How indignant can progressives make themselves? There’s a real competition going on. And it’s sweeping the nation: progressive vs. progressive competing to see who can most flamboyantly claim to be offended; to proclaim that their feelings have been hurt; or that their sensitivities have been rubbed raw; or their serenity disturbed; or their composure discombobulated, by something that someone has said. Or by something they have seen. Such as a Confederate flag or a building named after Woodrow Wilson.
But, actually, I think progressives are not sufficiently imaginative. There are many more things they could be indignant about. Starting with where I live-Washington, D.C.
The Washington Post newspaper is -- if it will pardon the expression -- on the warpath against the name of the Washington Redskins football team. The paper says the name is racist, insulting, demeaning, insensitive, and so on. But the Washington Post takes its name from its city…which is named for George Washington, who was not only a slave owner; he was a tobacco farmer, which some progressives probably think is almost as awful.
Surely the Post should change its name--and should demand that the nation's capital be renamed. Perhaps as Eleanor Roosevelt City. Obviously it cannot be named for her husband -- he who ordered the internment in concentration camps of 117,000 persons of Japanese descent, two-thirds of whom were native-born American citizens.
And there are hundreds of other towns, counties, parks, and schools named for Washington. Such as Washington and Lee University. Good grief: The name is double hate speech: Robert E. Lee actually commanded the Confederate Army.
Washington is not the only name progressives should scrutinize. The word "Oklahoma" is a compound of two words from the Choctaw language-words meaning "red" and "people." If it is intolerable to have a football team named "Redskins," it must be worse to have a state named "Red People.” But let's get back to cleansing America of all mentions of historic figures who were less than perfect progressives.
On the Tidal Basin in Washington there is a memorial for the slave-owning Thomas Jefferson. This memorial should have a "trigger warning" carved into its marble.
Jacksonville, Florida, and Jackson, Mississippi, and many other places and things, are named for Andrew Jackson, the tormentor of Native Americans. All must be renamed for someone who was saintly, as progressives understand saintliness.
And speaking of saints:
Surely good progressives are traumatized by the names of St. Louis, St. Petersburg, San Diego, San Antonio-not to mention Corpus Christi.
Progressives like it when courts rule that non-denominational prayers at high school graduations violate the separation of church and state. Why, then, don't they consider it a constitutional outrage that there are cities named for religious figures? Including Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco. That city is-if progressives will pardon the expression-the Vatican of American progressivism.
Progressives should demand that all such cities be renamed for progressive saints. Tony Bennett could sing, "I left my heart in Nancy Pelosi City." Or we could give these places names that give no offense because they have no meaning.

I go to a private liberal school in Baltimore, MD. You would be appalled and flabbergasted by the amount of progressive political correctness that is apparent. If you even slightly challenge black lives matter, and if you are lucky enough to have a black girl in the room (theres only 3 in my grade), than they will scream and curse at you and run out of the room crying. Our teachers protect the outbursts against conservatives. It is a rough world to live in if you are a republican, however it definitely prevents you from being a lazy republican.
That's true. I've seen some of the same things at a private college here in New York State. The Democrats don't do too much, but the Republicans on campus work pretty darn hard.

Grades also differ from school to school. In my old high school it's mostly independents who have the best grades, honestly. I think my anecdotal evidence is just as valid as yours.

I have a degree from a public university in Baltimore, where radical progressivism was the only acceptable ideology. I entered with somewhat liberal views. By the time I graduated, I was quite conservative with some social libertarian beliefs. I admire quite a few aspects of classical liberalism...but extreme progressivism is closer to regressive fascism. Regressivism discourages free speech, uses coercion to force acceptance of a dominant ideology, promotes a culture of fear, and encourages hatred.
Regressives often discuss how the republican party fails to do anything about the most extreme members, but ironically don't seem to understand that they are equally as extreme as those they criticize. They use the same fear mongering techniques, have no problem lying & abusing research, and are equally willing to abuse government so they can achieve an agenda through social control.

The thing about Prager is that even though they are a conservative organization, they still publish a variety of ideas. Even occasionally hosted by people like you, who are self-proclaimed liberals, but express legitimate criticisms of the liberal party.
Thank you for being a big enough person to admit that, seriously. All I ever see are people on *both sides* taking legitimate, logical arguments and profusely claiming they're wrong without any reason why because it's the other side or their pride was hurt or something. It takes a big snowball to admit somebody may be right or at least have a point. Also, I think you should check out more of Prager U's videos, you might find more you like. Dead Locke said it already, but there are a lot of politically diverse people on here talking about important issues. Even if you don't agree with their argument, you're at least more informed. That's why I really like listening to PragerU videos, I don't always like or agree with what I'm hearing, but at least I'm just a little less ignorant about the topic.
I dont know but I think this video is a little exaggerated... I have encounter easily offended people on any of the sides of the political groups. I think we live in a era where anybody is looking for something to be offended and start an argument with whoeber doesnt think like them... Cause now days is not about being correct, it's about feeling correct or appropriate, and making the opponent feeling incorrect and inappropriate and laughing at them on their face. That's what I have seen on every group. Cant have a conversation anymore without being demonized for making someone feeling "uncomfortable". And that is a very single group.

I think an important distinction needs to be made between progressives and the regressive left. I myself would say that I am progressive but agree 100% with everything in this video.

Have another look at the comment, specifically the 10th word of the second sentence.
That is to say, I agree with all of the POINTS being made by George Will, not the literal meaning of the sarcastic positions he takes to make them. It is so obviously sarcastic I didn't think anyone would take it otherwise.
You are probably more of a Libertarian would be my guess. There are a lot of conservatives who overlap with Libertarianism. Me being one.
Steve Prestek you are correct, although probably a soft Libertarianism and I actually prefer Ayn Rand's Objectivism (there is a role for the State), although they are getting closer and closer with time. When I say progressive I mean socially progressive, but I am definitely economically conservative (classic liberalism). I believe in a minimal safety net (so people aren't dying in the street), education for all (equal *opportunities* not equal *outcomes*), and as little government regulation as possible (merely to maintain a level playing field and prevent abuses of money/power). After that sink or swim. Governments shouldn't be telling people how to live their lives, imposing morality, protecting people from themselves, regulating language etc. As long as you aren't hurting anyone the government should just leave you alone.
I congratulate you Trevor, your thoughts and beliefs are smart. In political parlance you would be a "small 'L' Libertarian (libertarian). I think this is what you identify as "socially progressive" but it is really more Libertarian. This is what I have gravitated to myself over the years (Democrat - Republican - libertarian). I believe that liberalism and now what they call progressivism (coined today to dodge the "liberal" moniker that is now derided by many) are largely a bankrupt political ideology (only differing in name) only still with us because of their support in the halls of academia. For whatever reason liberalism and now what they call progressivism became the ideology of big stifling government and political correctness in its most virulent. I think it is because most people will refuse leftist ideology when given the choice so liberals have turned to populating the government and using the courts to press their agenda. Rand can be a tough read but her ideas and beliefs are spot on. Hold your freak flag high and feel the embrace of conservatives but watch out for the hate and retribution of the left. They don't cotton to differing opinions gracefully. At least that is my experience.

the problem with slippery slope fallacy is that its only a fallacy that the next step will 100% be taken. Its undeniable that the taking a step up a ladder makes you that much closer to the next step.
