I would love to see it take of again and become popular like it used to be. Too much hassle and drama and social media. Citizens Band (CB) the original and fun social media without all the politics.

Number 2 in the last fifteen years you'd be way more likely to be ran over by two semis than have them stop to assist anyone much less a 4 wheeler.. When big trucks still had three pedals, were not solar powered as to only run in daylight and truck drivers were real truckers , those days I could picture a couple real people offering help. Either way. Stay safe out there and watch out for the other guy because he's probably watching TV while he's driving.
As a cb/ham radio user with many "trials and errors" under my belt, the microphone velcro isn't going to hold. Potholes/bumpy roads and summer heat will make it fall. Both are great for tight spaces. Wife is adorable.
Awwwwws, that was sweet! That's a lot better reaction than I got from my mom when I was 17, too! She went to work and there was a 5' fiberglass antenna on a chimney strap. When she came home - after I had a friend come by during her shift that day - to find a 5' Radio Shack TV mast mounted in the Radio Shack chimney strap mount, and a full blown 18' Solarcon (Antron) A-99 on top of the house. I found myself quite grounded, basically for the rest of the summer and until I moved out the following summer when I turned 18. Thankfully I got my HAM License just after my 18th birthday and I could do anything I pretty much wanted at MY place! (Or so I thought... But that's another story!)
@@degenerals6127 Sadly, being that was 8 months ago that I wrote the above "essay", I really have no recollection as to what I was thinking about when I wrote it. I do recall that my first roommate in my first place got his HAM license quite a while after I did, but in his haste to do something to get on the air, he got with one of our mutual friends that is a HAM and LIED and said he had permission to mount a 2 meter vertical beam directly to the peak of the roof framing of our RENTAL house. That, of course, did NOT go over well with our landlord, nor my late uncle the (at the time) supposed "caretaker" of both his and my property, and I ended up get QUITE the chewing out session. So, deflecting the blame back onto that idiot roommate - where it squarely belonged anyway since I wasn't home for the atrocity - my uncle and I climbed up and removed the beam antenna and filled in the screw holes and painted over the filling. A few hours later the idiot returned, discovered his antenna quite obviously missing from its perch, and "got into it with me" about that was "his property" and I "have no right to do anything to it or move it or tamper with it..." and I reminded him that he absolutely did not have permission to do such an installation in the first place, and that in order to avoid my own self being evicted (I couldn't have cared any less for him at that point because that wasn't the first issue we'd had and wasn't going to be the last I found out soon enough) my uncle had stepped in with the landlord and said that he and I would take it down and repair any holes - which we did. Well, this bit of strife caused daily crap between he and I to the point that he actually threatened me and I threw him out quite unceremoniously and humiliated him in front of his father and several of our formerly-mutual friends (now they're MY friends only after they discovered the truth of what he was. The ones that are still alive, that is.) So, yet another lesson learned about "doing what you want because you want to" even if you think "It's my house, I do what I want." Even today, I understand that there are responsibilities and liabilities for every action. You can't just "do what you want" in EVERY situation and expect it all to turn out ok. Gee. I didn't think I was going to write this much!
I found an old hand held CB in the garage yesterday and bought batteries for it today and I got the same response as you did and I live next to the 10. I guess cell phones are in and CB's are out. I think the new version of the CB is the cell phone with the PTT 'Push to talk.' I think it uses cell towers but there is no charge for minutes and roaming.
i love my cobra 29 lx mine is mounted sideways in a tacoma center console with an external speaker to hear everything. also had mine tuned and peaked along with a 450w linear amplifier it will reach about 20 miles on a good day.
You'll like FM mode. As I write this (NSW Australia) our local GSM mobile phone and mobile internet towers are down, no signal whatsoever for a few hours now, here, CB radio is the fall back emergency comms system. Folk should have a set installed or kept ready in store. Think civil defence etc. Look after each other. Cheers!
I've had CB's in the past when I was trucking. And last week I just put one in my Truck. I have another one to put in the Lexus RX350 for the Wife. So if we do some traveling and camping we can talked to each other. We do use walkies when we Kayak and trail ride.
MagneticMic makes a metal attachment that goes on the mic hook. You can then attach the Scosche magic mount flush mount to the dash by adhesive and your mic sticks to the dash magnetically and doesn’t flop around like that Velcro.
If you don't understand how they fit everything into that radio you should stick with C.B. radio. Enjoy and have fun with it. I'm happy your wife likes it too.
I don't see where Ham radio is of any use for on the road traffic information. For car to car family communication often other family and friends have zero interest in a Ham license. Contacting the world through repeaters while driving down the highway serves no purpose other than as a hobby activity. The data plan on my phone is too limited to leave on for travel information. So CB is it if I want to know about traffic hazards ahead.
Hi One Road. I wanted to get back with you regarding an antenna evaluation. I just got in the new K40 Magnet and I assembled it on the K40. Please advise how I can get the antenna to you for evaluation (specifically comparing it with the K30 and the Little Will). FYI, I am near the Greenback Maryville Knoxville area.
i have a cobra 148 gtl in my car next to all my ham radio gear just to note. that velcro will drop off the dash on the first hot day, i recommend using 2sided tape with the metal hanger if you dont want holes in the dash 73' k7sce
I’ve been wanting to get a handheld CB setup for my Buick Encore - crazy, right? Nothing too fancy. I was thinking of going with a magnetic antenna mount for the roof, But I’ve been having a hard time figuring out how to run the cable into the vehicle. Should I be overly concerned about closing the door on it?
One suggestion: screw the metal mic bracket to a small piece of plywood, then use Velcro to mount that to the dash. That way the Velcro doesn't wear out over time, and would actually make it easier to pick up the mic.

I do this because I prefer to rent a vehicle, rather than putting all those miles on my personal vehicle. Financially it makes sense to rent a vehicle if you are planning to put over 800 miles on it.
Yeah I’ve gotta get one of these. I didn’t have any room in my trailblazer for one but now I do!
Great little radio. I love mine. I recommend the mic upgrade. $50, it is from President and has noise cancelling. Most importantly it sounds way better than the stock mic. Great woman for getting down! The new FM sounds great too!! Cheers!!
Cb radios need to come back
I agree with you 100%.
@@mr.duckplucker5353 I agree as well.
Met girls on the CB sometimes, back in the day, some had nice smiles, but not one ever looked as pretty as that smile on your wife. Nice video.
told my 10 yr old daughter about CB radios, i couldn't find one at pawn shops, she quickly look and found an app, she thought it was cool, told it ain't the real thing. now i can get one. Thanx
😱”You put a CB radio in my car???” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My wife would have been the same way. Lol
The Uniden PRO 520 is the crowd pleaser. RF Gain and most functions are knobs. I like ceiling mounted radios and long antennas.
Nice job, I'm glad she liked it.
Haha, me too!
When the zombies come 12v is all we're going to have, and your wife is a complete smoke show .
Wow. My wife would kill me if I installed any sort of 2-way radio in any of our vehicles...I can't even call it 'CB' without the stigma and being thought of as a weirdo. That's been pretty much reality with any woman I've ever known.
I feel ya Good buddy love my vintage CB
Very cool discovery ,THANKYOU for this video similar to your CD storage area I drive a older Chevy 3500 Dually Duramax truck that has a Conversion package on it similar to the way they did many vans my truck has a overhead console that came with a built in radar detector and garage door opener I think I can remove those and fit that President CB in it’s place which is better for me as I do use my truck for pulling campers and boats on the highways and it’s a better way to communicate with the truckers as well as often I travel with freinds and family in other vehicles I have been hoarding small and portable CB radios I find really cheap online and swap meets I like the compact GE Help ones that are self contained ina nice little case with a magnetic antenna BTW your wife is both Beautiful and Adorable with a great personality and smile
I love this couple. They're adorable.
Always have a backup plan. Burt Gummer would be so proud!
I remember the CB craze of the mid-70s. Never owned one myself, but you saw a lot of cars with CB antennas. Then there was the CB "slanguage": good buddy, smokey, what's your handle, what's your 20 and, of course, 10-4.
You're going to make CB radio great again LOL
Channel 19 used to be a hoot, now its real dead!
@@robertl.fallin7062 I know in my area at least 8 to 10 people get on the radio with less than a 10 mile radius.. so I'm always here in some type of shatter. Not to mention lower sideband I hear a lot of locals on Lower sideband in my general area
It's coming back right after disco music returns!
@@jeffsor47 you never know it just might. Because history has a habit of repeating itself
@@TM-gv6zv And Disco too!
I've been watching your videos since the gasket replacement lol God bless you and your family
This is awesome! My wife won’t let me install either a CB radio or GMRS radio. I have a Uniden Pro520XL (instead of my old Cobra 29 LTD) with a Tram 300 antenna and a Midland MXT275 GMRS micro mobile with their Ghost 3db gain antenna (it’s about the size of a salt shaker) in my vehicle. Both are great for tight spaces. Wife is adorable.
You should have drilled a permanent antenna mount on her roof. Who needs a wife anyways?
Wow I never even considered velcro for the mic...that'll give me more mounting options in my 97 Blazer. Awesome.
You dodged a bullet on this one lol.. Funny how a dude will say: "cool radio man", she says: "it's so cute".. Awesome 👍👍
Hey Jimmy, Just outta curiosity, do you have a base station installed at the house or have any intentions to the future?
Beautiful, oh and the cb is nice too👍🏿😁
Your wife was great!
That's what he said! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
But that's another story!)
so whats the other story
@@degenerals6127
Sadly, being that was 8 months ago that I wrote the above "essay", I really have no recollection as to what I was thinking about when I wrote it.
The ones that are still alive, that is.)
So, yet another lesson learned about "doing what you want because you want to" even if you think "It's my house, I do what I want." Even today, I understand that there are responsibilities and liabilities for every action. You can't just "do what you want" in EVERY situation and expect it all to turn out ok.
Gee. I didn't think I was going to write this much!
Thanks!
woah, thanks a lot! epic coffee time inbound.
very nice install neat and clean now try in your suburban a President McKinley sideband radio.. I've got one and been telling to the UK all week long
Hi Jimmy; What about a "RIGHT ANGLE 4 PIN CB MICROPHONE PLUG"? May come handy. Best wishes 'n Stay Safe y'all 👍🙏👍 !!!.
Except it’s not a 4 pin
Your wife steals the show. She's funnier than you.
she is .
and he isn't the least bit funny anyway
yeah more of her less of you
You're killing me Smalls! Use a standard mic clip mounted to a piece of plexiglass and attach larger velcro to that.
Genial este video !! saludos a los dos desde Andorra !!!!
My wife would be pissed lol. You're a lucky guy.
How is the sound with it mounted in that slot?
I said “We need” a Micro digger and a mini tractor to cut the lawn and the misses just laughed and said “No.....”
i love my cobra 29 lx mine is mounted sideways in a tacoma center console with an external speaker to hear everything. also had mine tuned and peaked along with a 450w linear amplifier it will reach about 20 miles on a good day.
And if the cell phones ever go down you still have a way to communicate. Voila
Cheers!
Jimmy what a nice lady you pick for you’re wife congratulations you look good together see you on the next one
I've had CB's in the past when I was trucking. And last week I just put one in my Truck. I have another one to put in the Lexus RX350 for the Wife. So if we do some traveling and camping we can talked to each other. We do use walkies when we Kayak and trail ride.
How blessed are you. Man! Way to go Jim
MagneticMic makes a metal attachment that goes on the mic hook. You can then attach the Scosche magic mount flush mount to the dash by adhesive and your mic sticks to the dash magnetically and doesn’t flop around like that Velcro.
You act surprised to it's size. A cell phone is smaller and it's also a radio and does more.
If you don't understand how they fit everything into that radio you should stick with C.B. radio. Enjoy and have fun with it. I'm happy your wife likes it too.
She's got potential Jimmy.I think with a few acting lessons, she would be workable...😂😂😂😂
Thats funny u thought the same thing lol
Great little cb radios by President. Starting my own collection. 👍
That radio is way never getting used except once to humour you lol😁
What's the range of the cb radio ypu installed?
Everybody needs a wife like that... you're a lucky man! :)
Good job. Your wife is a adorable!
I installed the same CB in my Sequoia in January. Wish it had come with that plug for the USB outlet.
I know right! It may be a simple plug but it’s definitely nicer looking than an open port.
GREAT VIDEO,You’re wife’s voice reminds me of that one chick from two broke girls show love her voice.
i have a cobra 148 gtl in my car next to all my ham radio gear
just to note. that velcro will drop off the dash on the first hot day, i recommend using 2sided tape with the metal hanger if you dont want holes in the dash

Cute couple, cute reaction!! Great wife!!!
No.
Well at least you didn't piss off the wife. Always a good thing .
One suggestion: screw the metal mic bracket to a small piece of plywood, then use Velcro to mount that to the dash. That way the Velcro doesn't wear out over time, and would actually make it easier to pick up the mic.
My wife would chastise me! She sees no use for those things. I was a CB’er and now a General class Ham. Still hate all that.
I’m glad your wife loves it, President I feel puts out the best radios!
