      atol sporsho Conservative doesn't equate to oppression or bad evil. You need not blame Arabic invasion to say why Indian women were(are) conservative. A modern women can very well choose a conservative lifestyle and accomplish well with her career while another liberal modern woman can also spoil herself with drugs and end up being homeless on the pavement. There is no point in blaming conservative or liberal mindset for our own personal mistakes.

      harris.tariq45 I'm afraid you're not quite right there. The word India is derived from the name of the river Indus. The words India, Indus, Sindhu, Hindu, Hindustan all have the same origin. Native Americans are called Indians because Columbus initially believed he found India when he stumbled upon America.

      I think it's about balancing two cultures. It's clever and it's funny.
      It's similar to me and my family laughing (with fondness) at our heritage: my mum and aunts, forever in their curlers and scarves in the '70s; my long-departed grandparents' Welsh accents and language; the daft songs, my grandad made up, that we all sang. It's shared experiences that me and my cousins can laugh at, even while we remain fond of every little absurdity.

    I think this is the best comedy ever written and brilliantly performed. Goodness Gracious Me made me realise how many incredible parallels there are between Indian's and Irish (and probably all immigrants). My parents believed everything virtuous in this world was Irish (and they bestowed on me a passionate pride in Ireland). I hope these second generation Indian's families are proud of them - they are progressive geniouses but I can see how their elders would be hurt by their irreverence.

    It's making observations of Indian attitudes, upbringing and sentiments....especially that of parents. It's relatable with a slight exaggeration : )

    love the way teh son says "noooooo"
    and the other guy in the father role does a great job of being a "Desi uncle"....great acting done by both!!
    i've seen their other skits and this one is the most realistic/funny acting i've ever seen!! 2 thumbs up!!!

      Beggars are the ones that ask for money on the streets.
      Often these are people with disabilities and malformations who struggle to get a job because there is always someone considered less conventionally "ugly" who the employers can hire instead.
      I think India has less of a safety net for the unemployed.
