  • A biographical look at the life of American Poet John Ashbery as told primarily in his own words. In this program Mr. Ashbery recounts his childhood and time at college. He further discusses his time as a young man in New York, his struggles, his friends and associates. Later John tells of his time in Paris and its impact on his writing. He next discusses his return to New York after the death of his father, and the work he undertook during this time. The piece concludes with his return to France, and his thoughts on his writing process.

    Ah I'm glad to finally get to watch this. The Poet's View DVD hasn't been available in my country. Do you have the programmes of the other poets, besides Ashbery and Glück? Regardless, thank you for making sure folks from all over can see these little known looks into some great poets.
