I love that Danny is putting pets and people (sick or passing) in different categories. It IS different and should be treated differently.
Also, on the subject of bf leaving work party because of gf’s pet falling ill; let’s imagine he was in Japan for a work trip. Would he be expected to drop everything and book the next flight home? No. Now if the gf was in the ICU, yes, probably would be expected to act urgently. So if it’s not important enough to drop everything and travel across the globe, then USUALLY okay to wait few more hours.
I feel for the gf being sad plus birthday, and acting hastily but also, hoping as a few days passed, they were able to discuss and understand each other and celebrate her birthday after all. Together. 💞

my husbands bday is december 16th, my mom’s is january 5th & my daughters bdays are january 6th & 11th… the whole season is just a money drain & it sucks for them. i try extra hard to make each of their bdays special bc i know most people either won’t feel up to it, won’t be in town, or are just broke af from the holidays. i hate when parents combine their kids bdays w the holidays. my husband never got bday gifts growing up. they were always “christmas AND bday gifts.” super shitty. i’ve been making up for it for the past decade.

My daughters birthday is 12/23. It’s the worst people assume 1 gift is fine, no one wants to party the day before Christmas Eve/Christmas, most are out of town or doing last minute Christmas stuff.
