My feeling is that they may have the $10K, but after seeing the dresses in that range, they figured those dresses were not worth the price. I think if the store showed them something the bride really liked and really rocked, they would have said yes to that dress. Or, maybe the reality of spending that much for a 2-4 hour dress which will never be worn again hit them and maybe they figured the money was better spent elsewhere.

(They do have wedding dress shops there too!)
I think they were probably shocked to hit upon such a perfect dress so early on in their search. Sad they couldn't buy it because it was extraordinarily unique and special on her, and they would have got it at a great discount.

Pnina has many dresses that are very different in style compared to what we usually see on the show. She knows how to make a dress to fit well. She expected the normal process, which is to put a down payment on the day you choose the dress, and pay for the rest after it’s made, 6+ months later. Because this was one of a kind she needed the 7k right that moment, which didn’t fit their budget. That’s quite reasonable honestly, it’s a big change to come in expecting to put down ~2k and needing ~7k instead. It’s plausible they were saving a couple thousand a month towards the wedding, needing to reserve the venue and order the dress before anything else because of timing, and spending an extra 5k on the dress would cut into the budget for the venue deposit or something, losing them the reservation.

I agree with everything you've said. That dress was very unique and would suit very specific person, both body and personality wise. It's dramatic and couture like. It takes diva chic attitude to pull it off without being overpowered by it, together with statuesque body - tall, slim with just bust size and great posture. The bride had the right personality for it, but her figure was too delicate for it. The dress was wearing her ultimately. I can see why it couldn't sell, being 12K originally, white chocolate color and with mohair lace. Debbie was right - very few brides would vibe with that dress, or they do, something else would be an issue - color, price tag, the fact that it didn't fit.

why does no one in the comments understand that many cultures do not think its appropriate for a bride to wear a 'sample'? they have to wear something brand new that has not been on any one else's body. the part where the consultants and randy kept repeating 'I haven't seen it look that good on anyone else that's tried it on' was so cringe. imagine marrying your man, having your dream wedding and having to wear something that dozens of women have tried on? its gross. the dress is spiritually contaminated by other peoples energy. so its sacrilegious.
If the designer was still making that dress and she could order it brand new, shipped to her in London it would have been a different equation and a different conversation.
Please expand your minds and stop belittling the woman and her fiancé for taking a decision of their choice rather than being pressured into paying for a sample. Never let your wedding dress be the result of FOMO.

No. Paying attention to the video is fundamental.
The designer stopped designing. That means his (or her) dress patterns were not available anymore to make a new dress.
That also means that she would have to buy the sample, not just place a down payment for a new dress.
That then means that she wouid have to come up with the entire $9,000 plus tax that very day. They may have had a few thousand, but not the entire amount to take the dress home.
And since Kleinfeld could not guarantee that the sample would be there the next time she came in - from the UK - she decided against it. It would be easier to settle on a different dress that was new (not just a used sample gown) from the UK instead of the hassle of flying the dress home with them.
It makes a whole lot more sense when one listens to the details of what happened.

I think the first bride came to look if she found one she probably thought she was going to get one off the showroom floor and usually it takes a couple months to get your dress so you can come and get measured and then they order you your dress, but you still have to put a deposit on that she liked so they can order it in the size that you are, which would’ve at least taken a good six months and that way she could’ve just put the deposit down and then came and back and pay for the rest of the dress when she came back for a fitting or to pick it up so she can take it home with her and get it altered in her country because I say six out of 10 are not really prepare to actually pay anything over five grand in one go so more than likely she probably took note of the designer, and since it was pretty much public knowledge on the television on which dress she’d like to seam or something similar and either got it made from a seamstress or actually purchased something similarshe has them took quite a few pictures

They never had the money to begin with. They wasted the staffs time. An ultimate 40%+ discount is fabulous for such a one of a kind avant garde Baroque gown. She knew what she wanted, the gown was in her budget but she was playing dress up and wasting the staffs time. If the gown was way under her budget then why didn’t she take it. She was playing bride.

Nope. She was not intending to buy a sample gown (with the entire amount of the cost). She thought she could order a gown and put down a deposit. But since the designer wasn't in business anymore, there could be no more orders and Kleinfeld had to sell all his dresses as samples.

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 Месяц назад +1

They most certainly did. And each time someone's gushing over how sweet they are, perhaps a reminder that they are in sales on commission type of business might be in order. We can't take against them, it's their job to do everything to sell, especially pieces that proved to be difficult to sell for whatever reason. Speaking of which, I wouldn't say the dress was a monstrosity. It was fantastic dress for the right person. It's a dramatic dress with couture vibe, that takes certain figure - tall, slender with bust, but not overly delicate - plus the right personality. Otherwise the dress would be wearing the bride, not the other way around. On top of this, the dress was originally priced over $12K, has mohair lace and is white chocolate color. No wonder they couldn't sell it. It takes lots of luck to find the bride with that kind of budget, personality, figure and taste which will look good in it. This bride did look good in that dress because she has the right personality for it and can pull it off. However, the dress was visually overpowering her - she needed to be slightly taller and with ever so slightly less delicate frame in order to suite that dress perfectly.

The consultants needed to get rid of the elephant dress gone and they cut the price way down. That says something is wrong and I am glad she did not buy it.
