grandad was born in London’s east end too. The family, including my Mum, moved to the USA in 1925. As kids we had no problem understanding him but we did have to translate what he was saying to our American friends and neighbors. My grandad was an orphan and may or may not have been in a workhouse. He joined the Royal Navy at 11 yrs old, no child labor laws back then. He made a career out of his enlistment.
Danny dyer pure gentleman
The subtitles when Danny and his dad are talking are gold. "Got some Moria yeah 7.0 everybody's dog" - classic east end patter.
I really like these videos. Danny Dyer is endlessly interesting, whether he likes or not.
Agreed
Real good guy
Can you imagine their reactions when they discovered their ancestors?!?!?
He reacted as I did when I found out through research that I too have the same ancestors up to Edward 3rd! Flabbergasted is the word! I enjoyed watching this !
@@maryfrump7937Why flabbergasted?
Edward III lived 670 years ago.
22 generations.
That is 4 million forebears.
Chances are one would be Royal.
Danny is a big hearted fella. Im also relates to Edward III via another line (Popham who sentenced Guy Fawkes) Im no rich geezer either. Well there will be 1000s of us related. All cousins. Danny from London. Myself Cornwall.
My Nan was born in Mile End workhouse in 1910
I'm glad there are subtitles for us Americans.
The subtitles won't help you here.
@@stephen3654 I was joking, no need to be rude with your English sarcasm 😏
What a great guy most famous people won't even walk let alone stop for pictures
I have two so many times great grandmother's that were born in a workhouses in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. One called Ada Sarah Jane Winstone and one called Honor Wintle. Ada was illegitimate and had two children out of wedlock as well. Honor had a illegitimate child as well and died in a workhouse.
We're probably related then as my family name is Winston and they added and lost the e from the name. Sarah is my middle name. It's a common name in the Winston family and I believe it's after a much earlier Sarah Winston who married the self made man who became the first Duke of Marlborough.
Danny sounds just like his dad
He reminds me of Russell Crowe. This guy looks a lot more charming though.
Mickey Rourke???
Russell has more ABBO .... less ponce ....
I'm an Aussie not in love with Russel Crowe and think this dude needs to do everything better in life .
Danny Dyer is so flipping honest, no need to hide anything, WYSIWYG all the way and I for one think that is bloody impressive! What a standup dude he is!! And as a reward later he finds out his lineage all the way back to Kings and Queens. so well deserved! Big ol’ softy!! ;-)
The smudges are the nuts
I love old photos, our history
I.cant believe Danny Dyer is. Royal
He got a great family has Danny very lucky
I have no idea who this guy is, never seen him before but those guys in the streets seemed to get excited to see him.
He looks tiny too but walks as if he was huge 😅
He seems like such a cool guy. He reminds me of Mark Walberg 🤣 thr British Marky Mark 😆
Danny and pops look alike
It looks like the Buttivants survived more than the workhouse; Ann Buttivant has very obvious smallpox scars.
Id like to meet him and make a selfie with next time I go to London though Id loike to visit Newcastle
I love Malcolm Smythe
When is the new season starting?
Workhouses were absolutely dreadful places that separated families and made examples of unmarried mothers. It's no wonder many poor people living in these times fell foul of the law given the division of wealth .
Give it a rest 🙄

Danny your the nuts
Imagine if he decided to investigate his mom’s lineage… he might not have discovered all the royals
They always check in advance if the guest has any interesting family history, if they don't, there's no show.
"So she didn't run the workhouse, she was just in it" sigh!

He’s known what went on.
