i was wondering if you could help me i just required a pole position and i did the coin switch to get credit like you said but now it is stuck in free play mode. how do i get it out of free play mode
My coin op has 3 wires black, red, and gray which two do I hook to the button? I'm assuming red/black but what's the gray for? It's an old cab from 81.
Unfortunately, we can’t really go by just the colors and tell you which two wires connect to your coin switches. The best thing to do is to identify the coin switch wires on the harness that connects to the game board, trace them down to where they go in the cabinet, and then connect them to your coin switch at that point. This will ensure that you are using the correct wires. Since it's an older game from the early 80s, the manual should tell you what the pinouts are for the game. You could also just do an internet search for the game name with the word "pinouts" on the end and probably find them as many arcade reference sites have the pinouts for different games posted. Hello, I’m about to purchase a Galaga style Multicade using a JAMMA board, and was wondering if there is any way i could get Galaga 88 (Galaga 2) on it. For some reason Galaga 88 isn’t on JAMMA and it’s a bummer because it’s my favorite arcade game of all time. Is there anyway to somehow get it on my cabinet ?
I need help please. I purchased a Cinematronics World Series the season. I can't get into the service menu. I'm following the manuals instructions. It's on free play. Is there a different way to get to the service menu.
John, getting to the service menu on World Series: The Season is different from other games. Let’s take a moment to verify the procedure. You need to hold down the Player 1 Start button while pressing the Service button inside the coin door. Then, release the Player 1 Start button and the game should enter the service menu. If this is not working, it could be that your Player 1 Start or Service button is having a connection or switch issue. Double check the wiring going to both buttons. Make sure that their connection to the board is good. You can test this and the button switches using the continuity check setting on your multimeter. If you need additional help with your issue, we will be discussing your question on our Live Show Episode 68 which can be found at the following link: ruclips.net/video/Tvdi9WQy5Sw/видео.html
I own an original mk3 cabinet in there is umk3 rev1.1, its been giving me a hard time reset/glitchy graphics. I decided to switch it up with my mk3 board this board is working great just no sound?
So, it depends on the cabinet. Several home-use Pac-Man cabinets have been released in recent years that do not have the ability for coin play. To check if yours can be switched, open the coin door and make sure that your game has the coin mechs and wiring installed. If it does, it should be as simple as changing a soft or hard dip switch setting in order to turn off free play mode. Please send us some pictures of your cabinet via email (questions@arcaderepairtips.com) or give us some additional details if you need more help. Also, just wanted to let you know that we will be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 72 on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 5:30 PM CT. My friends dad worked on video games in the early 80’s. We would go with him and play the latest games all night. We invited a wire to get credits off certain games. Also we learned how to take the glass off of Donkey Kong and click credit. 😉
I have a Valley Cougar Dart game with Honest Ernie and it doesn't always register my coins when I enter them. It's like it picks and chooses when it wants to give me a credit. What should I do?
Start off by checking the coin switch and the wiring between it and the board. It's common for this wiring to get pinched in the coin door when it is closed which can damage it over time. Coin switches will wear out over time as well and may need to be replaced. Mark, if the pinouts are similar to Crazy Bugs 2 (manualzz.com/doc/6701189/crazy-bugs-2---j-h), you should be able to wire up a button to trigger the coin mechanism like we discuss in our post on Adding Credits To An Arcade Game (And Setting Up Free Play). Do these instructions work with a dance Dance Revolution extreme arcade cabinet or no I don’t have one but I’m just asking in case I ever get one
Yes, these methods should work with the vast majority of arcade games that have a standard coin door setup. Hope that helps.
