Thanks for playing this at the correct tempo, Cory. Very well done, sir! Scott Joplin would have hated to hear the way in which so many performers play these march tempo compositions at a gallop, or even faster.
Joplin was really like Bach, totally singular and every note is a wonder and perfectky choosen, like it comes from the sky; yes both had similar contemporary collegues doing great music too, but still Jop and Bach music have something in more, a distinct je-ne-sais-quoi perfusing all their works
I don’t mean to disrespect your view or I don’t mean to disrespect Joplin. But comparing Joplin to Bach is little too much. Joplin was king of rag time. And all Rag time music sounds the same since it has a unique rhythm. Not blaming Joplin. But Bach was heaven sent. He ‘defined’ music.
Don’t even really know where to begin with this, seems unattainable from my standpoint, though I don’t doubt that what he offers lays out an approach that gets even the most hesitant of students to know their stuff. I guess I gotta just get down to it then. Ragtime beyond anything has always seemed like a genuine impossibility to me, namely for the syncopation.

I played this for a state piano exam back in April. Great piece!
