  • For many newcomers to RUPES polishers, there can be confusion around why there are different versions of the same model. ES? Mark III? What do these mean and what is the difference between them? In this week's episode of RUPES Replies, we address one of the most asked questions submitted by email and social media and hopefully help those trying to decide on their first BigFoot polisher make the right choice for them.

    I am a polishing technician in Korea with excellent polishing technique. If you use it yourself, the difference in polishing power is not greater than what is shown in the numbers.
    If you already have an es model, we recommend sticking with it without spending a lot of money for a new Mark3 purchase.

    Love my LHR ES 21 and LHR 15 Mark II. The 21 is loaded up with microfiber ready to cut like crazy and the 15 is ready to go with yellow wool or yellow foam for final polish. Great pair of machines.

      Hello. I love the thought of working with quality tools however, there's this critic name scott from dallas paint correction that bad mouth rupes polishers. Mostly about the lack of handling curves on cars and stalling out when you apply pressure. Are rupes polishers really that bad.

    • @ShinyFenders
      @ShinyFenders 3 года назад +1

      @@michaelwhitfield609 LOL,, I wouldn't worry about what Scott says. Rupes and Flex are the best polishers you can buy, period. Watch the real experts, Kevin Brown, Larry Kosilla, Jason Rose, ... Watch RUclips videos from all over the world, you'll see Rupes and Flex much of the time. I had pad stall when I first started using a long throw polisher, but learned why it stalled and how to make adjustments to eliminate it. Another option is the Mille, or Flex XC 3401 they will never stall. If a Rupes or Flex is in your budget, go for it. If not, I would look at the Griot's polishers, they make excellent tools at a fair price.
      One more thing, ask the guys from Rupes questions, they've always answered any questions I've had.

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching Wilfred. In terms of wattage consumption (remember that wattage input does not equal working output) the Mille is 900watts and that is largely due to the fact that motor has to drive both movements, so the demand is higher. Reiterating, wattage is not directly related to correction potential, however if you are proficient with a gear driven tool and understand how to maximize its potential the Mille is a great option.

    I am over 65 and I am only doing AIO's or level one corrections on sedans and sports cars, not SUVs or PUs. I.e. back issues and tennis elbow per se. My question is which model, the LHR15 MkIII, or Duetto will produce the least amount of vibration? Weight is not an issue, just vibration. I believe I can get the same results with both machines within the confines of my workload. After 8 years I'm finally getting rid of my Porter Cable 7424xp (5" backing plate). I like the handles etc on the Mk III but I like the size of the Duetto. Is there any future where the Duetto will have a similar body to the MkIII? Please advise which machine would be a better fit for me? Thank you.

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching. When used as a system (as we intend) all RUPES tools boast the lowest vibration of any orbital polisher on the market, so really any of the tools you listed would be a great choice. The 15 Mark III is going to have more correction potential due to the larger orbit, so all other things being equal the Mark III 15 is probably the better choice as it will give you a wider range of performance. In all honestly you’ll be really happy with either one though.

    What is the difference between lhr 15 mark 3 and lhr 21 mark 3

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The 15 and 21 share a similar platform, but there are several differences between the two.
      - Orbit size - the LHR15 has a 15mm orbit, the LHR21 has (as you can probably guess) as 21mm orbit
      - Operating speed - the LHR15 operates at a higher OPM than the LHR21, this is how they can have similar cut and finish performance despite the discrepancy in orbit size
      - Pad/Backing size - the LHR15 runs a 125mm (5") backing pad and mates to a 150mm (6") pad. The LHR21 runs a 150mm (6") backing pad that mates to a 180mm (7") polishing pad.
      The features such as ergonomics, speed dial, progressive trigger, cord length, etc are all the same. Despite the differences the tools perform very similarly. The choice between the two comes down to user preferences and what types of vehicles you do work on. The LHR21 has a distinct advantage in large, flat, open spaces due to the larger pad size and offset. Sof if you polish a lot of larger vehicles, or work on surfaces like boats, RV's etc. the LHR21 is a good choice. The LHR15 tends to be more versatile because of the smaller pad and offset. It can get into more complex shapes and curves than the 21 making it applicable in more areas on more intricately shaped vehicles. Both tools benefit from the addition of a smaller edgewrok tool like the LHR75E to work in very small areas. For more information on the differences of orbit we have an excellent webinar recording that is linked below:
