Ok the fact that Kent made you that scarf was unexpected and adorable. I was thinking your mom or sibling was going to come on, but Kent was so much better! Props to him for taking the time to learn a skill to make you something from the heart. And no shame for letting it go. Things in life change, like our needs, style, and storage space to name a few. The memory will always be there!
So much to say! Bless Kent's heart for arm knitting you a gift! I feel you on the being a tad controlling thing but bravo to you for recognizing the need for delegating tasks. I loved the book you're currently reading. Can't wait for sock week. Wait it's after midnight, I can cast on!!!!!
Wishing you safe and fun travels, Natalie. Please, do keep on top of the weather conditions in the areas you will be traveling through and to. I will be keeping you and your little family unit in my prayers. Love your channel and I look forward to sharing in your future adventures. 💜✌️🧶
Moving out of your NYC apartment sounded horrendous! Glad you are safely at your Mom’s now. Kent’s scarf he made you was adorable and what a kind gesture. Can’t wait to see your new van!
Things I've learnt during this podcast: I'm a huge soppy-doppy romantic. I mean you do you, but I really could not have found it within myself to get rid of that scarf!
That was so lovely to see Kent sharing how he went about making the scarf for you ❣ It is totally ok to let go of memorable items, especially if they are no longer useful or used, displayed or going to be used a family heirloom... Otherwise we'd keep EVERY SINGLE ARTWORK from school or daycare or whatever that our children do and it would eventually disintegrate, get mouldy or moths in it and so on. That's not a loving way to take care of a memory. Also the person is not IN the item. Neither is their memory. I love to take a photograph of the item being used and that's as great as having the actual item so it can still be shared should I want to, but takes up less room, even more so if a digital photo. So I applaud your choice to move this scarf along.
OMG the Magic Knot Ball!!! You should use this one as the beginning of a magic knot ball made up of scraps from all of the projects you work on during your van life adventures. Then when you find the place you'll be landing afterwards, you can crochet up some sort of granny blanket out of it, and give it a border with a special yarn from your new LYS. It would be so cute and sentimental, and give you a way to process all the experiences you had along the way.
Kent & your parents are such a blessing! It takes around 21 days to create a new habit. Our brains become wired or rewired over time as the things in our lives change. Even something as simple as rearranging furniture can take about 3 weeks to get used to & decide if it's really better or not. After your little family gets traveling around and seeing the states, after a few weeks you'll feel a lot more settled in as you adjust the van to your own liking. Wishing you all the best of luck on your journey!
Speaking of scraps and knotted yarn balls, my favorite way to use leftover sock yarn or fingering weight yarn is a vest pattern. You’ll find it in a little book by Red Heart called “MORE Than Socks”. I’ve made two from scraps with a new skein for the neck, arm, and bottom edges. I’ve gotten many compliments on them. Btw, it’s a jaygo motif in crochet.
Have to say congratulations on your “moving style”! You and husband have already coordinated so many steps toward your van lifestyle. I wish you all the best and happy globetrotting!!!
Awwww! It’s adorable that Kent made you a cowl! He put time, effort and most of all, thought into a gift for you. Much better than something like, say towels, for you birthday. (There’s a reason I’m divorced 🙄)
thank you so much for answering my question I am amazed at the work you get done each week and you are not alone my husband is a perfectionist and he gets so much done and is a master at multitasking and always ask my opinon on things but does it his way lol and with God's blessings we have a wonderful business !!!!! I love your podcast and will look forward to the next adventure
Idea for the magic knot ball. A 10 stitch blanket. I'm making a 15 stitch blanket 10 stitches of colour plus 5 stitches of black to use up my variegated acrylic
You have no idea how perfect the timing was for me to watch this as I am actively working on a baby blanket for my pregnant bff. it’s a granny square flower blanket that alternates all neutral squares with colorful squares and I was going to start with the all neutrals and I now know I should wait on that and do the colored ones first ! Now I need to look up a tutorial for join as you go because I’ve never done it before
#question Hi Natalie, I loved hearing all about your behind the scenes for juggling all the business aspects! Do you have any advice for a newer podcaster? Maybe some do & don't recommendations? Particularly one who does not sell anything or dye yarn or design, but simply enjoys sharing knitting content. Maybe ways on how to get your channel out there a little more. Thanks so much, your enthusiasm is infectious!
You have to see the yarn store in Rogersville, Missouri! I can't think of the name of it but it is the only one there so it should not be hard to find. It's an old Victorian house converted and there is yarn in every room!
Took me back in time to remember when you had to wait to get on Ravelry. Look forward to watching you finish that Battenberg blanket and most of all, to following your travel adventures.
#question I love hearing about the "behind the scenes" of how you and Kent run the business. I guess my question is this....what exactly goes in to planning and recording the podcasts? Do you write out a script? Do you film the different sections separately? Do you ever have to stop and start over? Or film multiple takes? How many?
I think you should still publish your sock pattern. For money! They are beautiful, well thought up and.... anyone is entitled to make a slipped stitch design. There are thousands of designs. Someone is bound to make something similar and you deserve credit for making this and coming up with all your amazing ideas.
I felt similar about the Sutton Foster book. I still liked it because I knew her from Broadway and everything, but definitely not as much crafting as I expected from the title.
Such fun topics, content. Really enjoyed the interview with the person, Kent, who made you that sweet infinity scarf of love. lol I'm midst moving too and hoping to get it together in time to cast on with you all. Take care sending cheer and blessings.
To minimize your scraps... I think making more squares for your blanket would be fun. Or maybe one row of a border.. it is scrappy and fun and incorporates all the colors that are already in there.
I'm knitting the mini mock neck right now and I did exactly what you plan to do - after I joined the front and back in the round, I picked up the stitches on the neck and finished that before going back to working on the body in the round so that I can make sure the fit is what I want AND so that I can see how much yarn I have for the length. I highly recommend this method!
Question: I am so excited for you in your next adventure. I will definitely be watching and following you and Kent. I am so warmed by Kents' desire and follow through in making you that scarf. I wondered if you could repurpose the yarn into a small "coil basket". During the pandemic I made a few with thinner yarn and I wondered if you could do something like that? As you can imagine i can't bring myself to part with anything that brings me warm sentiments.
#question Hi Natalie! I absolutely love your creations (both crafty and digital content). In your last video you mentioned you have purchased 4 advents for the year, are you sharing which ones you have bought? Also, do you have any tips for purchasing advents/ when to start watching for them? Thanks!
45 minutes for each trip down!?? 😵 moving is always stressful, but that sounds exceptionally bad haha thankfully it's over and done with, and makes for a good story!
#question: I'm in the process of making my second Musselburgh hat thanks to your brilliant cast on tutorial video. This time I am making a striped one and I'm debating whether I can avoid weaving in the ends of my stripes because they will be "hidden" inside the tube when it's finished. Will you weave in the ends on Kent's Pokemon Musselburgh hat?
I watch the videos Trent and Allie make. They have a business that custom builds vans for those who want to enter van life. Their business is Mountain Made Vans.
I’m sorry it took so long to move out of your apartment. Our apartment allows us to exclusively reserve one of the elevators for a maximum of three hours if we are moving.
#question Hi Natalie! I am using the helical knitting method that I learned from you to create mini stripes in a vanilla sock I am knitting. The problem I have is being unsure of how to tink it back when I need to, which, unfortunately, is more often than I'd like - LOL! When I tink back multiple rows I can't see where I had done the slip stitches. Does that matter? Do I just tink all stitches the same way regardless? Any recommendations? Thanks as always for your help!
#Question: Hi Natty! You've mentioned about unraveling a wip and starting again. After unraveling a project, do you use the yarn right away or do you let sit in a ball for a bit for the yarn to relax? Or do you do a treatment to it as steaming or washing? I have unravel a project and the yarn is too curly to use, I'm afraid is going to affect the new project I'm repurposing the yarn for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love and well wishes on your new adventures. Noe (from Argentina 🇦🇷)
#question Did you do a border on your granny stripe blanket? If yes what did you do? I am halfway through a granny stripe blanket and not sure if it needs a border or not. I love your podcast and have watched them all ❤❤❤
I am looking for the video that you measure your foot on a piece of cardboard then measured it for the length to do your foot. If you can tell me which episode it was in. Love your videos.
Well, your infinity scarf made with love and Kent is so sweet to have gone to so much trouble. And you were also so sweet and politically correct because let’s face it, that thing is gawd-awful ugly and I thought it was like a macramé hanging at first, lol! Or maybe a failed yarn bomb. Sometimes we keep things for a very long time for sentimental reasons, but I will tell you that as one gets older, you get over it. Au revoir, infinity scarf!!
I think you strike just the right balance with advertising and product promotion. Completely transparent and I’m sure you wouldn’t praise a product you don’t sincerely like. You need to earn a living we aren’t paying you when we watch for free on RUclips.
#question What is your thought on unpaid partnership with yarn brands ? Like yarn dyers or yarn brands sending yarn for free to designers or influencers with a large audience, asking them (or saying "you don't need to talk about it" but fully knowing they will eventually) to talk about the product and advertise for it, but not compensating the creator for their work. Basically getting a huge visibility on their product and even sometimes a design made with it, without paying anything more than 3 skeins for the hard work of that influencer neither to do the advertising, nor to get the audience they build up for years. This would be absolutely unthinkable in any other sphere than fiber arts, so why do you think it's so common here ? I even feel like people are adverse to having their fav fiber influencer getting paid to work with a yarn brand/dyer. To me this feels like saying "I like your content but only when you're doing it for free, please quit your job to make time for quality content but die of hunger while doing so, otherwise your opinion is biased and unvalid"

That is so adorable that Kent made that scarf for you! He is such a great guy, and you are so lucky to have him!

Love Sundaes Ice Cream! That is where I would always take my kids after special school events.
So thoughtful of Kent. Great job. Im thinking it could become a hammock for Toaster in your travelling van.
People who want a knitted version of the float tote could make a large bag then shrink it so it's thicker and more stable.
Thanks for answering my question
I’m so happy my project bag made it through your decluttering for your travels! 🥰 So excited to hear about your adventures. Enjoy every moment!❤

Yes to a crochet class!!!
So glad you’ve given yourself time with family before you’re van life kicks off!
Great podcast as always Natalie. My Enchanted Sock set from Obsession Yarns came today!😅❤❤
Yay received mine on Thursday ❤ I was on my way out the door to work so haven’t actually looked at it properly yet 😂
@@juliekennedy1296 it’s really beautiful!🤩🤩
Omg I thought your mom made you that scarf and when Kent appeared on screen instead I was like AWW!!!! What a great person!
Welcome home. ❤ I'm in NC near Asheville! So we're neighbor's! Happy 4th. I hope it was great for you, Kent and Toaster!!
Such a sweet thought for Kent to make a scarf.
The Float Tote Class sounds like a great idea! I have knitted for years but my crochet skills are very limited. 🧶
Girl, you're ✨glowing✨!!! 🤍

Kent is the sweetest 😊
Battenburg magic knot....use as blanket edging. Little picots or bobbles
Great podcast. Missing you already!
Omggggg Kent is the sweetest 🥹
Kent's gift is so sweet ❤. I am so looking forward to your van living adventures!!
Awe! Kent, you did a great job on the hand-knit scarf!❤❤
Omg when Kent came on the screen I was like whaaaattt ! That was so sweet of him to do that for you. Aww
So glad you made it to TN. Moving is rough. Have a safe trip picking up your van. Cant wait to see it. 🧶
You deserve all the success, great to hear about your brand deals, your hard work is being rewarded
Making a dotted rays shawl would look pretty cool out of the magic knot ball
May your travels be filled with joy and discovery. Looking forward to your travel videos.

Woohoo! I love Kent’s shirt! Go wings!!!!
The hearts project bag is great!
Maybe incorporate into a crochet pillow to throw next to the blanket, it would coordinate well 😊
Took me back in time to remember when you had to wait to get on Ravelry. Look forward to watching you finish that Battenberg blanket and most of all, to following your travel adventures.
I follow Ellen’s Sew and Inspire podcast. Just love her!
I joined Ravelry in 2005 and found it cumbersome. I really only use it to purchase patterns. It is still challenging to find project and group pages.
We probably passed you on our way East going to Cookeville Sunday Evening!

Hello from Mounds, Illinois.
22:56 that Christmas gift!!😍😍 that would be hard to part with. Can you not repurpose it? Use it as decor or something?😉 such a sweet labor of love!😊😊

You may have said this, if so I’m sorry…what size hook are you using on the blanket?
Ugly naked guy was from ' Friends '😅
😢can you recycle the yarn from your Hubby's work, even just stuffing into a toy/pillow??😮
#Question do you use a row counter when you knit? If not how do you keep track of what row you’re on if it’s a two row repeat?
🎉🎉🎉
I need the pattern for the project bag!
i’m new to knitting but I recently found a love of sock making! How do I join the sock week discord?
How about a float tote knitted then felted?

Can you tell me how to get the Sock Week T shirt?
Just curious - did it seem like there were many more commercial interruptions than usual??
Couldn't you frog the infinity scarf and use it for something else?
Where can I get a coupon code for sock week? Anyone?

one sock or a pair of socks for the google form
