This always reminds me of my little brother, Mark. It was played at his funeral and I always think about how he was probably scared. He was only 10 when he lost his battle to cancer.

We sang this song at my husbands funeral mass. It always brings tears to my eyes. Also I went through surgeries and radiation for cancer and this song helped me to be not afraid.

I’m not Catholic either, this was one of the songs played at my mom’s clients funeral a long time ago. I didn’t go to the funeral but I have the CD from her funeral and it’s a beautiful song. Wish Christians sang this hymn.

We chose this hymn for my Great Uncles funeral and requiem mass 2 weeks ago on tomorrow and hit me hard as it summed his life so well in this hymn.
For me this hymn calls up childhood memories of when I said goodbye to my first dog, Brandy. My child's brain had perceived part of the verse as "Be not afraid... I -will be with- you always..." close enough? Whenever I grieved the loss of Brandy this hymn would come to mind and, though it would strengthen those feelings of sadness and loss, there was the calming notion that she would always be with me. I have no doubts that I healed from that much faster thanks to this hymn. The power of music!
This song has been ministering to my spirit lately. I use to sing this as a cantor years ago during mass. I have always loved it and grateful it has come to me in spirit during this time. I have been sharing it with family and friends offering hope.

His soul was following the Lord, he passed thru the water and flames, he did'nt drown or get burned. The Lord is good, he is at our side at death to guide us to follow Him. Thankyou Lord.

My nephew Simon was 26 years old and killed in a tragic hunting accident. They played and sang this at his funeral mass yesterday. All day I have used it to help me mourn the loss of this nice young man. I will continue to use it for many years I know. It is emotional but it comforts me. What a powerful song!!
