A beautiful rendition! I was at MSG in NYC for opening night of their Works Volume 1 tour. We were just kids and didn't have a lot of money , so we had to save a month of salary to get the tickets. It was worth it! So good to hear Ian Anderson again. He nailed it for us in 1976 at Shea Stadium. Traffic on the Van wyck was stopped dead 100s of people with standing on the roofs of their cars cheering while looking at the gigantic theater screen while Ian & Tull wailed on a solo. Between the standing ovations at Shea and all the people parked on the Van wyck applauding, we were surprised Shea stadium we still standing! Good times with good people and great music to accompany all life journeys. Long may you run guys..

I heard the original single playing in a department store, of all places, on the day Greg's death was announced. I broke down in the store. I have all of the material he has recorded, and I saw ELP in 1998. I was too young to see them in the 70s.

I watched this before and didn't realize there was a real choir singing. I thought it was the keyboard doing that. I listened with fresh ears and with the natural echo of the cavernous ceilings and tall pillars it just melds Greg's voice and the choir so majestically. Ian's flute soaring in the background. As the camera panned down past the statue of Virgin Mary I got chills down my spine as the meaning of the words unfolded. I always loved this song when it came on the radio around Christmas ....I have a great appreciation for it now. The Christmas we get we deserve.

Two Titans of music playing the most wonderful and beautiful Christmas song .. it's a very human song as opposed to religious but it has that magic about it and that has been proved here by being played in a church. Every other Xmas song is a party song , to be enjoyed in a party atmosphere. This one is different, it oozes class and one could say it has become a contemporary carol. Rest In Peace Mr Lake, together with your musical companion Mr Emerson you both have given me the best years of my life and continue to do so, X
