My cousin and I spent hours searching for that last key. We thought something was wrong with our game and it was glitched out. We went to church one morning and were talking about it and some random kid told us where it was at. As soon as church ended we went home to see if it was true and omg our faces when we found it lol.

4:20 i wonder how the kids playing this game were supposed to find it in 1997

to be fair, I didn't find it till we called Nintendo Hotline, got a hint. they merely said that "find a level that has a bell on it." and then when we began explore the levels, realized boulder canyon has a bell. once you touch it, the bridge goes up. the fact key is hidden above rest of the level, is very clever. developers had planned to make 4th world hardest, naturally its meant to be hidden way you struggle while to find it.
If only they would have had more time, we would have had key door in Future Fun Land too (there is evidence of it being planned in Spaceport Alpha)
