More About This Video:
Fortus goes on to say, “These work perfectly for me especially in the Guns N’ Roses scenario where I’m using sort of a low gain amp with more of a higher gain amp and Slash is playing Les Pauls and this (Falcon) seems to really balance that nicely," he said. "It adds a lot of low end and top end and brightness and charm to the guitar but still really heavy, and I have not had any issues with feedback. It’s been great.
“They’re incredibly powerful and cut through a mix really well and the way they frame other guitar tones is really cool. They really work well together.”

He plays the majority of the show on that guitar while Slash switches between 15 Les Pauls.
That's because Gretsch guitars can stay in tune!
I don't mind slash making money off his legacy but he really lost his edge badly over the years and he seems like his ego had gotten pretty big since rejoining GnR.
This dude is just a musician who does it for the love of music. He's a gear head, he really experiments with his own rigs and sounds. I really respect him for that.
I love Richard Fortus, he's my favorite tone.
Billy Duffy is like a master of the Gretsch White Falcon!
I think you play that the way it wants to be played. It speaks to you and you listen
Fortus rules. Has for some time now. Hope to see him with a sig model someday. =]
I have the G5240TG in the 'white falcon' White and Gold livery and it's been a revelation. In isolation,, while a hollow body and filtertrons sounds 'big' as hell I wondered if it was too chimey and bright-sounding to replace a fat, gainy humbucker sound in my main band where I'm the only guitarist. Well, in the mix, where in some venues the subtleties of the guitar can vanish into the mud, everything had great cut and I can back off the gain and add a little compression for beef. As it has so much definition I'm able to bring out more interesting chord voicings and appegiate more, rather than feel forced into power-chording for rhythm work all the time.
Anyone in a guitar rut who wants to throw in a curve ball should buy a Gretsch.
thank you!!
ok I'm sold
Definately. I'm the only guitarist in my band and I'm gigging an Electromatic double cut. One of the true hollowed models - no block. I take a les paul or tele as a backup, but something is lost whenever I use them. The Gretsch just has that chime, drives and crunches really well and looks cool as heck!
I absolutely enjoy Richard's playing and explanations of his setups. Very technical guy, outstanding musician that does it right. He sold me on his white sig Falcon. Thank you Gretsch for your products.
I have a 1979 Gretch white falcon and I play the hell out of it. Nothing like that sound. All original. Neck is incredible and it was made in booneville arkansas and I’m from arkansas so it’s double cool fo me.
Definitely look into getting a video done with Stevie Young!
He seems like a cool guy. And man can he play!
He’s absolutely right. I really don’t know why more people don’t use them for rock. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
