LUNCH POEMS: Adventures with John Ashbery's Typewriter (November 17, 2021)

We celebrate the presence of John Ashbery's Royal KMM typewriter in the Poetry Room with this "Lunch Poems" workshop hosted by Ashbery biographer Karin Roffman (author of THE SONGS WE KNOW BEST: JOHN ASHBERY'S EARLY LIFE, 2017) and Emily Skillings (editor of PARALLEL MOVEMENT OF THE HANDS, FIVE UNFINISHED LONGER WORKS BY JOHN ASHBERY, 2021).
The dynamic duo discusses the poet's writing process and present several “exercises in not making sense,” as well as some writing/collaging experiments that Ashbery concocted for his students.
