    Have an oral exam coming up which involves interpreting audiometric readings, your lectures are really nailing the concepts for me.

    Carhart notch not only in otosclerosis in fact can occur in other causes of CHL

    Thanks for the talk, it's great :) Actually I've got a concern to check ......
    Since the stiffness is increased in the middle ear system, more complaince will occure in low frequency. So why there's no obvious poor hearing threshold at low frequency?

    • @Raphael-hk2um
      @Raphael-hk2um 5 лет назад +1

      Actually if the stiffness is increased, it should be more compliant to higher frequencies. Think about the basilar membrane, the base end of it is stiffer and more in mass, so it resonates higher frequencies. And by saying 'poor hear threshold' I assume you mean 'lower threshold'? And that is a good question I think coz if it is stiffer then it tends to resonate higher frequencies, so the patient should have a better (or lower) threshold in high frequencies. But I do believe I've read an article saying patients with otosclerosis will actually hear better in noisy background coz other ppl tend to raise the pitch and volume when they talk, so I'm guessing it's just this audiogram.

      Also I think coz stiffness dominated frequencies are the low frequencies
