At the first sound of the trumpets, you already know that a Queen is coming out. Even in death, the regality of QEII was never diminished. The accompanying tolling of Big Ben & the gun salute from Hyde Park during the whole procession only added to the aura of power that even in death the soft power of the throne exuded for all the world to see. A fitting tribute to the end of an era and of a reign of a beloved Queen. This procession and the march that the bands played has never failed to amaze me, even 2 years after QEII's death.
This funeral march was hands-down my favourite royal procession ever. I know that may sound insensitive to death, but honestly the music was regally epic.
Isn't it fantastic that the weather has been nice for all the ceremonies for the Queens journey to Edinburgh from Balmoral, for the ceremonies in Edinburgh for her lying in state in St Giles Cathedral, for her journey from Edinburgh to London, and today for her journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall? Yet, on the day the Queen passed, the rain was torrential here in Scotland, and last night, when she arrived in London, again, the rain was very heavy.

The riderless horse, makes me so teary
didn't see the whole thing but it's not the Queen's horse or anything, because it's a gun carriage I think there is one solo lead rider and the six horses only have riders on the left line. My reference for this is my Airfix Battle of Waterloo set by the way.
I read that it is referred to as a lone charger also called a caparisoned horse often used to symbolise a fallen soldier and is reserved for extraordinary individuals, led by the Cap Walker. When President Kennedy died, the horse had the boots in the stirrups backwards

The Princess Royal is the hardest working princess in showbusiness. She doesn't get in the papers, she doesn't embarrass anyone she just does her job. That's why she was in uniform while certain others.....err-humf.......were not.

At the first sound of the trumpets, you already know that a Queen is coming out. Even in death, the regality of QEII was never diminished. The accompanying tolling of Big Ben & the gun salute from Hyde Park during the whole procession only added to the aura of power that even in death the soft power of the throne exuded for all the world to see. A fitting tribute to the end of an era and of a reign of a beloved Queen. This procession and the march that the bands played has never failed to amaze me, even 2 years after QEII's death.

This funeral march was hands-down my favourite royal procession ever. I know that may sound insensitive to death, but honestly the music was regally epic.
Isn't it fantastic that the weather has been nice for all the ceremonies for the Queens journey to Edinburgh from Balmoral, for the ceremonies in Edinburgh for her lying in state in St Giles Cathedral, for her journey from Edinburgh to London, and today for her journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall? Yet, on the day the Queen passed, the rain was torrential here in Scotland, and last night, when she arrived in London, again, the rain was very heavy.
