One bit of humor that I think everyone misses is the last word of this song that appears on the internet as "Amen." But I think Carll is actually sing "Aw, man!" in a churchified way so that it sounds like"amen." Another genius comic touch by Carll that is consistent with the character singing this song who really knows nothing about church and nothing about amen.
I love that it's a Jewish woman. Totally forgot about this song til a post in a FB group about a bride photoshopping Jesus holding her reminded me 🤣 Sad that was my city, it's now unrecognizable and all those places are gone

I believe Jewford was in Kinky's original band back in the day, Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys. Jewford jokes that he got his name because he's a Jew and he used to drive a Ford.
