Yeah Jane and Lisbon won't get physical until the show is on it's last season and even then probably at the end of that season. But as you mentioned RJ is the "roadblock" and the key to Jane's personal salvation.

Physical chemistry doesn't mean romantic involved. Emotional chemistry doesn't mean romance. A romantic connection can't be define but only a physical or emotional chemistry. Have to be both, but especially is going to depends in what each individual are looking in a relationship. Jane, is not ready to have a real relationship, his haunted by guilt, anger, and fear to loose people he cares. He might like any other man, is not inmune to a physical attraction, so he probably will have those moments with a lady or more. But he won't be committed emotionally with anyone. I'm pretty sure He has physical attraction for Lisbon, but he admired her, he sees her as Strong woman, someone he can rely on. At this point she is the only person he trust. Lisbon is a woman too involved in her work, she isn't in a point to get involved emotionally with anyone. Her relationship with Jane at this point is as friend, but she also has some attraction towards him. She hide somehow her real emotions, sometimes she can giving some emotional reactions, but like Jane, she is not opened emotionally to a relationship. But their friendship is growing closer. I believe eventually they can establish a romantic relationship, but they need to go through their own process of discovering their own feelings, and what they want. Weather they will discovered they love each other, and come together as a couple or they stay as friends, is something remain to see.
To be honest... I think that they kinda overreacted. Yes it was dangerous but she had ridden horses before she could probably tell if they horse would be dangerous before the horse would have damaged her too much.
I think Jane and Lisbon make a great team/friends, but I can't see them romantically involved. They have good rapport and can easily joke; that doesn't mean they are set to get married. Jane and Lisbon don't have that physical chemistry as well, maybe verbal chemistry but not physical.

I agree, when you compare them with Grace and Wayne, they have passion, their romance in season 7 was weird, at least for me anyhow

Well, turns out they did have the chemistry. Their romance was a lot more old school. Sweet, deep and classy. Not crude, crass and animal like.
