- At Last, a 'running' video for Deresley with both passenger and goods services. Great care has been taken to make this video as visually and audibly interesting as possible - hope you all like it
What a fantastic railway, the models are all superb & the weathering is top notch,a very inspiring layout,as for the 5 clampetts that hit the dislike button,I can only summise that they mustn't have much going on on their planet,David you have a wonderful layout 👍
Many thanks Steven. Appreciate your very kind comments. There will always be clampetts - can't please everyone. Happy New Year ... David
Very very good modeling and realistic running , a PLEASURE TO DREAM, BACK TO THOSE DAYS, AND YES I MANAGED TO ADD THE DIFFERENT SMELLS IN FOR MYSELF ! Thanks again
Thanks Mike, lovely comment - so glad its bought back the memories (and smells) 😊😊 ... David
Very enjoyable to watch & to relax to ,well done plus excellent modelling .Look forward to more .
Many thanks Steven
G'day from Australia...Generally I'm not a huge older era fan but this layout and operation is an absolute joy and privilege to behold ..Thank you for sharing it with us...
Many thanks Rodney, hope you and yours are staying safe down there - the UK is with you all.. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
@@davidhyde4329 Thanks David ...I'm in the island state of Tasmania and although we're about 300 km south of the mainland States we have about a dozen pretty bad fires burning and a nearby town is under threat as we speak..The whole valley is shrouded in thick smoke...It's apocalyptic in Victoria and NSW...Still loving you beautiful work and inspires me to get back to mine..
Thanks again ...
Here in the UK (and around the world I guess) we are watching the terrible fires you are having - unbelievable times, it does look apocalyptic from all that we see on the TV .
Take care Rodney, thanks for making the time to reply ... David
Each of the many times I've watched this video, I've enjoyed it more, noticing new nuances that enhance the pleasure. The masks are absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for your work and for sharing it.
Thank you David. Your excellent model making is now coupled with a remarkable standard of video production. I was surprised that so much activity would have taken place on a Sunday morning in the '60s.
Hi, many thanks for your kind comments - much appreciated. Yes I probably made it look too exciting 😁😁 - Sundays were my least favourite days in the 1950's & 60's. I have a timetable for Huntingdon from the 1950s and a few trains did run on Sundays (in my defense!) ... David
@@davidhyde4329 Hi David. My main railway-related memory of Sundays in the 60's is each week, after church, going to the main station in Nairobi. There was little traffic at that time of day but there was often a Beyer Garratt 4-8-4+4-8-4 waiting for its next duty, plus the actual carriage from which the Man-eater of Tsavo snatched its most famous victim. Highlight of the visits was lunch at the station restaurant - a seven-course silver service menu costing 10 shillings. I can still recall some of those flavours!
A really nice layout and the scenery is amazing and very well run. But the thing that lets it down in my opinion is the HOOK, BARS for Couplings on the Locomotives and running stock. Sorry my friend hope you don’t mind my comments. Regards from Ron. 👍😃
Wonderful. Totallly immersed in the world of Deresley! Your efforts are very much appreciated.
Hi Nigel. many thanks, your comments are also very much appreciated ... David
Wow. Fantastic modelling and camera work. Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks David, really appreciate your comment - glad you liked it ... David
My last train set was in 1959 but I wish this was in my back room now . Wonderful hobby during lockdown. This layout and the camera work is the best I have seen, well done.
Glad you enjoyed it, really appreciated ... David
I just wanted to be there, brilliant, all the time and effort paid off, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Thanks David I am pleased it captured some of the atmosphere of the period. So glad you liked it 👍👍👍
Outstanding work! 13 minutes in and it keeps getting better! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
An unexpected pleasure. Thank you.
Very kind of you to say Chas - thanks ... David
Very good. Well done. Enjoyed all the sights and sounds without getting any coal dust.
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comment. Happy New Year ... David
This is one super realistic railway , being a lad from Bristol , born in 63, this brings back fond memories , we had a railway track from Bristol to Bath run past our housing estate , though it was decomissioned in the late sixties early seventies. They have kept a part of the Bitton to Bath section running though. And used to run a steam train on there , l think they still do . Fascinating stuff David 👍
Thanks again Jerry, so pleased it brings back real railway memories. Interesting story, love little branch lines. Appreciate the comment ... David
Absolutely superb. Attention to detail on the layout is second to none. Outstanding.
Just superb all round. Thank you.
Thanks Peter, much appreciated ... David
Absolutely first rate! I particularly liked the signaller's view from the box.
Many thanks. Proved a popular shot, appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
How nice to see your work again, David.
Deresley is looking splendid now and I thoroughly enjoyed this short glimpse into the working day. Superlative work!
Kind regards - Ross.
Many thanks Ross. Appreciate your patience and your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
I have only just viewed this, absolutely superb, outstanding, the finest representation of a rake of mineral wagons I've seen, your attention to detail is astonishing, thank you.
Wow, thanks so much. Very kind comments - truly appreciated ❤👍👍👍
That's pretty good stuff. Kinda brought back my childhood. Thank you
Many thanks Edward - very nice comment 👍👍
A brilliant video and one I very much enjoyed watching. What an excellent talent you have.
Thank you so much Nicholas - very glad you liked it ... David
Awesome enjoyed every minute , so realistic , looking forward to the next one, cheers Richard
Hi Richard, many thanks, glad you enjoyed it ... David
Absolutely fantastic David it's great to see a layout working to a timetable. May I congratulate you on a fantastic upload of deresley Sunday working, so realistic.
Many thanks for your wonderful comment. Very much appreciated - so pleased you liked it ... David
Excellent David. So nice to see Deresley again.
Many thanks again Philip, glad you have not got fed up waiting😊😊. Appreciate your very kind comment. Happy New Year ... David
What an amazing layout and a brilliant video. Time-consuming yes but the result is out of this world for scenic beauty and interest. I loved it. The scenic masks are perfect. The layout seems very large with all the detail that is packed in.
All smoke and mirrors Rob😁👍. I am pleased with the result, some fabulous comments received - thanks for yours ... David
I was born in the mid 50s, and I am no train nut, but do like them and remember them well. The sheer hard work put into the imagitive and nostalgic themes in this video are to put it mildly superlative. You are obviously one very talented, and gifted individual who leaves little to the imagination. Thank you very much for sharing your video Sir 👍 Tam.
Hi Tam I was born a little earlier than you in the late 40s, I enjoyed train spotting with my friends but I too was no train nut. I tried to get that remembered feeling of peaceful, bird-sound countryside that flooded in once the noises of the trains had passed. We obviously remember those times fondly in the same way. So glad you liked it.❤❤❤ ... David
Very nicely done. Thanks for presenting.
Thank you too! lovely comment 👍👍
The video was great .Enjoyed it very much .Hope to see more .Take care.
Superb craftsmanship both in modelling and video production.
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Wonderful ... great use if reverb for the announcements and the whistle was dry... brilliant!
Thanks Ian, much appreciated 👍👍👍
Incredible. So authentic. Thanks.
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Absolutely superb! Very well done indeed.
Many thanks, Much appreciated ... David
I am very impressed by your layout and operations. But a huge bravo for the sound effects of birds singing, dog barking and the gulls - they were awesome. However, what me made me take my breath away was some of your camera angles, particularly the one from the signal box, train cab and the shots from the bridge. Very well done, sir.
Thanks again Phil, so pleased you liked that way I put this video together. I tried all the tricks I know in this video!! Thanks for the comment 👍👍👍
Thank you that was very enjoyable to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it Ian. Really appreciate your comment 👍👍
fabulous video and the view through the tunnel is even better than anticipated. Frank
Thanks Frank, lovely comment, much appreciated 👍👍👍
As a videographer/ editor myself, I really appreciated the work done in post production. I raise my hat to you, Sir.
Many thanks Richard. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Great layout. So real. Great track work, everything.
Thanks William, much appreciated ... David
That was a real treat to watch. You've obviously put a lot of hard work and skill into that model railway and it"s really paid off. It was a good idea to edit out the non-railway aspects of the video which aided the "suspension of disbelief" allowing the viewer to become immersed, and made the whole thing very enjoyable. Thanks!
Thank you very much! - a lot of hard work - worth it though.
Lovely stuff David. The effort you’ve gone to to eliminate any signs of your railway room has paid off, very realistic indeed.
Thanks for the comment. Exactly what I was hoping for. I was half expecting folk would accuse me of 'cheating' with my virtual scenery - so pleased this is not the case ... David
In the words of Monty P “it’s only a model! “ I love the shot from the switching tower with the truck in the background crossing the bridge as the train approaches. Great work great fun.
Many thanks Len. I enjoy doing these shots and I have more planned for 2020. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Fantastic! Makes me jealous but also eager to build my small lay-out at same standard. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks David, very much appreciated 👍👍 ... David
Very good , thanks for all your effort
Your updates David are such an inspiration to all us modellers. Delightful. Thank you. Keep them coming.
Many thanks Martyn, much appreciated 👍👍👍
I haven’t been in the habit of commenting on the many videos I have been watching for inspiration now I have got my layout up and running again after 20+years, but I saw this Christmas morning and delayed the start of the day somewhat because of it.This is a brilliant piece of work and I loved every second of it. Congratulations.
Hi Roy, many thanks, I am so pleased to receive your kind comments. Very, glad you liked it. Nice to hear you are running your railway again, I wish you much happiness with it. Thanks again ... David
Shout out from across the pond. Very impressive David!
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
This video is absolutely terrific. Doesn’t matter how long they take to make when the results are this good. Well done on a lovely layout.
Many thanks, much appreciated 👍👍👍
Very well done, I like the shot out the signal box window it really looks real.
Well done,
Martin
Many thanks Martin, Much appreciated ... David
I was thinking on what you said in the introduction, about not having a loop. That is something adding to the realism of your layout. Now, I imagine if one wishes to sit back and watch the trains go round and round to relax, that's not going to happen. But, if one enjoys being an operator, your setup is great!
Hi usframe many thanks for your comments. Thanks, that's the way I see it too. Nice thing about the look though when people visit is that you can have trains running continuously. With my layout there can only be a limited amount of movement for visitors to see. Whereas online, the problem goes away ... David
Well worth the wait what a great and inspiring video love all the work you have done great weathering on wagons and all the little details that you have put into your layout.
Many thanks Giles, and thanks for your patience. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Simply the best video of a model railway I have ever seen.
Many thanks. Simply could not ask for a better comment. ❤❤❤ Happy New Year ... David
I don't own a model railway layout but I love watching videos like this. It's great how you have 'weathered' the rolling stock and even the trackside vehicles as nothing looks more unnatural than shiny pristine models. Well done!
Many thanks. I have grown to like the weathering look. The Baby Deltic is still to do, as you may have noticed, and the coaches also. Never enough time!! Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
I look forward to your videos , to build a railway on a small platform is awesome , and reminds me why I like watching your videos. KEEP DERESLEY ALIVE AND GOING PLEASE
What a splendid layout and beautifully shot video. I particularly enjoyed the shot through the signal box window; incredibly realistic. I also loved the (I presume) DCC sound and station announcements. I never saw a Baby Deltic, but if that's what they sounded like, I missed a treat! Now I've found your channel I'll be looking out for more videos.
Many thanks Jonathan, many have liked the signal box shot - fun to do. No, I did not use DCC for any of the sound in this video. I made a completely separate sound track using actual recordings of preserved locomotives. The Baby De tic was difficult as none are in preservation. However I did find a similar loco restoration that was fitted with a Baby Deltic engine. I have been informed by those who remember them, that this distinctive sound is accurate. The station announcement were read by my granddaughter. I recorded her voice and added some echo etc. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Brilliant! The ingenuity on so many levels; the videography/photoshop-ery, the timetabling & logistical planning and the sheer modelling ingenuity are to be applauded. I really enjoy and appreciate your videos and thank you for the obvious time that you’ve taken with all of them, it clearly shows and I’m sure I speak for many when I say, well done! 👌🏻👍🏻
Many, many thanks, Its nice to have my video appreciated on so many levels. It's what I was aiming for, so thanks again for the comments ... David
Excellent little video. Well done.
I do like the weathering on those coal wagons, a lot of time and effort must have gone into the production of this short video well appreciated thank you.
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Outstanding work David, loved it ,had plenty of time to look around at all your lovely details.
Respect.
Thanks Martin, very much appreciated ... David
This is without question the finest model railroad video I’ve ever seen. I feel like I’m standing trackside when I’m watching it. The sound effects are perfect, and make the scenes come alive ! Pure Genius
Wow, thanks James. Really appreciate your wonderful comment. Glad you enjoyed it 👍👍👍❤ ... David
Wonderful a joy to watch, very inspirational, I love the view from inside the signal box especially.
Thanks Grahame - appreciate the comment ... David
Me too. It was very clever.
Hello David. To be honest, I usually skip through most contributors running sessions. But yours are different; the attention to detail and creating imaginative camera locations. The scenic mats and story line are perfect. I don't think I have watched an average video from you yet. Well done and keep on producing excellent videos. Best regards, John Witchard.
Hello John. truly wonderful comments - so pleased you enjoyed watching. Much appreciated ... David
David, this is the first video of yours I have seen - and what an UTTER JOY! The layout, the filming, everything... just beautiful. It's made my Christmas now that I have found your channel and can go back and gorge on all the past content. Many thanks.

Great work David , such talent and patience . Wales UK.
Many thanks. Much appreciated.
You are an expert on the weathering .
Thanks Colin. I like weathering effects. A bit daunted when I first started because a brand new loco out of the box looks so beautiful ... David
Superbly detailed and videoed
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Hello David, I enjoy watching your work on Deresley, the running videos and your dinky car renovations. I would love to see how you run your fiddle yard and where it fits in within your layout. I'm looking to build a layout, but like you, I can't have a circuit layout.
Looking forward to watch future films. Kind regards, Mookie.
Many thanks, glad you like Deresley and the Dinky toys. Good luck with your layout
Very cleverly done . Very impressive
Many thanks Keith, Much appreciated ... David
What a brilliant atmospheric layout. Well done.

Outstanding!
What an amazing piece of art! Keep up the good work. Your videos are quite enjoyable to watch and act as a great inspiration.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. Glad you find my videos enjoyable - much appreciated ... David
Dear David although you don't have a roundy roundy railway your video was very entertaining. I have loved your work ever since you did the weathering of the N2 locomotive. Thanks.
Many thanks Andrew. Appreciate your very kind comments. Thanks for staying 'loyal' - Happy New Year ... David
Spectacular work David - a real treat to watch. I've watched content from much larger and more complex layouts than yours - and yet the exceptional quality of your modelling and your video production means that your little film is probably the most beautiful I've seen yet. The detail and weathering right across your layout is 'Gold standard'. Lovely work - thanks for sharing your video.
Many thanks for your very kind comments, truly appreciated. This took a great deal of time to create. Your comments make it worth every moment👍👍👍 - thanks again ... David
Thank you David ,that was very enjoyable to watch .It just proves you don’t need hundreds of yds of track to make it enjoyable ,it really is the attention to detail that makes it believable
A very enjoyable 23 minutes. Came here via a link on RMWeb. I like sitting back with a cuppa watching operation videos, I'll save this page and watch your others later. Thank you.
Many thanks, glad you liked it. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Love the camera view from the signal box at 7.00
Many thanks. Its proved a popular shot. Appreciate your very kind comment. Happy New Year ... David
@@davidhyde4329 your work is super. I have watched this right through. Your sound and camera work are a credit to you. I presume the distant shots are photoshopped but they look so realistic. A real pleasure to view - thank you.
Brilliant modelling and video, love the look of the mineral wagons!
Many thanks. Lovely comment, glad you like the weathering - always fun to do 😊👍👍
Hi David a wonderful video to watch several times so much detail and atmosphere. Congratulations on the best video I have ever seen. You must have spent dozens of hours. Thank you so much... Best Wishes Charles Richard Crompton. Canterbury Kent England
Glad you enjoyed it Charles. Wonderful comments - makes it all worth while. Indeed it did take many enjoyable hours of filming and editing. 👍👍
Excellent presentation and good work on the railway. Look forward to seeing more of your calibre work. Thanks.
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Absolute bliss.
A particularly well constructed and polished piece of model engineering. Extremely delightful for an aged soul who recalls such sights and sounds.
A lushly crafted and varied time line, expertly delivered.
Your videography is exceptional. What more can one say...simple picture perfect...sound sensational. ..excellent.
A delight on so so many levels.
A gold star piece of work.
Thank you for sharing what is clearly your great passion.
Many thanks for your kind comments. I was trying to add atmosphere, visual and audible to create another layer of 'realism' to my railway. So many of you have picked up on this and it has made all the effort worthwhile. Thanks for taking the time to comment ... David
Extremely well done, a pleasure to watch
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comment. Happy New Year ... David
Fantastic video David....worth waiting for.
Thanks Derrick, and thanks for waiting ... David
Very nicely done!
Well, I´m practically speechless with admiration, both for the wealth of detail in the models and for this particular video.
In making RC car videos I´ve dabbled in scale backgrounds and audiosync, and I must say that your utterly uncompromising attitude towards scale realism has elevated this video to an exalted status, especially when combined with the superb soundtrack.
My hat goes off to you, sir!
Many thanks Del, really appreciate your comments. So pleased you enjoyed it 👍👍👍👍 ... David
Absolutely loved it. So well done. And I recognised the inside of blue anchor sihnalbox (GWR) masquerading as Deresley! Brilliantly done.
Many thanks Ian, much appreciated ... David
Probably the most realistic model railway running session on RUclips. First class David.
That's very kind of you to say. Very much appreciated ... David👍👍👍
A lot of hard work has obviously gone into this video, and I know it’s not an easy thing to do so top marks. very nice video and of course a very nice layout. 👍🖖
Many thanks, it was a lot of work but comments like yours make the effort worth while - much appreciated 👍👍👍
Have just come across your site and subscribed, now catching up on your videos. I have to say I am amazed at you scratch building and this video just blows me away, the best I have ever seen. Keep them coming.
Regards Chris
Many thanks Chris, glad you have found my channel and were good enough to subscribe. Glad you liked the running video - very time consuming but I will be doing some more ... Regards David
Absolutely brilliant David! Thank you for sharing your talents. I also now understand a lot more about a small working station
Hi Michael, very kind of you to say so, glad you liked it ... David
That was so good I'm going to watch it again. Beautifully relaxing!
A delightful railway & video. Thank you.
My railway is an end to end with junction system, so I especially appreciated your realtime working. Mine, originally design for three man operation, but since my grandchildren are now adult & working, I am able to operate three separate areas, in isolation, which saves me from walking a marathon around the railway room.
Again, thank you so much. We are watching yours on our tele.
Many thanks. Your layout sounds interesting, with three operating areas. Appreciate your very kind comments ... David
Thank you for taking the time to make this wonderful video. It admirably demonstrates the pleasure that can be had from operating a shelf layout depicting a rural/small town terminus.
Hi Frank, quite agree and thanks for your very kind comments ... David
Brilliant absolutely brilliant. Loved watching it, please do some more.
Many thanks. There will be more but they take a time to produce and edit. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David

As a rider to my last comment, your coupling/uncoupling system is working great.
Thanks again - yes it does work well (most of the time) 🤞🤞 ... David
A truly splendid video with remarkable use of scenery, operations and realism. Fantastic!
Thanks John, glad you enjoyed it - appreciate the comment ... David
A lovely depiction of a branch line terminus of those days, except for the hours of nothing happening at all, which I remember from my childhood!
Well done, most enjoyable.
