I used Loctite 515 Gasket maker on the bottom case.
I used Loctite 243 Blue ThreadLocker on the connecting rod bolts.
The Wire brush I used to clean the head came in a kit that I bought on amazon.
Hasting Ring compressor $25.00 Local Napa store.
Torque Wrench bought on amazon. Note: Next purchase will be one that goes to 250 in-lbs
Can't believe he got it back together. Man's a genius! I would have given up long ago.
Wow, what a rebuild. My mower isn't starting after running over a solid object. Checked the flywheel slotted key. Was good. I am afraid it will be a major rebuild like this.
I’d fixed it for free if you’d lived near me. I would make a video on it.
Thanks for showing how it all comes apart. I've done V8s, but this is my first single cyl. I pulled the head this afternoon in the hope of replacing the head gasket (billowing blue oil cloud), but the gasket looks good, so now I'm thinking it's a ring problem.
P.S. 5:43 Woodruff key
Nice video. I have one of those engines and I’m chasing an oil burning problem.
Watching you demolish and rebuild one was very helpful. 🤠

@@WeekendHobbyMechanic Great video. I was already half way though it 🤠
Greatest Canadian since Sgt. Preston.
stumbled across this. I'm going to attempt this. great video
👍
Nice work dude ... great video, no fluffy stuff and to the point. I do some repairs, flipping and tinkering to help relax get stress out, but would like to do a total rebuild like this also ...
👍
I just performed this same repair to the T of following this video. Now I'm fighting to get it started. I pulled the cover to verify the governor and timing was correct 4 times. I'm gonna pull it tomorrow and see if there's any cracks in the casing that I missed
Remove the air filter & add a bit of fuel in the intake. It should fire.
@@WeekendHobbyMechanic I'm definitely gonna give that a try after watching your video of the cam replacement on the d110
Very Nice Video. Lots of detail when splitting the case. I'm currently working on (2) John Deere 110 mowers, one runs good but I discovered that both push rods are slightly bent when I spin them watching the rocker arms move side to side. The other 110 locks up when spun to a certain spot, probably a slung rod. Your video gives me a very good idea of what I'm looking at as I'm tearing it apart to see if it's salvageable. Both engines are a 33R877 Briggs. What do you think is the probable cause of these engines to fail? The runner has 153 hrs, and the busted one is only at 125 hrs. Both engines have plenty of oil. Could this be just poor quality? And why does Briggs have two different kinds of push rods, aluminum and steel, maybe weight savings? Thank You 👍

Yes, great video
Thanks!
I made the same repair + piston rings on a mower everything runs good except when it shuts off I hear a slight rattle. Not sure what would cause it ? because I am pretty sure I put everything back together correctly.
It might just be the counter weight inside the motor. If the noise does get worse, run it.
Nice Job. Fun to watch and to the point. Like someone else said, a little more voice volume would be great. Was it the case bottom or the main cylinder half that was cracked? Did you replace both? Seems like you've got lots of spare parts around. Also, maybe I missed it, but did you replace the lower crank seal?
I replaced the bottom case but not the seal. I do have a few spare 19.5hp blown motors kicking around. These fail allot because of poor Maintenance.
Your video was really awesome and you are very informative! Thanks again..
👍
FANTASTIC walkthrough, you just got a new subscriber and a like! Could you please tell me any and all cleaning sprays/solvents you used to wash parts in this video? I am overhauling a Kohler CV491 right now (first ever overhaul) and just got it popped open so I am about to clean everything up before proceeding. A bit nervous I am going to use a cleaner that leaves residue and ends up breaking down oil and ruining my reassembled engine. Thank you!
I sometime use a can or two of “Brake clean”. Micro-fibre cloths and automotive lacquer thinner. Any spray can cleaner works good.
Can you get parts for the D140 engine? Briggs wanted about $1600 for a replacement engine. John Deere quoted me about $800 for a new engine. I don't know if they no longer make the same engine, Briggs gave me the idea there was only an industrial replacement. Not sure who is scalping me but if you know of a vendor that handles John Deere parts please let me know. My engine is running but the rod is knocking so loud I cant hear anything else. Hopefully it can be rebuilt. Great video thanks for the info.
Crankshaft is $543cad, connecting rod is $90cad. Engine is not worth saving. Lookup on Craigs list for Facebook marketplace or a used motor or an old mower with a 22hp in it. I buy them for under $300 complete.
Excellent
👌👌👍👍 Nice work! Thanks for the video.
Nice job 👍
Thanks 👍
Your video was excellent but I could barely hear you talking. If you could raise your voice more it would help me greatly.
Thx. On it now.
Nice 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
How much he charged for that job
Cheaper to buy a used engine. I’d buy a 22hp v-twin to replace the 19.5.
Where are you located? I need somebody to look at my John Deere. I can’t figure out what’s wrong with it
Do you live in Nova Scotia?
Ive been hours trying to find a connecting rod number for this engine. Can you enlighten me? B&S seems to bypass the engine s/n thats on mine

What is the OE part number for the camshaft?
John Deere #AUC17936
where did you get a manual for torque/install directions?
Repair manual on ebay. You can try do a Google search for a free one.
Got one that went bad the same way 2 days ago. 83 hours. Heard a few loud clunks then it locked up. I can barely rotate it by hand. The starter will barely turn it sometimes/sometimes not at all. Will need to tear it down and examine for possible repair. This is a newer mower from J Deere. Just junk in my humble opinion. I got rid of the quick oil change to make the engine last and put on a regular filter and drain port. Oil was changed ever 12 hours and was just changed when this happened. I think Briggs and Stratton hold some responsibility for lack of quality.
👍
Your crankshaft is not garbage it’s just aluminum built up on the journal use muriatic acid to clean it off and then 1500 grit sandpaper to polish it and your crank will be as good as new nine times out of 10 the crank journal is not damaged.
👍
What kind of oil do u recommend?
10w-30 synthetic
Hello Aruba 🇦🇼 Dude.

How can I post a photo on here, or too you some way.
Tony Stewart gave me the stickers on my ride.
I leave in London Wembley ,where you come from
Nova Scotia, Canada
What was the cost for the parts?
I bought a used motor for parts. $50.
Hello I wanna ask if you have a cover with the oil pump for John deere x110 automatic because what I have me he don't and every time the engine hees broken
Are you talking about a Oil Pump cover at the base of the engine? Briggs Part #499613?
Exactly, you have something used to sell ,cover with pump and his pin
@@ZsoltFeher-kw8bgShipping would be too much. Cheaper for you to go at your local dealer or any Lawn mower repair shop for one. Take a picture of your model number (top of your Valve cover)
Hello I can't understand exactly the position off the rings on the piston,if you can sand me a foto signed directly on the piston, thanks
@@feherzsolt9615 Top ring at 4 o'clock position. Second ring at 8:00. Top oil ring expander at 10:00. The other one at 2:00
Great video-thank you so much! I have the same basic engine and have some questions- could I send a text or email?
What’s up?
@@WeekendHobbyMechanic I have a 2013 John Deere D110 with a 33R877 Briggs engine-it seems the typical head gasket failure caused the oil level to go low, the connecting rod shattered, the crank looks to be badly gouged where the rod connects to it, the counterbalance has a broken ear and the sump base has a broken part as a result of the counter balance breaking. Where do you recommend to get replacement parts that are good quality but do not cost more than the whole thing is worth? Thank you for your response and awesome video!
The engine is toast. Look on Facebook marketplace for a used engine. I see one or two every week for sale here around Nova Scotia. ($200-300)/each.
@@WeekendHobbyMechanic So you feel not worth installing new parts?
It will cost you too much money and time. Not worth fixing.
Hey how to delete inspektion in this model
What do you mean by “inspektion”? Inspection? No idea
to 99.8 % of viewers....dont do this at home .
Probably 99.99999%
