I had two of these feeders and your description is EXACTLY what happened. Hey would jump on, hold on as long as they could, then IMMEDIATELY start eating the seed that flew out when they hit the ground. Very intelligent and able to learn… learn how to piss me off🤣🤣🤣
The longer the squirrel hangs on, The more seed flies out onto the ground, he gets a thrill in the ride, then he goes to enjoy what fell on the ground, smart critter.
The bad thing is that this feeder will FLING a lot of birdseed on the ground! The PERCH needs to ALSO be WEIGHT activated so that the "feeder holes" CLOSE so that no bird seed can flung to the ground.
I have no idea why people who loves to feed birds so much, cannot stand a squirrel. Is it the cost of seed? I lnow it's pricey..but everybody eats...If you can't afford it...well don't take out on a squirrel. I feed everything. Birds, squirrels, ducks raccoons...whatever, if they show up in my yard, they eat. I think ya all just have a mean streak. If the squirrels knock down the seed..birds still find it. Vice versa. The wack jobs neighbors by me, killed some birds, that they loved so much. Some were badly injured. Stupid.

They can still empty the feeder all over the ground and the batteries wear out. Must have to change and fill everyday.
