  • This video shows the step-by-step procedure for replacing the door boot (also called the bellows) in a common Frigidaire front-load washing machine.
Unplug the washer to disconnect electrical power before beginning this repair.
This process can be done with the front panel in place.
For demonstration purposes, we show some footage without the front panel in place.
To remove the bellow, start by pulling back the bottom of the bellow slightly and using a pair of needle-nosed pliers to remove the spring clamp.
Next, cut the cable tie and remove the ART (Advanced Rinse Technology) hose from the bellow.
Remove the LED light assembly from the bellow.
Reach underneath the bellow and remove the inner spring clamp.
Remove the bellow from the washer.
To install the new bellow, insert the slot at the top of the bellow into the slot at the top of the groove of the tub opening lip.
While holding the bellow with one hand, place your other hand inside the bellow and force the groove of the bellow over the lip of the tub with your thumb.
Move your way around the opening of the tub and force the remaining parts of the bellow onto the lip with your thumb. Seat the bellow inside the tub lip groove.
Fold the bellow into the tub to install the inner spring clamp.
Starting at the top, slide the spring clamp into place and clamp it down.
Begin to feed the spring clamp into place around the tub about 1/3 of the way.
Secure the spring clamp down with a second clamp.
Continue installing the spring clamp until a third clamp is needed to keep the spring clamp in place.
Finish installing the spring clamp and remove all the retaining clamps.
Reinstall the ART hose on the new bellow and secure the hose in place with a new cable tie.
    Reinstall the LED light assembly.
To install the outer spring clamp, follow the same procedure used to install the inner spring clamp.

Thank you for this video. It was much closer and much more helpful than the instructions that came with the boot (what I’m supposed to do with those “spacers” I still have no idea.
HOWEVER! The one thing that could be improved is suggesting something for getting that inner spring over the edge. Plastic bicycle tire levers did it for me in an instant after fighting with it for about a half hour.

Is it normal for these washers NOT have an ART hose? My bellow has the hole where it is supposed to go but nothing is there. I noticed that the small crevice in between the bellow and the washer is extremely dirty. Should I call frigidaire about this?

VERY POOR VIDEO. When installing the new door boot, the person is first doing it with the front of the machine on. Then in the very next scene, the washer is mostly apart with the outer tub removed and on the floor, face up. Clearly the boot cannot be installed with the machine fully assembled. Don't lead viewers into taking parts off and trying to put new ones on in the wrong order. If the other parts must be removed first, show that - in the CORRECT ORDER. Lousy instructional video, dude.
