I fell in love with the Darjeeling layout at the 009 show at Statfold. the owner and I were more than strongly suggesting that Bachmann should make a B class sooner rather than later. All good to see Lawrie looking less tired!
Looked like an excellent exhibition. I quite like visiting some of these smaller exhibitions over the larger ones as you get to see most of these layouts without overcrowding. Also that owl is thinking oh no am I safe with this person, I heard he is cursed.
What a great show, Lawrie. The layouts were all of such great quality. But my favourite was the 7ft gauge one at the beginning. I'm an Australian member of the Broad Gauge Society, being a great admirer of Brunel and what might have been, but I've never seen a Broad Gauge layout in action. Or for that matter, a real Broad Gauge railway!
I'm gutted to have missed Ousewell, I have a feeling I'd have spent a LOT of time at that one, alas it was simply too far for me to travel with lil in tow.
As someone who drives N scale, Shunting has always been the pitfall of the scale. Mainly because of the "rapido" couplers that require too much force to lock compared to the rather light weight of the train cars causing everything to be pushed around during shunting operation. One of the great things about N scale is that everyone agreed on a standard coupling mechanism, only sadly they picked one of the worst coupling mechanisms imaginable. I have considered replacing the coupling mechanisms with the after market alternative but i am skeptic of that due to the amount of different brands that don't use NEM sockets.
Most will be advertised online, and those that are in the know are included in a list on The UK Model Shop Directory website. In October, there are loads every weekend, and I can particularly recommend the Slough MRX at the end of the month! (Lawrie was at our exhibition last year.)
Some superb layouts there. And the quote of the whole thing - "That's the most dismissive look I've ever had from an owl"
That implies he gets dismissive looks from owls on the regular
@@Taggart00 Well, I'm not surprised. Owls don't like anything smaller than gauge 1.
I'm staggered by the immense detail in the models, what a real labour of love.
Laurie if you've not been yet, I wholeheartedly recommend going to the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg if you like European style railways.

Seems like a nice exhibition! The Darjeeling layout is outstanding!
You certainly have to admire scratch built layout outs and rolling stock, very skilled people.
That owl's look as if to say...
"Why am I here? Who is this man?" 😂
Great video, Lawrie 👍
what a neat little show, love the variety of gauges on display too!
Some amazing layouts on display there! Have to say my favourite is the forest one, I genuinely believed one of the shots was real!
I also found this show really worth coming to. Caroline
The broad gauge was so fascinating and complex to look at. The sleepers seemed to act as spacers between each road further complicating the scene.

Darjeeling is gorgeous and quit exotic.
FYI Lawrie, there is currently a broadgauge locomotive in the museum at the south devon railway.
Looks super FUN!👍👍👍😁
I love it! :D well done
On the topic of broad gauge, there are actually 3 0-4-0s that got sent over to the Azores that are stored in a shed at Port Delaganda.
