Reality stars take note, this is what real talent actually is.
You are spot on
Absolutely!!
Brilliant sounds better now than he did back in the day
Fuck talent, I just wanna be famous. I want my own lipstick range. & chat to Lorraine Kelly.
Well said.. a heart warming performance.
Holly shit 😂. The dudes still got it. Not many can sing live 🖤👍🏼
you have the name that Holly loves
Is not Holly Shit, he is Holly Jonhson. A genious.😛
This song was so very important back in the day
Holly always had perfect pitch. Didn't need autotune or other crutches. A total gift from the 80s.
'My undying, death-defying love for you' - what a line 💖🙌
Holly Johnson is just one of those rare human beings. Humble honest and super talented. Truly one of the greatest lone songs of all times.
Oh anybody else cry when they hear this song? Beautiful.
Have you seen All of Us Strangers?
Oh Holly, this still brings tears to my eyes and goosebumps all over me. Such a beautiful song 🖤
Exactly the same for me. He closed the Forever Young Festival in 2019 with this and not only did I have tears in my eyes, so did he ❤️. Such a powerful song and gorgeous man.
I bought this when it came out in 1984, so I'm very impressed it still sounds amazing
It actually might be the greatest song ever written
Have never heard it ...or not at this tempo, but am enjoying the first verse
Too true masterpiece
Holy mother of god. What a voice. Absolutely stunning. He hasn’t lost any of his power. Beautiful voice
Holly still can hold a note! Incredible all these years later.
Just a shame the sound guy forgot to add a wee bit reverb to the mix
Your joking aren’t you !!!
@@TheSkunkyMonk There was loads of reverb, sounded perfect
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Him and Jimmy Somerville are still people from the 80s that are absolutely great to this day holding their notes and still singing live.
Right, and then add Dave Gahan to the list.
Brilliant.👏👏
From a time when artists had talent and could actually sing.
Exactly, but I’m starting to hear my dad when I speak 😆. Is it me or is most modern music / singers have a synthesised voice ? Or is it my tinnitus
@@stevendavies3563 you are exactly right. Basically any vocal recorded or sung live this century has been auto-pitched and auto-tuned. I have been learning a lot about this and how to detect it from Wings of Pegasus on youtube. I think Holly is singing here without any auto correcting of his voice but I am going to suggest an analysis of this performance from WoP to be sure. That is why everyone is commenting on this that it is giving them chills including me. I've watched this many times. I wish NMTB would do a version without the credits over it at the end.
In an age where no current popstar can actually sing live on a level that is at least "very good" (most at mediocre at best, just like the excuses their fans make for them), Holly delivers a thrilling performance that while does not hide his limits (he's 61 after all) on at least one occasion, still blows everyone else out of the water.
Mick Hucknull from Simply Red is the only other singer who can sing as good if not better then in his heyday 40 years ago.
Wow. One of the best songs not only of the 80's but of all time.
As soon as he opened his mouth and that glorious first note was sung, I just stood still and let this prayer of a song wash over me……again.
I have loved it since I was a kid in the 80’s and it remains one of my most beloved songs.
Holly you still sing it the same…..God bless you for giving us such a gift 💛🎶
Oh my, I just went back in time. I will never tire of this song and Holly, your voice is just as sublime now as it was in the 80's!
Legendary song , Holly still rocks it , not many can do that .
Singing without autotune sounds like this for all you youngsters who might not know. Bringing emotion to listeners, regardless if you like the song or not.
Brings back lovely memories 🇬🇧
The power of love was my favourite Xmas song, it was so different from other Frankie songs, just beautiful
absolute classic.i close my eyes and I'm back in the 1980ies
I wish we were better than this crap of today....
Still got it. Fantastic voice. Only wish we’d have heard much more of him over the years
Damn I did not expect him to still sound this amazing. Outstanding stuff
Wow.. sounds better now than he did '84. What a voice.
Goosebumps
Oh to go back to 1984 🧡💗🧡
Beautifully sung Holly ❤
They couldn’t choose a better time than Xmas to release this song and this guy still has the real X factor
Great memories of buying the 12" picture disc of this song in Christmas 1984 I believe and listening to it over and over in the dark for hours. Thinking and longing for that beautiful girl only a few doors down from me,l never got with her (she died in 1995 with Cancer) and she never even knew of my crush but this song brings me back to that time. A stunning performance by Holly,he still has it in spades, this has made my Christmas.
I've still got it! The guitar solo at the beginning gives me chills every time, a fantastic tune. The B side is great as well, great memories..."Christmas is here once again, so let's all have some fun..." 😆
You said it man, that solo is unreal,World class musicianship, Trevor Horn had the best of session musicians,my copy was nicked many moons ago by an ex,hang onto yours, might be worth a pretty penny! 😊
More like the dude 4 doors down. 😕 If you liked this band.
@@stringer-ik1pc it doesn't follow at all. Very strange thing to assume.
Yeah, was number 1 early December but dropped a little before the Christmas chart.
I felt maximum joy to see Holly sing this tune after all these years, I still treasure all of his records
Maximum joy I got it an album track
Hello holly I'm.carole from liverpool the best song ever I'd like this played at my funeral for the man who I loved with all my heart thank you
So many cover versions, but nobody can match Holly.
I was at school with him at Liverpool Collegiate. He was always the smartest dressed. Even at 15 we knew he was special.
💖
Oh. My. GOD! Never thought i'd hear you sing again Holly. Amazing. Please, Please, Please do the comeback thing with Paul and the guys. I'd give my right arm to see that.
Did you ever see the FGTH Bands reunited? It used to be on here. I don't think that will ever happen somehow
FGTH have a new lead singer, who won his chance to sing with the band in a competition, and ended up staying with the band!
Not a patch on Holly when he was in his prime though.
@@hermanmunster3358 Not now they don't. They broke up after that Wembley thing. It's only Paul and Nasher that even keep in touch as far as I know
The most magic en beautiful love song ever for me.
This is a true song of greatness. The beautiful arrangement and that gorgeous emotive voice. Makes me cry every time. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow and wow. Real talent . Xx
Remember, it's not just for Christmas ❤️
What a superb voice! Holly Johnson is awesome!!
This song should be played yr round, just because it was a Christmas number 1 and of course the video, it’s been pigeonholed, shame, it deserves to be played yr round cos it’s perfectly beautiful 🥰
I'll quite often sing it in mid July for no other reason than it's just perfection; tradition be damned.
Its not very often u see a grown man see his dream come true.lovley
Hello from Oregon, USA! Frankie Goes To Hollywood is in my regular rotation to this day. What a treat to have Holly sing this live. He's still got it! Happy Christmas to my cousins across the pond
37 years just flew past.

Wow Holly mate you’ve still got it pal after all these years
This is my favourite tune EVER, and always reminds me of Christmas ??? What a voice, Long Live King Holly. I think ive watched this 30X now, 22 on the bounce 🤗🤗
This is perfect. So beautiful, it made me cry, wonderful performance from Holly 🥰👌🏻🥰👌🏻👏🏻
This is Powerful these lyrics are locked in time and threaded into the fabric of society
There's no denying true talent, singing live here, sounds as beautiful and fresh here, as I'm sure it always was, thank you, Holly, awesome, 👌😎😘😇.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood really should reunite and give us something that we all miss from our beloved past.
They have been playing without Holly. He doesn’t want to your.
Should be played more around Xmas one of the best songs that came out around Christmas.
His voice has got better with age, so moving to here him, thank you 🙏
Bloody brilliant. No more words needed.

Where did I buy the single?.
When?. It was first released in 84 by Frankie goes to Hollywood, and has been released a few times since. It was by Jennifer Rush wasn't it?, I think initially. Anyway, easy to download I guess, or buy their version online. Depending on which version you prefer, and there are several I believe.
Hope you have a great New Year, or party, whatever you believe in. Love and respect. ✌
@@pennyroyalt2542 Jennifer's song was entirely different to FGTH. Same title though.
@@clivemitchell4316
Yeah I looked it up after, but to be honest, as I said "I think," I didn't believe people would be caring as I was musing, and basically concentrating on what Holly had just done. I probably got the wrong year as well. But, ah well, nehrmind!.
Hope you had a great holiday period.
I'm a nurse, and part time boxing coach, so I've been on shift for most of it!.
@@pennyroyalt2542 the year was 84, so you know your 80s. I had a good xmas/ny thanks, hope you managed to enjoy some time off. Being a nurse, you deserve it.
@@clivemitchell4316
Bless you a whole day today, but I've got the club for half of it. Least I know when exactly I'll be coming home,.unlike tomorrow.
Thank you again, I'll send out your appreciation throughout my friends. We all need a lift sometimes. Stay safe and well, to you and yours!. ✌
This song is the perfect depiction of what love actually is. Amazing performance, happy new year Holly
Hey Holly, Du hast nichts von Deinem Zauber verloren. Und der Song geht auch heute noch unter die Haut! Vielen Dank dafür :)
One of the best songs of any generation .. I bet it was magical to be there in person... awesome job holly.
Pure talent never goes. Such a great singer
Beautiful ❤️🙏. What a voice !
Very rare to see this man sing !what a pleasure, still got it .
He still sings as beautiful as ever.👍
What a voice nothing lost after all these years love you Holly
Still gives me goosebumps
Number 1 in December 1984 and set to be the Christmas No.1, but knocked off the top spot by Band Aid.
The Power of Love was Frankie Goes To Hollywood's third No. 1 single which equalled the record held by 60s act Gerry and the Pacemakers for the best chart start in history.
Amazingly, their fourth single Welcome To The Pleasuredome stalled at No.2, as did Gerry and the Pacemakers fourth single.
Ironically, the b side to the 12" single of their first single, Relax, included a version of Gerry and the Pacemakers hit Ferry Cross The Mersey, and both bands were from Liverpool.
The backing track on this performance is actually a 1999 studio version from Hollys solo album Soulstream.
The next 2 acts to hit number 1 with their first three singles were Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers, then the Spice Girls.
Holly and the song deserve a better backing track tbf
Beautiful song, beautiful voice. Moves me every time I hear it.
What a shock. I feared it might be awful since he was 24 then and 61 now. BUT IT WAS AWESOME.
Holy Mother of God, what a performance! Legend.
Absolutely nailed it. So great.
Perfection just beautiful !
How fucking good was that. He’s still got a haunting voice. Got to say, the old buggar has aged very well. Top act
OMG!!! Smiles!!!!! Holly still has it! Now a Frankie Goes to Hollywood reunion???
Beautiful.I love Holly. What a voice he has.Brings tears to my eyes.
