My mom has late stage cancer. We weren’t expecting her diagnosis; she went in for an unrelated surgery and they found a huge mass all tangled in her abdomen. That night, after not eating all day, my dad and I went to get something to eat, next to the hospital. I gave him my headphones and had him listen to this. He just... needed a minute. He had just had to go into the room the love of his life was in and tell her she had cancer and it was bad. On top of a chronic illness that would have eventually killed her regardless.
I wanted a song that he could just listen to, not try to pick out each word, not try to analyze, but just experience. He needed a moment. We had to get back quickly, so I had to choose one song for him to just zone out to while he ate (I still couldn’t eat). I’ll always remember this song as being something that helped comfort him, as it had comforted me in my nerves before her surgery.
That was January. They wouldn’t let her start chemo until the incision healed and infection (staph, how fun) kept that from happening. She’s finally getting treatment, chemo, Monday.
The cancer’s had a year to play and do its work. I don’t know if we can make up lost ground and fix this, buy her a few years to watch my brother become a doctor and to see us both get married, to maybe become a grandmother. But we’re certainly going to try. I’m sure this song will be a comfort many times before all is said and done.

It's exactly like someone said before in the comments: it's the kind of music you just experience, not listen or analyze. This song has helped me, too, through some of the toughest moments of my life. So yeah, the water did take the weight from me. Being born in a city by the sea, I'm drawn to it on a deeper level. Even as a kid it meant so much more to me than the usual summer entertainment version. Whenever I listen to this song, the mood becomes bittersweet. I feel like I want to cry, because it brings back memories that I tried so hard to distance myself from, but, at the same time, it gives me some sort of reassurance that someone understands me and it's ok to feel the way I feel. So my tears are both tears of joy and sorrow.

When I had my depression my bf couldnt help at all, he didnt know what to say and what to do, but now I see clearly he was ready to do anything to help me feel better. All I had to do is to say what exactly I needed. So, yeah, we do understand you, youre not alone. But please dont forget that you are loved, even if sometimes it's hard to feel

I spent two weeks in Cape Town last year. I played this song every morning while walking along the pier, it was perfect. The orange sunrise reflected upon the surface while the waves crashed against the rocks. It was magical. This song will always remind me of that place.

It is kind of miraculous, right? When my mom got diagnosed with cancer (late stage) out of the blue, during unrelated surgery, my dad and I went to get some food before he sort of kept vigil in her hospital room that night, and I could tell he just needed to get away from everything and unplug a minute. But we had to get back to the hospital soon, because they’d close the entrances except the ER and we’d have a long cold walk from where we’d have to park. So I picked this as the one song I had time to show him while he ate, just handed over my big over the ear headphones and sat (I couldn’t eat) while he collected himself to deal with the next 12 hours. I think I’ll always remember this song for that, and be grateful that it helped make that night a little less horrific.

This is an amazing song it's one of those songs you could listen to anywhere. You could be driving home from work, relaxing on a beach or taking a road trip across the country.
Such emotion jolt through me. I feel the deepness of the bass. It sounds like when you're in the bathtub and you sink your head under water and I can hear all the movement around me. When I dive into a pool and sit on the bottom. My ears crack and kind of hurt giving me instant migraine pain. Into the ocean, I will never know. That is a whole other world. To learn to swim or just admire its beauty from a distance. Such a beautiful song when my heart is healing and healed. When my mind says peace be still.

I know this is not a religious song but I feel it's a song about forgiveness. I choose to forgive you not only for what was done to me but because we all need a bit of forgiveness for ourselves to see ..sometimes we don't see it till things are ripped away from us ...not to hurt us but to refine us and wash us like water does at the ocean does. May we never forget how cleansing the sea will wash all our pain and renew our faith to make up feel whole and free if we close our eyes we can almost hear the ocean waves beat on our chest to wash ,cleanse any impurities that's was before just like a paper cut any form of water to the touch with salt burns our skin but with time it won't hurt us but we will heal from all the effects of the wounds it brings .It's hard to live through it all but your never alone when I am here each step of the way.

This song carried me through a volcanic eruption, with no running water, electricity or internet connection, ashes that turned days into nights, pyroclastic flows that thankfully never got to my house, ashes that seeped through every crack and crevice, sleeping with a mask on to keep the ash out our lungs, and a roof that's barely holding under the weight of the ashes. I had this on repeat and everything was okay.

I don't know, how i can express myself good in English. The last years was really hard for me, so much things happened in my Life. One thing is with my Mum and my little Sister. So often they fighting and screaming :( and im feeling so helpless. Sometimes im feeling alone, not alone that i have no friends or something, i mean alone, in my Soul & Heart. In the past, i always was nice and lovely to ppl, much of them don't appreciate that. Sometimes its hard for me to Smile, because of all this things. But i never lose hope, that it will change in the Future, i hope so...because God give me that Beautiful life, and i trust him so much. The believe in something, gives you Power, through this difficult times! Peace

this long reminds me of how my life was a year ago, I was very happy but I was battling with my mental health. I was in a happy and stable relationship with someone who I admired. I had peace in my life from that one person presence. I had a reason to get up every morning. Now, I don’t have any of that apart from still “battling with my mental health” which I feel like I am loosing. I wish my life could go back to how it used to be that’s all I want. I want to be at peace.

Drove the 15 mins to the beach after hearing this song, put my headphones on and watched the sunset.....I forget I live so close with all the daily tasks I never make it. My only wish was that my husband wasnt deployed and that he was by my side.
