Excellent. If you can beat him on Adventure, you can beat him on any difficulty. Just have to level up your gear which will happen as you continue your adventuring.

Is it just me or did everyone spam their bow and artifacts

It is a stat-based action-rpg like Diablo, not skill based action game like Helldivers. Spamming whatever you have is all that is required. You win or lose based on whether your stats are good enough. Most of the "skill" comes from knowing what your stats / effects are and if you can keep healing yourself or need to avoid taking damage.
Doesn't mean its not fun, just doesn't really require more thought than spamming bows and artifacts as you observed.
