You can also ensure your miners and traders (mule haulers) trade with you and only you, by using blacklists for the ships, and trade rules for the wares on the stations. that way the miners will only sell to the stations that belong to you and your mules will pick up and drop off only at your stations. From there you can create a central warehouse that sells to other factions.
The repeat orders is a good system for a few miners but I found it required too much micromanagement with multiple miners as the resources deplete from the sphere. You can automate both mining and trading by building a mining hub and let the station manager to worry about that. A basic container and dock costs less than a million credits so price isn't a real issue when scaling the operations up.
mining station ends up costing you twice the miners in that you need collectors and then also miners to sell them. Making Sector Automine fleets means that all your miners mine AND sell. Using a blacklist on the leader of the fleet and having all the other ships in the fleet use mimic commander, you can have an automine fleet that supplies only your stations.
@@Erduk What if the resources to be mined are in one sector, and the buyers are in another. That's the problem I'm running into. Cardinal's Redress has ore and all the HOP sectors around it are buying. I don't have a good way to mine the ore and get it to other sectors without either (1) using a station (inefficient like you say), or repeat orders (which is cumbersome to manage). Thoughts?
@@jamesmartin6535 Use advanced automine anchoring in cardinal redress and set the selling sector limit high enough for them to travel to hop sectors, set a fleet leader up and have everyone under him mimic the command.
Really good explanation. I just buy some mining ships because my auto trader don't bring enough money (he's not 3 star...). But I use The mimic option. I set 1 miner to mine and other miner to mimic him, and they both mine and sell independently. So, the reason I use the mimic and of course the commander fleet, it's because it cost less to assign 4 fighter to protect all the miner of a sector, than assign 4 fighter to each of them. I could assign 2 fighter to each, but they will be less powerful. If I have 10 miners in a sector, 9 gonna mimic the leader and they all mine independently and I can assign a lot of ships to protect the whole fleet instead of protecting each miner. But I really like this repeat order thing, I'll try it right now ^^. It's just because I love creating fleet with my miner, it's easier to protect them.
Great tutorial, thanks for the tips on repeat orders. I did not know some of the things described in the vid. I have discovered that if you set a ship to collect drops on repeat, if that ship has at least one inventory item collected, you can right click it from the map and tell it to deposit inventory. It creates a loop where you don't have to check on it yourself and should it get destroyed you will only loose a tiny amount of inventory items. The rest will be in a storage unit in the lab in your HQ (left of the boron).
In my experience it does not ignore the other mine orders. Even if it is full it will fly to those other mine locations before going to sell. So not the worst, but it seems anytime you use different sell/mine orders it will still fly to them to try the order, fail that it can't, then go on. If you have multiple locations in sell it does as you expect. You can't do that for mine though.
Same, noticed that multiple mining locations adds quite a bit of wasted time to routing. With full cargo it will still hit all the other mining locations to fail its check before moving to selling. I switched all miners to just single locations, and seems to be filling up ok.
@Sanguine can you recommend any rich locations like that for mining sillicon? Especially near or in Sol? I have found supplying multiple computronic substrate factories to be a challenge, even with three dozen L miners :/

I don't know why they self destructed the perfectly good mining systems they had before. I'm using so many mining ships now. It takes hundreds of miners to supply yourself now.
bah god damnit, I never noticed the "quantity to keep" was in reference to how much cargo the ship was to maintain in its hold. I kept sliding that all the way to right assuming it was the amount to sell/transfer to the station. Couldnt figure out why my repeat orders kept toggling between buy and sell and not moving..... Great video. Thanks lol
I just started with V4.0 and COH. I was wondering how to use repeat orders. What perfect timing! I am using it while my pilots level up to autotrade. Thanks!
I am still sad you can’t make a trading fleet with repeat order, but I think it would surpass the auto trading then. But ES could give us a group function to make the UI sorted. That would reduce the overfloating the UI with unassigned ships.
Been playing X4 again and your videos have been very helpful. Thanks! Quick question on collecting drops, do you need to add something to the orders to drop off the collected items or does the ship do that itself? I am thinking more of the personal inventory items but I guess that would apply if it picks up wares as well. Again, thanks!
Another awesome post, Captain! Thank you for this great tips video! Hope you and all your family & friends have an awesome Easter Sunday and Week ahead!
On buy and sell you can add multiple locations which allows it to check for the best buy or sell price between all the locations rather than just going to the next step, you can add as many locations that buy or sell the good as you like. I felt like doing this worked even better than advanced auto trading, just takes time to set up. I personally use this method all the time now. I recently updated some of my pilots to advanced auto trade, but they make less money doing this now.

Commander, any idea what the Sync Point is for? I see it under my Sell order. It creates the Dock, and Dock and Wait,.. but just below that is a selection I can make for Sync Order. Any ideas?
It's to allow you to, as the name says, synchronise 2 ship orders to happen at the same time - eg say you have multiple cargo haulers if you have sync orders on a move command they will all move at the same time - like a convoy rather than feeding peacemeal into a pirate infested system 1 at a time

I've got a big mining operation at my HQ, and i have ships flying buy/sell orders to a big terran complex to feed it minerals, but most of the ships are in a constant loop of buy/sell that keeps skipping back and forth. Great video, thanks. Not played the game for ages, since before any of the DLCs, now thinking getting the last one (already have first 2). Anyway, question. for the trader etc, when Selling you suggest selecting each 1 jump away to try and sell, then select each 2 jumps away etc. does the ship HAVE to fly to each one to check the price? what about if they are no satellites? or doesn't it matter for the AI ships I own, do they just "know" the prices, even if it was 5 sectors away. Also if a ship picks a buy to go buy X for Y amount, and it's 3 sectors away, by the time he gets there an NPC could have bought a load and dropped the price, so while my ship is flying for 3 sectors, is it check the price ever x minutes on route, and if it's not acceptable price, move onto the next repeat order to buy from another area?
Great video, is there any way to have a mining ship do cargo runs from one station to another. I am thinking of having a small station in the Oort belt just with a ton of storage space and a lot of miners then have a few of the larger miners acting as a cargo hauler to a station in the Asteroid belt?
It's a bit strange. At 4:51 you say that the miner will ignore 2+3 if it is already full. But in my game the miner proceeds to those steps, but concludes that the cargo hull is full and can't do it. From what you are saying, i would expect the ship to skip 2+3 entirely since it is already full at step 1😕
Useful but what the game really needs is some sort of For/Next Structure. If Agron Warf needs 7K Hull Parts and my Freighter can provide 1K per trip I don't want to micro each trip and I don't need to set up an endless loop. We need some way of saying repeat orders X# of times.
I'm new to X4: I just tried to set up a trade chain between solar power plants in Brennan Triumph and Oort's Cloud using your guide: I set the buy price to 17 in Brennan Triumph and the sell price to 19 in Oort's Cloud. Hi There, There is one thing in the trading orders that is bad. or i dont understand. I have build an trading hub where i fly my wares into for building in the sektor. but i must have money in the hub! when i have no money, ore not enough money, my trader will drop not all of his cargo. that is littel bit frustrading. i must repead up to 10 times the order because he sells 10% of the cargo. thats a point what is confusing me. i mean its my station. i dont pay money for the wares. but i dont have enough money to give the station what they want (its round about 120mil credits and that i dont have!) is that an bug= or have i make something wrong? sorry for my english. its not very good :)
coudl you do another dedicated video on aux-ships, and missles, etc. . i know you did a longer video, but i do mean a more guidy-format like this. Auxilliaries and Missle-re-supply are topic that gets asked constantly.
Nothing. Maybe you search at the wrong spot. It's a "Default Behavior" which needs to be selected first and then you give orders which are going to be repeated
Hey there, i just got into the game last week having a blast playing it and now i have bought a total of 13 miners ship, but i want to ask is it possible to assign behaviour to a group of ships ? or multiple ships that has been selected ? that is not an attack order but for trading or mining.
does having the AI collect drops actually work? doesn't seem to work sometimes, they will collect stuff from asteroid drops and it wont appear in player inventory
It looks like the Attack Targets in Range order is broken. When enemy ships are in range, the target orders seem to blink grey and blue like they keep switching between targets. The outcome is they just sit there like a sitting duck, doing nothing.
@Captain Collins Hey captain want to ask if u make video about how do you have setuped mining for station because im experiencing that my miners only supply sillicon even if the storage on station is full but the ore storage is always low and miners doesnt want to mine anything else.
Video seems outdated. I dont have a "Buy/Sell order" on my traders. I can only "Trade with" station, but can't tell them at what price. So this is either a moded version of the game or the buy order is no longer in the game. Edit: Okey, the function is still in the game, but you have to right click the wares while the trade window is open to make the buy/sell order, right clicking the station doesn't work anymore. The repeat order on the trader seems to be working (ignoring the 2nd station where he can buy if there is no more space in the cargo and ignoring the 2nd station to sell to if there is nothing left to sell)
@@CaptainCollins Its just 1 S miner atm. I just done the first missions for that fish guy in the tank and got the station. I know its nothing efficient, just something more of a test run. I got the basic dock and 1 storage unit on the station.
The only problem for Large miners is that it does not do as the guide suggests. Its 1st goes to a location where is shoud mine, then if full it does not skip all the other locations but goes to the next one.. then the next one.. then after it visits all the mining sites it moves to sales. This is sad =(
Well ! Interesting and informative, thank you. Yet, what an over complicated, micromanaged, absurdly long winded set off instructions to go mining. Seems they want to make it as complicated as they can. And if it were not for excellent videos like this, no one will know how to figure it all out. I just set a miner to a station, and let the manager send it off to where ever ! It works. And theirs no fussing about with all those confusing orders !
This guide seems to be outdated now. The Repeat Orders function may have changed over hte last 2 years. If I give my miner Repeat Order, and then give it multiple mining orders, it will fly to that spot even if it's full, chill out for a few minutes, then go to the next mining place. The orders are not skipped if the miner is full.
You can you can right click the sector and select buy from and sell to and it will buy from stations in that sector of the good you want as well as sell to any station.
@Kato Rone that’s why I don’t do it that way I usually do station to station repeat orders . Now the selling part can be a good thing for sector though because some places are buying that good.

Wow. How did I not know about you before! Nice video. Thanks. I also wish I could speak a second language as good as you speak english!
Hi :) Start talking and don't care about how bad it is at the start :D
Awesome video, thank you.
Hi There,
There is one thing in the trading orders that is bad. or i dont understand.
I have build an trading hub where i fly my wares into for building in the sektor.
but i must have money in the hub! when i have no money, ore not enough money, my trader will drop not all of his cargo. that is littel bit frustrading. i must repead up to 10 times the order because he sells 10% of the cargo. thats a point what is confusing me. i mean its my station. i dont pay money for the wares.
but i dont have enough money to give the station what they want (its round about 120mil credits and that i dont have!)
is that an bug= or have i make something wrong?
sorry for my english. its not very good :)
Good and informative guide. Thanks sir 👌🏻
For some reason my repeat order miners will continue to fly to each mining area regardless of if its full or not. plez halp.
coudl you do another dedicated video on aux-ships, and missles, etc. . i know you did a longer video, but i do mean a more guidy-format like this.
Auxilliaries and Missle-re-supply are topic that gets asked constantly.
New guy here with a new guy question. The repeat orders command is not available to me. What needs to be done to unlock it?
Nothing. Maybe you search at the wrong spot. It's a "Default Behavior" which needs to be selected first and then you give orders which are going to be repeated
Your ship needs to have at least 1 star before that advanced menu shows up.
Hey there, i just got into the game last week having a blast playing it and now i have bought a total of 13 miners ship, but i want to ask is it possible to assign behaviour to a group of ships ? or multiple ships that has been selected ? that is not an attack order but for trading or mining.
good explanation, thx cap
Thanks for the video and info I didn't know about that thanks
does having the AI collect drops actually work? doesn't seem to work sometimes, they will collect stuff from asteroid drops and it wont appear in player inventory
@@KunjioYosai Just discovered the " Deposit inventory" and "Drop Inventory" when you right click the ship. Thx!
It looks like the Attack Targets in Range order is broken. When enemy ships are in range, the target orders seem to blink grey and blue like they keep switching between targets. The outcome is they just sit there like a sitting duck, doing nothing.
can repeat order work on mimic behavior for fleet
I found it amusing that your trader was flying a DHL tagged ship. (dhl is a shipping company here in the usa)
Thank you, sir!
omg i never thought on this. i'm tired of constantly check and realize that my miners are stuck because minimum price is under the station max price
Great video thank you!
I needed it!!!
Can you do a video on fleet management and formations?
ruclips.net/video/ZDvYg8uA0vc/видео.html
real useful info. ty
Very good guide
@Captain Collins Hey captain want to ask if u make video about how do you have setuped mining for station because im experiencing that my miners only supply sillicon even if the storage on station is full but the ore storage is always low and miners doesnt want to mine anything else.
In version 4.00 it should be way better than before. Are you on the latest version?
@@CaptainCollins yeah im on the 4.00 version
Vielen Dank!
Great video thanks
Very helpful capitan
Video seems outdated. I dont have a "Buy/Sell order" on my traders. I can only "Trade with" station, but can't tell them at what price. So this is either a moded version of the game or the buy order is no longer in the game.
Edit: Okey, the function is still in the game, but you have to right click the wares while the trade window is open to make the buy/sell order, right clicking the station doesn't work anymore. The repeat order on the trader seems to be working (ignoring the 2nd station where he can buy if there is no more space in the cargo and ignoring the 2nd station to sell to if there is nothing left to sell)
I dont even have the free mining option or anything else like that. It wont even let me redock with my station so the miner can unload its cargo.
Are you having 1) a M dock 2) the right storage 3) an enough star pilot?
@@CaptainCollins Its just 1 S miner atm. I just done the first missions for that fish guy in the tank and got the station. I know its nothing efficient, just something more of a test run. I got the basic dock and 1 storage unit on the station.
Hi Captain,
Thks a lot for this one ! I didn't already check it :)
That's a good thing adding this command reapeat order :)

Brilliant.
I agree that it is a lot but i wouldnt say complicated. Mine there, sell there, buy here, sell there, its pretty straight forward
I wish I saw this video 900 in-game hours ago.
Well, at least you found it now 🙂👍
This guide seems to be outdated now. The Repeat Orders function may have changed over hte last 2 years.
If I give my miner Repeat Order, and then give it multiple mining orders, it will fly to that spot even if it's full, chill out for a few minutes, then go to the next mining place. The orders are not skipped if the miner is full.
super helpful
You can do repeat orders sector based as well, I think it´s better
You can you can right click the sector and select buy from and sell to and it will buy from stations in that sector of the good you want as well as sell to any station.
@Kato Rone that’s why I don’t do it that way I usually do station to station repeat orders . Now the selling part can be a good thing for sector though because some places are buying that good.
@@malkano86 I use it for miners so it works great, also the each individual order can have several sectors and or stations, don't know the difference between several orders or one order with several targets

@@zoryan7055 yep you can set up an entire chain of commands with it. I quite enjoy it.
dose repeat orders work with mimic commanders orders?
Answer in here: ruclips.net/video/hhn_COZESQI/видео.html
Brilliant boy
You don't need to buy from your station there is an order to transfer wares directly
But you can't use that for "repeat orders". Or do want to ship your energy cells from mercury manually every time? ;)
@@CaptainCollins Yeah, I paused the video to look for transfer - kinda surprising it isn't there.
great explanation.
i struggle so much with this station commanders.
and i watched all your videos and read alot of tips, but they are really stupid.
repeat orders is alot of micromanagement.
but who cares, we need a station with resources. :)
Vielen Dank
nettes video bei gamestar. :)
