    Just proves to show you some animal mothers are better than humans sometimes as they are protective over kids that don't belong to her! Wow!

      To here there her babies, She did the hard work of hatching them, In he mind she is mom and nothing gets between mom and her babies. I know a few people that could actually learn from this...lol

    How COOL is that?!! Momma Hen with her ch....i mean ducklings! Everything's o.k., I hope only , you don't have a pond nearby, because my grandma back in Bay City, Tx. vicinity told us that the ducklings go straight for the water and Momma Hen's is left on the bank, squawking and fretting over her babies in the water, possibly drowning, NOT! But aquatic turtles do LOVE baby ducks and before the day was through, My Nana no longer had newly hatched duckling to watch and care for. Uprated.

      Actually high end restaurants here in the U.S. serve turducken. Popular in the south too. I was not joking. They take the boneless breasts of each bird and wrap them together with herbs and spices and bake it. The duck is fatty and keeps everything nice and moist. Really pretty good.

  • @DaleCalderCampobello
    @DaleCalderCampobello 8 лет назад

    She is a good mom. Many years ago I had the same thing happen with a Red Sex-link that isn't supposed to get broody. she hadn't read the book and likely didn't get the email either, www.flickr.com/photos/dalecalder2003/3526230015/in/photolist-6nARke her name was 99 because that was the number on her leg band.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 лет назад +4

      You showed me 99 before, This chicken was raised with ducks so when the babies went in the water the first time she just stood back and watched no problem, The last chicken I had hatch ducks was very upset when her 3 baby ducks decided to go for a swim in the water bowl.

    If there’s only one thing to show that god can create something that melts the heart of even the most evil people, it’s baby ducks.

    If you have fowl in your yard they will keep it clean of all the bad bugs. They eat just about everything--caterpillars, grasshoppers, fleas and ticks to name some of the worst buggies.

      The hard part is keeping the birds in the yard.

    More Muscovy ducks. Ugly things. To top that they're also invasive species in the wild, where they run off native ducks and attack drakes then force breed with females (usually Mallard wilds). In Florida you can see them out in the wild but also living in urban areas, showing up in yards and other places. People find them and usually throw them in local ponds or lakes, where they make new homes and establish ranges all over again. Florida Conservation Officers want to force breeders to band the ducks because, since they fly, they are spreading everywhere. They've also become a favorite snack for the growing Boa population.

      Well I don't see how my muscovy ducks has anything to do with this. I well add that my female ducks can fly short distances but the drakes can not get off the ground, Might be different in the wild.

      ***** Sorry Sir, I didn't mean to rag down on your Muscovy ducks. I'm not a fan myself, but I guess many are. People say they are good to eat, especially if you can get them to sit still for awhile. In case you haven't seen it, a guy up in Canada has been raising free range ducks, he has Muscovy ducks along with Peking and Mallard domesticated, around 900 of them right now. He's had mixed results with his Muscovy ducks. The females all fly, even a male or two has taken off the ground. He's had around 10-15 or more in his flock. They stay in a group and don't mingle with the other breeds. He had too many drakes awhile back and had to cull3 or 4 of them. The females have been aggressive towards the other breeds as well. His channel is called '50 Ducks In A Hot Tub' or 'Ducks For The Homeless'.
      I was talking about Muscovy ducks in places down in the southern US, such as Florida, where they've become known a the duck version of feral hogs and are forcing out the native local ducks wherever they range. It's illegal in the US now to own, sell, trade of even feed them in the wild our even if they roost in your yard. So, I guess the Federal government is serious about getting their population down. Good luck with your ducks and animals, looks like a real fun set up.

      The chicken and the duck agreed that the chicken would sit on the eggs and be the mom to the baby ducks, I had nothing to do with it.
