Poland again showing it could produce quality Classical and Romantic era music to rival Vienna ! This a brilliant piece of music, deserves more listening time.

Hermosa sinfonía de un compositor desconocido para mí. Pau, muchas gracias por compartir.

A beautifully constructed symphony by this completely unknown artist. Some lovely dialogue between the woodwind and strings throughout. My guess is that although Orlowski was an acclaimed violinist/conductor he knew a thing or two about woodwind. :-) :-)

Pałac Kazimierzowski (the palace portrayed in the painting) is now part of the Warsaw University campus. I studied there :)

I can spend hours here every day. Orlowski is another highly listenable composer I don't recall hearing until now. Thanks for this and your other postings. Best Wishes from Washington,DC

Magnifique? I think you and me could do better.......Interesting from the historical point of view but it detects how poor was polish music ( before Chopin birth of course!) compared with german, osterreich and italian music!

Muita beleza no solo de oboé e participacão das palhetas e trompas. As cordas movimentam-se com elegância.

Yes, the information provided here shows what you can expect to find in the booklets attached to the CDs with Polish early music. Because the ravages of wars have depleted our municipal and estate archives, the booklet notes focus on the musicological descriptions of the compositions rather than the biographical data of the composers about whom we now know next to nothing. Fortunately, the sacred Jasna Góra monastery has been rather spared, and we now have one of the largest collections of music manuscripts in Europe. The monks copying the scores were not bothered with the biographies of the ones who wrote the music though.
