    Daily Rehab #16: Acute lower back pain release routine
    Great little routine for those with acute pain in the lower back, ideal to be used in the acute stages of back injury and enable you to then do the lower back stretches to improve mobility and then core work. Very good to start the day with if you are locked up and in pain.
    1. Pelvic Tilts
    2. Controlled Rotations
    3. Back Block Traction
    4. Pelvic Rocks

    This worked! I got up and was in pain and barely able to walk due to strained lower back muscles. 30 seconds of doing your first exercise and my back miraculously felt normal again. Thank you!!

    This was really helpful thank you. I've had lower back spasms for 3 days and spent most of that time on the floor with heat and cold packs. Just did these a couple times through and I managed to stand up unaided. I'm 37, have never had back pain like this before. Really grateful for your video.

    3:00 some thoughts please. I accomplish stretch on the lower back extensors by bringing the knees (flexed) to the chest. Slowly, and to the extent that it is still comfortable. Most people find this relaxing. Is there any reason why this smaller stretch with an active posterior pelvic tilt is better?

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  6 лет назад +2

      To put it simply - less posterior disc movement and less chance of a increase in a disc bulge. The flexion relaxes the muscles and provides SOME traction but if you go too far into flexion you may aggravate a already angry posterior disc bulge

    • @GrandmaBetty1945
      @GrandmaBetty1945 6 лет назад +1

      To give you the specifics.. Last week I had a new patient calling in for an appointment at the clinic. He had been working at festivals for weeks, lifting heavy objects daily and lifting them in the worst possible way (bending over and pulling on his lower back extensors). He could feel the pain building up throughout the weeks until he couldn't take it anymore. He could barely get on and off the table. He's 23, overweight, standing with his knees hyperextended (no quad activity but hanging into the joint) and with a lumbar hyperlordosis. The disc itself wasn't problematic yet but it was a build up of muscle spasm over the weeks. I did some stretches, gave him advice on how to lift objects correctly (using his knees and keeping a neutral spine), told him to lay down on his back and with his knees bent, and to put a hot pack under his lower back to release the muscle spasm. Today I will see him again but he seems one of those idiots who doesn't take advice. 5 minutes after I told him how to lift properly he took his shoes by bending forward, and he went back to lifting at festivals exactly 1 day after I saw him. I just don't want to be held responsible for the likely fact that he stays in pain

    4:50 I have had low back pain for a little more than a year now and have tried this stretch numerous times. Each and every time I have had pain from doing this stretch particularly when I move my legs to the right side, the pain is on the left side of my back when doing this. I also have pain when extending my back or hanging from a bar. (I am aware that hanging from a bar causes extension but even if I put myself in a non-extended position such as pushing myself up on a countertop and letting my legs hang there is still pain.) my physiotherapist has been helping me balance lower back and glute muscles to fix this problem but I don't understand why because the pain is only felt when my lower back muscles and core are inactive so how could one side be compensating? Do you have any idea what this problem could be? the physio guys initially said spondylolisthesis but an x-ray said my spine was healthy fast forward to 8 months later and there is still pain and I am desperate for help. If anyone has a clue what this could be or what could help please respond I don't know what to do, my family doctor said 7 months ago that there's nothing wrong but here I am.
