Right there with you. I'll be 57 on Wednesday. 😳 Journey was my first concert. Was 14 at the time. Hard to believe it's been 43 years! The only music worth listening to now is the music from back then. Only listen to Steve Perry's Journey, anything after him isn't worth it. But yeah, I stick to '80's music. ❤

Greatest time to be a teenager. So much great music. Journey was part of every summer in the 80s. Sneaking cold beers and drinking them on top of a car hood with this song blaring while staring at stars at night.

She likes Africa, Rosanna, only two songs that they dance, sing....rest of the gig, even if my daughter play piano, sings very nice, she didn't pay attention one second on some other songs, again, she hears music, especially jazzy chord changes(TOTO's full of it), reason are selphies, talking about what phone has a better camera and similar shit. After that they didn't notice that concert continues with Arnel Pineda with Journey.

How many other people watch this video or listen to this song every day? I literally do at least once a day if not more. It takes me back to when i had my El Camino in the early 90s and my whole life ahead of me. I would listen to my Journey tapes (later cds) and just enjoy life. Over 25 years later, i still get that same sense of happiness listening to these songs (this one a tad more than the rest). That's the beauty of timeless classics like this song. Sorry for the long winded comment, just curious of other fans memories of this great music?!

So glad he's decided to return to music. His voice has sorely been missed. He sounds exactly like he did before he left. I look forward to hopefully see him live if he tours.....

While I don't listen to this song everyday Journey remains my number one favorite 1980's music group. All of their music when Steve was lead singer has a lot of energy and sentimental memories for me. I listened, on cassette, in my first car (79 Monte Carlo with T-Tops) cruisin' town. I had to replace my Journey tapes often. My head unit was a Pyramid and was easy on tapes. I just played my Journey tapes too much.
Steve Perry is genuinely one of the best singers in the world. I’m 18 now, but I was introduced to Journey by my mom when I was 11, and it was my first introduction to rock music. Since I’m Gen Z and never would’ve heard of them otherwise I’m so thankful that I get to be a fan because of her. I lost her when I was 13, and I miss her everyday, she was my best friend.

@Travis Bourg This is live, although it may have been fixed up in the studio. The "someday baby" part at the end is not on the Raised On Radio album version. This track, along with Girl Can't Help It, appear as live bonus tracks on one of the ROR re-issues. They also appear on the Time3 box set.
The saying you don't know what you got until it's gone comes to mind, watching the 80's fade as a teenager and now looking back , what a time it was!
This song came out after after a break up with my long time boy friend I was devastated. A few months later, I met a man who became my best friend. 7 years later we started dating and we married in 1993. We are still together now and he is still my best friend. We have two adult children. I am definitely fine without the old boy friend and absolutely found someone else -my soul mate who I love and who loves me. This song has so much meaning for me personally.
One of the few bands that sounds as good live as on a record. Not something many bands can say. Steve Perry was an enigmatic sound.

I was just fine with Randy but I so hated it when Steve Smith was replaced on drums. He was a fantastic drummer and if you doubt it watch him do his drum solo on the 1981 Live in Houston escape tour. Steve smith KILLED it on those drums to perfection. I've never seen or heard anyone do any better than what he did that night. Thankfully The full Houston concert is saved on RUclips. The entire band was 100% on point at their best the whole concert, and of course Steve "the Voice" Perry was at his usual awesome best.

I've seen dozens of vocalists live, and there's only two that seem to go above and beyond what they even produce on their records - George Michael and Steve Perry. The soul and "real" feel they brought to their live performances when they were out there on the stage was legendary. I wish I could go back in time and travel to watch them on a few legs of a tour, as some were lucky enough to. To me, Steve Perry is the greatest rock singer of all time. Freddie and Robert Plant are close, but Perry, oh em gee...
