He was an elusive, slippery, shifty power back with uncanny awareness and sense of timing in his cuts and moves. I so wish he and Antonio Brown would have stayed and kept playing well. Ben, Bell, and Brown were one of the best trio’s in NFL history.

Probably the best 4.6 40 RB to ever do it. Never had the home run speed, but damn those first 5 yards went by in a blink. His ability to blow through a hole, stop dead, take a read on his blockers, head fake an incoming linebacker, then spin and hurdle his way to 10,20, 30 more yards was unmatched. As a Steelers fan it felt like every single year with the Killer B’s was going to be #7, and that we were never out of a game. Our defense just wasn’t playoff caliber, most notably after losing Shazier. Miss those teams though.

Let's not forget his production in the pass game, as well. Also, a solid pass protector when need be. He essentially improved every season during his Steeler run until the contract situation became a mess. One of my favorite backs of all time.
@ifheavenwashuman , basically had 4 good years then fell off a cliff. Only had 3 seasons where he gained 1,000 yds rushing. But he was my favorite RB as well. Disappointing how he fizzled out. Could have been a Hall of Famer if he was more focused
The 40 yard dash is inaccurate. I'll tell you why it's so inaccurate. Watch Xavier Worthy's manipulated 40-yard dash. He bent his elbow at the start of his dash & this allowed his legs to go in motion while the start clock never started ever so slightly shaving hundreds of seconds off his 40. It's a sham. The only way to get an accurate time in any race is to have a gun start with a lazer finish in any distance. This is called a Fully Autamtic Time or FAT time. This is how the Olympics & most track events at any level time the most accurately.
Here's some more perspective. Everyone that's an NFL fan & in the NFL believes that Xavier Worthy is the fastest man in NFL history when he's not even in the top 70 fastest men ever. All we can do is take his best FAT 100 meter time & it's a slow 10.65. Chris Johnson & John Ross both ran 10.66. Now a these times are very fast for football but they aren't fast for track & we all know there have been some extremely fast players that ran fast track times that played in the NFL. I'll give you the top 5 fastest men in NFL history to give you even more perspective.
1. Jim Hines 9.95 (Olympic Gold medalist 100m)
2. Trendon Holliday 10.00 twice (NCAA Champian 100m)
3. Jeff Demps 10.01 (Olympic Silver Medalist 4x100 but stripped of medal bc teammate tested positive for band substance)
4. Jacoby Ford 10.01 (ACC 100m champion)
5. Bob Hayes 10.06 (Olympic Gold medalist 100m)
24. Tyreek Hill 10.19
36. Deion Sanders 10.26
Not even in the top 60 fastest men in NFL history Bo Jackson 10.44. That's how slow Bo, Xavier, Chris & John were as compared to the fastest men ever.
I'll leave you with more facts. Tavon Austin only ran a personal best of 11.47 in the 100m which is so slow in female track & field. Yet he was "timed" at a 4.25 & 4.34 at the NFL combines while Trendon Holliday who is the 2nd fastest player in history was "timed" at a 4.34 & he has an incredible start in track & field.
Take the NFL 40-yard dash with a grain of salt bc it's extremely inaccurate. And my childhood hero Bo NEVER ran a 4.13 ever in his life. In his imagination yes but never in real life.

This was such a fun time to be a Steelers fan. Him and AB were a show every game. Still cant believe the Jesse James no catch call against Pats in 2017. Really felt like they wouldve gone all the way that year had they won that game
If I had to pick one steelers rb for a win or go home game it has to be bell. Absolute complete package in his prime. Run, catch and blocking. Vision, quickness, strength he had it all. Just a shame things went the way they did.
He got greedy. The guy was good but the pine was better than him, he forgot that. That's why he had a hard time in New York, Kansas City, and Baltimore. I don't feel sorry for him.
The 38 yard TD run against Cleveland might be my favorite run by him. No way he should’ve scored but them dead legs and head fakes made dudes fall into each other taking them out the play. He was special.
Not the fastest guy in the world, but super shifty & elusive. Made multiple guys miss & turned 1-2 yard gains into 7-8 yards for YEARS.
Le'Veon Bell was his own enemy. Somewhere along this journey he stopped using the gift God gave him and thought he was BIGGER than TEAM.

what could have been. as a "younger" steelers fan those were my golden years. that offense was special. wish we had the classic pittsburgh D to go along with it.

He he reminds me of the hypothetical if Barry Sanders and Marcus Allen could have a baby it would be Le’Veon Bell what’s even cooler is I’m from the same neck of the woods went to the same high school just 30 years earlier and it’s very awesome what he did for the new high school that they built he purchased pretty sure the whole football field and stadium it’s really nice certainly wasn’t that nice when I went through there

Came to watch this after hearing him say recently he wants to come back to the NFL and play for the Steelers. He truly is a talent. His burst speed and ability to stop on a dime to change directions just caught defenders off guard. By the time they knew what was happening, he was already bursting in the other direction and GONE.
Imagine if he had better speed his peak would go down as one of the GOAT RBs.
I remember immediately noticing the sound of intense pad popping anytime he made contact the first few times I watched Bell play. It immediately jumped out to me. These were sounds I hadn't heard from a Steelers back since prime Bettis.
I’ve always said that. He was just a master at letting the line develop on the play and taking full advantage-but he had a skillset to allow for that. He was elusive shifty and quick enough to make that style work. If you’re a guy like Najee Harris, well…playing like Bell makes zero sense.
Steelers' version of Thurmon Thomas.. he was that dude. 💪🏿

LB could cut back and change direction as well as any running back I have ever seen. He could make linebackers miss and look foolish. His top speed wasn't great. In these video clips you can see even when he was in the open field, someone could always run him down from behind.

I've never seen anyone run like him. Not a top speed guy but he wasn't slow and everything else was on point.

I think if he had the top speed he probably wouldn't have developed that patient style he's so good at. Run straight past your blocks cause you'll outrun everyone anyway. He had to make up for it with stutters and subtle direction changes

Our offense might have been really good but in the years from 2014-2017 we didn’t even have a top 10 defense until 2017 which bell was already going out because of the money situation and Antonio brown was a great wide receiver but wasn’t a team player in my opinion. If he didn’t get the ball he would wine and so many time Ben tried to accommodate brown and it would end up getting intercepted. Right now in the league we are an offensive line away from running through the league. Pickett can’t get going if he is running for his life and getting smacked every game
Yeah Pickett is being put in an impossible position. They need to build a line for him asap, especially since Canada is gone now

Isn’t that crazy? I was just talking about that with a friend, because you got guys like Bell, Brown even though Brady eventually got him in the door in TB, Claypool, and others I’m forgetting. The Steelers seem like the opposite of the Pats, where instead of making the best out of mediocre skill players, the Steelers just get the best out of high-skill players, then ruin them, and ship them out😂

Emmit? The most overrated running back in history. I’d take Bell over Smith any day and twice on Sunday. I agree he was very elusive like Barry without the top end speed, but bell had him in the size and power with his 6’1” 240lb frame.

I was just watching AB’s career highlights right before this , how do you have the Best WR, the Best RB , Best OLine, Top3 QB in the League, (and to keep in context Ben was only Top3 because he played at the same time as AllTime Greatest Top5 of AllTime Tom Brady & Payton Manning) Oh Yea , Also a AllTime Great Coach in Mike Tomlin , how the Steelers who are known to be a defensive great football dynasty not get to a superbowl with 1 of the best offensive units in NFL history! They had this offense all together for 5 years, and for 4 of those 5 years they was in their prime ! Bell’s second year in the League he made AllPro and never looked back and AB , Ben And The OLine was already in their prime at the moment! A great opportunity wasted

Bell got hurt in 2014 & 2015 and 2016. 2017 should’ve been it but our best defender in Shazier really cost us a Super Bowl run with his injury

The problem is, he gave up his legacy for money. Then when he didn’t get the money he wanted in Pittsburgh he went to New York and got paid less than he would’ve gotten had he not sat out that year. By staying in Pittsburgh, he would’ve become a hall of famer easily and a Pittsburgh legend who would want for nothing in Pittsburgh, like all the backs before him, but he got the big head and thought he was better than everyone so he sat out and ultimately ended his career. He showed glimpses on the jets of his former self, but nowhere near as prolific. He could’ve been a Jerome Bettis or Franco harris for the city of Pittsburgh.. it’s a shame. I’d take bell in his prime over any running back in the league currently

What an amazing athlete, I wish he never would have left. It sucks that money matters so much to these players when they are all filthy rich anyway. He belonged in Pittsburgh yet he left because the contract wasn't big enough.

ill never forget the game where he DESTROYED my Chiefs.....they gave him the ball 9 carries in a row.....9!!! and there wasn't a damn thing KC could do about it. it was infuriating to watch, especially when he did that sit, wait then burst through the gap and then break like 2 to 3 tackles every damn play lol. after they finally started to slow him down they'd put him on a wheel route or something and just throw the damn ball to him. He was an incredible talent to say the least.

Unfortunately he and AB both could have been the greatest of all time on their position, had they not let sheer greed get the better of them. The joke is on him, as he could have easily made the same amount of money while putting a couple of rings on his fingers, if the "work ethic" mentioned in the end would have included simply fulfilling one's contract. He would have get paid more *anywhere*, but including the Steelers the following year. Had he and A. B. simply done their job that year, they would have been unbeatable. Now it's questionable whether he'll even be inducted into the HOF.
