This series is great! You should read some math/science RUclipsr's theses and then have them on for a discussion -- I volunteer as tribute!
I applaud this idea !
I’d watch that!!
and that's a good place to start
I like your math video as well!
What a great idea! What's your thesis?
I’m pretty sure she could explain pretty much anything in a clear and calming way. Every time I watch One of these, I feel better, even if I don’t understand all of it. Thanks.
I agree! 😊
I'm so glad I found you!
Science videos seem so clickbaity, and their channels are the cookie cutter type. It's actually refreshing to see you breaking down complex science and mathematical wizardry, so we all can have a chance to understand them.
I dunno if you get this alot. But your voice is soo soothing. you're definitely not hard on the eyes, at all! Actually your flipping adorable!
OK I got some more of your videos to marathon binge watch!
Thank you for your work! This is literally the best example of why the internet is fantastic!
Sincerely, your newest Subscriber! Keep up the great content!
This is one of the best channels that interested me in STEM 😁
It's puts in perspective how smart THOSE people are if someone as smart as you is unable to understand 100% of every word of their thesis... There's average people who are mildly interested in science, then there's people like you who do intellectual reviews of others work, and then there's people who provide those aforementioned work, DAMN!!
You're so good at these! I really enjoyed it. Thank you, Toby.
Also, that overhead projector with the cellophane slides and dry erase marker is soooo old-school analog. Love it.
Toby has the most soothing voice imaginable. It's definitely well suited to ASMR. Cf. 'Quantum ASMR'.
Super interesting. Thanks ! If you’re doing the phd thesis of TV presenters, it would be interesting if you can find Helen Czerski’s. 🙏
Excellent, thanks for taking one for the team. Great animations and projector work - well done!
I smoked a joint this evening and was not prepared to stumble upon this video...mind blowing, what am I only just learning
TIBEES YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST RUclips I HAVE EVER SAW YOU ARE SO CALM AND I LITERALLY LOVE YOUR NATURE YOUR VOICE IS REALLY SOOTHING 💗💗💗
Fascinating how proton structure, and proton decay is still a big mystery for particle physicists.
beautiful explanation as usual from Toby!!.
Toby is a mythical angel explaining science ❤️ Loved your explanation
A living meme, I mean that in the best possible way.
Another great video. Toby is the David Attenborough of math/science
Hey Tibees, read Brian May’s thesis. I heard that it contains the secret to becoming a guitar legend … and some stuff about space dust.
He was the keyboard player in D:Ream, he is a fun guy but I think vastness of the universe was always a bit cooler. I suppose it depends how much you like house music.
Great, I love Brian's scientific discussions and documentaries!
always charmed by the elegance with which you arrange & handle your printed materials.
Omg did I need you in my college physics courses.
I watch a lot of clips about this type of material and usually about half way through, I realize I haven't a clue whats being discussed. I guess I just enjoy listening to smart people talk.
what I like about your videos is how much you make effort to simplify the many theories of physics as much as possible. Amazing work, keep it up!
That you for your insight! Professor @SeanCarroll would be proud! ^.^
thank you my dear for your sacrifice
You have headed in the right direction toward understanding natural phenomena in the universe objectively or correctly when saying that physics of particles is a better way t
of understanding than merely observing such natural phenomena, and subjectively interpret them with nonsensical notions of mathematics, which are full of flaws
I mentioned it quite a while ago, but most human ignorant physicists keep underestimating the role of particle physics
Brian is so smart he scares me.
I liked Cillian Murphy pretty much as a physicist in Sunshine, he met with Cox during his preparation for the role.
T🐝 explains math and physics in a clear and concise way 👍. But to🐝 honest I haven’t got a glue what she is talking about 😂. I find her voice so calming and enjoy the variety of subjects she talks about .
Just a great channel 😊
You still use an overhead projector. That makes your presentation unique on another level.🙂
I too, learn physics best through the analogy of tackling children. Thank you for this insight 🙏
Thanks for your insights and explanations on Brian's thesis, well read with a lovely voice😊
Very invigorating - allows me also to delve deeply into Dr. Cox's works.
I like these bed time stories, thanks!
The "Quantum Chromodynamics" concept certainly could be overwhelming to some. Mathematics to explain the pomeron is of intrigue. As time goes on, questions such as: Why are there generations of quarks and leptons, is there a Planck particle, and what combinations of quarks are possible, muon/pion processing and what is time?! Definitely open to on going learning and evaluation as years progress.
Once again, you were able to explain something that I only had a lose grasp on before. Many thanks for this breakdown. - Cheers.
Going full 1998 with that overhead projector 😁
We still used those at my uni seminars in 2009 🤣
for some reason i got my science brians mixed up-- thought this was brian MAY, the lead singer of queen, who also has a phd in astrophysics. so uh. would love to see that brian's thesis dissected too!
Missed your videos so much!
That was packed with information, a very informative presentation, thank you.
I did not realise his thesis was so recent, he has achieved a lot since then.
25 years ago is hardly recent!
@@piotrgoacki9070 You are correct, but I was meaning recent relative to when he became a professor, I thought his thesis would have been further back in time.
@@keithwhite2986 the professorship was a corrupt freebee, not on merit
I am entranced 😮 Thank you
Thanks for reading his thesis so we didn’t have to. 😂
Also, the real-world examples and analogies help too. I appreciate the car vs. cornfield example.
🌽🌽🌽🚗
I used to think magic existed, then I grew up a little... Then I watched this video and now I'm really not so sure anymore. (insert quote about advanced technology)
Magnificent as Told
By You
Take Care
In terms of popularization of physics I have looked way more at Neil Degrasse Tyson then Brian Cox but I have heard a lot about him and positively. Always great to see you explain things.
2:51 achthschsschcually the arrows for the antiparticles are pointing the wrong way
Your beyond me but I follow and like ,you deserve it
@Tibees1 I can't I have no social media or phone number
I was watching Jetlag The Game and was not expecting to see you in the new season.
that was a very nice explanation and summary. thank you.
I needed this so bad. Thanks
Very interesting! I watched this video several times.
I really like watching this videos high as a kite
really interesting video and i think your production is really good too but i think you could try adding a de-esser since when you say the s sound sticks out a bit
Mam your next video is OLIVER HAVISIDE PhD thesis please
as I really enjoy your expertise as a science communicator, I am a subscriber to your channel and watch the old vids as well as look forward to new ones. Don't know if you read the comments or take requests, but here goes: if you haven't made one already, could you please make a video explaining Bell's Inequality? - I get the point of it, but it's almost like a double negative - if the inequality is broken, then there's equality which means there's no locality or does it mean there IS locality? ay ay ay, my head is starting to hurt again. ;-)
He’s actually an alumni of my high school
Good video 👍. please do more PhD thesis in this series
Thank you for explaining it!
Thank you so much for this video.
You are a wonderful person
Amazing work explaing those.
This felt like the Rick and Morty episode where they explain how a Plumbus is made…
try "Instituto Militar de Engenharia" and "Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronautica" test...🇧🇷
Love this video!
When I watch a video like this I am reminded about how I am person man
Totally alien language to me except for such mundane matters as rubber bands, which makes me feel like an illiterate mortal, but Tibees' (or Toby's) voice soothes me tremendously.
Great video
I don't think I would ever have to, but thank u for thinking that I might.
Who does your nice pen and watercolor illustrations?
This is fascinating to watch. We like to learn more from you. God bless you all the way.
Brilliantly explained
I downloaded his thesis but haven't looked at it yet. Maybe I'll understand it better after watching this a few times!
Honestly, the most interesting thing to me as a computer science student is that the paper is clearly typeset using LaTeX - software still used today for academic typesetting...
I loved his QM and Special relativity course at Manchester
Does catalytic hydrogenation reduce Carboxyl group ?
Dr Fox effect
Just saying in the Feynman diagram at minute 3, anti-particles are supposed to have arrows pointing backwards in time
Tibees or not Tibees. That is the question
Thank you so much for reading it for us!
Tibeeeeeessss ❤
How can I contact you !! I want to talk with you
I thought there would be a bun fight in here over the pronunciation of "quark"
It's such a relief to hear this much smarts not coming out GPT-3
2:30, that meme is 🤌
I am curious to know whether he spells "Universe" the way he says it "Oonieverse"? Just joking :) We all love Coxxy!
Beautiful braid! 😀
A very enjoyable video🥰
Thank you.
I love your videos❤😊
Have watched most/many of your videos, will look forward to this. Do you ever read your contact@ emails?
great job!
3:38 That looks EXACTLY like the tuning capacitor in an old FM/AM tube radio.
Any storry of Stanley Meyer.. (the Inventor of Water Fuel Cell) @ Tibees
Yaay stanley!
I see what you did there. 👁👃👁
Nice subtle reverse psychology with the video title / icon. 📚🐛👀 😅
Hey, I believe your Feynman diagram vertices after the 3:00 minute mark are wrong, antiparticles go backwards in time.
Great video.
@Tibee You're gifted! You're a genius!
I swear your voice is like smooth melty chocolate.
He was simply brilliant in 'Troy'
Is this the thesis he used give wolverine his adamantium??
I got my Computer Science degree in '98. Not a PhD but it did add to my nerd bragging rights. 🤣
In my humble opinion , a degree in CS is now harder to obtain than it was 25 years ago.
@@Hussain9077 mathematics > computer science
@@dac8939 imagine evaluating entire fields by the ease of obtaining a degree in them, worse yet: comparing, especially when they have so much overlap
@@jawad9757 Is a joke. Both great majors and many math majors either become programmers or work in high finance.
@@dac8939 ah my bad, I'm just used to seeing silly comparisons like this as a programmer
Interesting old telescope in the background looks to be about 70mm and genuinely old rather than a reproduction?
This has taught me that I am made up of some very interesting things.
