My brother Rick and I did this trail back in October of 21. We are not bike riders, but Rick wanted to and offered to buy the bikes. Oh, yea He's 69 and I'm 66. He bought two Pedigo electric bikes. We made it a comfortable ride of ten days. Easy peasy. It is a great trail.
Awesome video. I am looking to do this trail this fall and had a question about bikes and tires. Did anyone use a road bike or were they gravel bikes? If road bikes did you go up to a 28mm tire?
Hey there! I used a road bike with 23mm tires. No flats, just checked air every morning. Even with all the gravel we rode through roughly 40+ miles of crushed limestone in and out of Akron into Cleveland.
weird question but I am getting ready to bike this Wednesday May 25th and was wondering did you have any issues with finding a bathroom/using the bathroom when needed? Thank you!
Sorry for the late reply and I hope your ride went well! We did this in during the quarantine of Covid-19. We just found gas stations along the route and/or close restaurants and shops. I would just find something on my Apple Maps relatively close and send the destination to my Wahoo bike computer. Or we would plan ahead on the routes and find stops along the way before starting the day.
On specific trails like you could see mile markers, but It was only for that trail. We used WAHOO gps units to track our rides, and had mapped each day out before hand.
Great stuff. You did hero level miles. Wow. I did not have this trail on my radar, but now I am going to do more research.
You will love this route. Its so much fun!

If y’all ever go through again stop by Mount Vernon, my pastors a huge biker!
Tough break with the cleat problems, but Cyclotherapy in Springfield was a great choice of shops to help you out!
We had so much fun getting to meet the people there! Totally happy we had a reason to divert off trail!
Can’t wait to do the OTET! Your trip looked fantastic. Y’all pulled some crazy mileage each day! 🙌🚲
It is a phenomenal trip for sure! So many scenic moments! Mileage was definitely a beast haha

Doing this this summer! Were there any mile markers along the trail?

Where did you stay in Newport? Did they have long term parking there or did you have someone drop you off?
The hotel let us park our car there until we got back!
