These daily videos should be more classified as instructional MTG videos instead of just draft videos. The way LSV talks through and explains all of his choices is extremely educational.
The way Luis takes extra care to pronounce 4Beine incorrectly in the intro ❤ I love this amount of sass.
Edit: Ok, looks like it for once was not sass, haha. It's pronounced "fear by-nuh".
Hahahahaha
Damn some of those alternate art cards (The One Ring, Palantir) look awful. I mean I'd love to have that art as a poster on my wall.. but on a card? Nah.
“Counterspell, memory lapse and solitude.. oof” truer words have never been spoken.
like 6 hours ago I was watching an older video of vintage cube where in the beginning of the video LSV also mentioned the guy being in the same high school as him. And I thought I was having an aneurysm or something because I thought I was watching the same video again. And somehow only an hour had passed.
42:09 that’s a funny play since if they cast necromancy off spell queller the creature dies on the next end step since it was cast at instant speed
4beine: Fear - Buy - Nugh
That's quite accurate 😮
Where does the "fear" come from?
At 41:09 that's such an oof moment for his opponent. "Oh yeah, I've got a removal spell for you 7/7 beater. I just don't care"
I love watching those little engines like Skullclamp, Iconoclast, Sensei's Top come together.
LSV opening power? I don’t believe it, packs are rigged.
Not that it made any difference but at 42:36 there was no need to memory lapse the necromancy during your opponent's end step. Necromancy sacrifices itself at the beginning of the cleanup step if cast at non-sorcery speed, so the Griselbrand would have immediately gone away. If Necromancy sacrificed itself at the beginning of the end step like a normal card it would be different, but that's Necromancy for you - absolutely absurd templating.
Still, that's a really funny interaction between Kiki-jiki, spell queller, and necromancy that I've never seen before.
I don't know why but the art on that one ring triggers me. It feels like an affront to magic.
That's because it is an affront to Magic! 😆 I genuinely think those versions of The One Ring and Palantir should be banned.
That was a pity, I would have loved to see round 3 too 😂 but great draft and deck 🎉
Thanks for uploading an hour early!
59:52 Small edge, but there's a precise ordering for using Parallax Wave to play around Cryptic Command. Exiling his Endurance, holding priority, and exiling your Spell Queller is the only way to guarantee that Spell Queller can't be permanently exiled without having the same happen to Endurance.
Mostly just found it interesting, because it's the only time I've ever seen holding be useful as a means of preventing counterplay.
I was thinking the young pyromancer with skullclamp and third path? Kitesail is nice though
he always underestimates young peezy
Young P doesn't trigger off top, parallax, fable, or clamp, though
Hearing you mention Bishop O' Dowd is crazy because i had to go there a few times for basketball tournaments
1:08:54 "What the Hell is that?" Pretty much sums up my thoughts on almost all of the terrible art from Secret Lairs.
Wondering why you didn't let channel resolve and then just using lapse on whatever they tried to cast off it?
Letting Channel resolve is kind of a disaster if they have an Emrakul or something.
@@sjake8308with both memory lapse and reprieve in hand, it feels like you have most channel targets covered
I had the same thought, even emrakul isn’t that bad cause you can just reprieve it and they just paid 15 life and 2 cards for a time walk with nothing in play.
The most counterspell deck that ever counterspelled lol
"fear buy-nay" works, but the "ay" is rather shorter like in Nevinyrral's Disk or Nevada :)
Hey Luis i just came up with the idea to do a teamdraft but you are allowed to communicate with you teammates during the draft dont know what will happens but i think it could be a interesting experiment
It’s called Rochester Draft
As a Nordic i have to change my schedule now to watch LSV, because of daylight time savings. But i don't mind.
They should be back at the normal time shortly
@@LSVargasVery nice !
The 4 is pronounced like fear
Bei = buy
ne = ne(ver), so it's pronounced like the ne part of the word never
4beine = fear buy ne
But honestly, don't worry about it too much, everyone struggles pronouncing words and names in different languages
Someone really hard moved into white p2. Samwise didn't wheel (pity about the strip mine value) but top did
Imagine having a PT win with a second t8 and not even being the best mtg player at your high school
Rough
In game 2 against 4beine, I don't believe you needed to memory lapse necromancy when they cast it due to your copied Spell Queller dying. Necromancy would lose substance and fall off at end of cleanup step and there was nothing in graveyards that would temporarily help.
Very crazy to me we're not taking Othari in this long drawn out game. @59:35
Hey LSV I was wondering if you stream or have ever considered streaming?
He used to. Not since he started uploading to RUclips
It is better when he doesn’t stream. Some idiot rando in chat who doesn’t read what the cards do sidetracks LSV away from playing the game. It starts to tilt and then the quality of the stream goes down.
I had no idea LSV was from California. I’m a big dialect nerd, so I would’ve assumed like Indiana or something, lol.
Question re match 1, game 2: When you copied Spellqueller to counter Necromancy and it got recast at the end of turn when the Spellqueller copy got exiled, couldn't you just have let it resolve? Necromancy could not have been cast at sorcery speed then, meaning the creature reanimated with it would go away in the clean up step, right?
Love the deck! But one question, why pick Kitesail over Young Pyromancer? Wouldn't the redundancy with Third Path Iconoclast be better?
No room and pyromancer is considerably worse, only triggering on instant and sorceries as opposed to “non-creatures”. Cards like senseis top, cryptic coat, which are both repeatable too only work with third path. Also fable, parallax wave, talisman, etc.
Have you gone up on Elspeth? I feel like you used to hate that card and I’m frankly surprised that she made it into the cube
I misheard "the one Reprieve" as "The One Reprieve" like it was The One Ring and I jumped
cant believe you didnt take the free pyromancer
It boggles my mind when you don’t include hullbreacher in the main. Especially when there are so many people that think it’s the strongest non power card in the cube.
First game was frustrating to watch.
LSv, I've always wondered why you upkeep ancestral?
T1 upkeep ancestral is a common play pattern when you have ancestral in your opening hand on the play because:
1. You're casting it while your opponent has no mana, making force of will the only counter they can have (or if you're on the draw, OP still has just 1 mana which limits still his options to spell pierce, daze, mana tithe, etc.)
2. casting it in upkeep instead of draw step to reduces the chance that opponent draws FoW/ blue card to pitch to FoW
3. Casting recall on your T1 will likely mean you discard cards to handsize (also plays into force of negation) unless you have a bunch of moxen or other 0s in your deck
All this plus it plays around force of negation
That was my assumption. Thank you!@@LSVargas
What happened at 53:46 where he played flooded strand but then didn’t crack it, yet it still tapped for mana?
Opponent has a Yavimaya in play (their leftmost land), making every land a forest that can tap for green.
So when you discord and get into these cube drafts how do you get the cards? Do you need to have mana traders or own the cards?
A lot of them own the cards, in previous videos lsv mentions how he loans out cards also.
@@Snarkeroidyeah it would cost me like 3000 bucks lol
In the discord LSV shared here recently, we mostly all use a rental service for about $5 a week that covers renting out each deck you draft. LSV and crew mostly just own the cubes for convenience sake
@@Ohhesreallykindoflikethat hell yeah I gotta get in on this
Can someone tell me why Dreadhorde Arcanist is not in the cube? Seems powerful enough to me.
It is!
@@LSVargasreally? I watch daily and never saw it being opened? New addition?
Wait... Game 1, can't you let the channel resolve and memory lapse whatever comes out of it???
He could, but it'd be kind of bad if they Channeled out an Emrakul.
@@sjake8308 I was about to comment that as well but then I realized he had reprieve as well which is the one card that actually can deal with emrakul
@@PPolycephalum Precisely! Seems like with Lapse and Reprieve up you just.. Let them pay the life.......?
Hide in Plain Sight is in the cube, why not Collected Company? Always felt like it’d slot into some decks, especially Lurrus decks so nicely
I agree, some support for green/whitee beats could be cool
Are there any good green creatures with mana value 3 or less besides Hexdrinker and Sentinel?
@@Anusien For cards in the cube right now, tireless tracker and ramunap. This can also get any 2 or one mana creatures. As I said, green/white aggro decks would love this sort of effect
CoCo is one of my favorite cards, and I tried it in my cube, and no one ever really played it.
It was usually too hard to draft a deck that had fourteen good 1-3-drops without having to make some really strange draft choices. Most of the time, it seemed to play like a card that gave you a companion-like deck-building restriction without a good enough payoff to warrant it.
WOTC has printed a lot of broken 2 and 3 drops since I last played it, so maybe it’s time for another try, but I’m still skeptical. I’ve seen a lot more CoCo whiffs than good CoCos in cube:P I’m always open to ideas though. Like I said, I love the card!
TL;DR: I want it to be good enough, don’t think it is, and will probably try to make it work again anyways.😂
CoCo is like paradoxical outcome, too hard to get it working in cube. In theory you could get there but even then casting a CoCo and hitting two good creatures isn’t really that powerful given the deck building constraints needed for CoCo and the fact that your opponent could just be doing unfair stuff.
What do you have to have to make you excited about ephemerate? I feel like we never get to watch it do the thing
Yea! Take that for playing the ugliest Palantir and One Ring arts! 🤦
Would you ever try a Time Paddle draft?
Where after the draft everyone adds 1 time walk to their deck.
everyone takes blue so they can splash Walk and regrowth effects are premium cards
beine = by-nuh
