    This was it. Just replaced my water pump. Still leaking. The heater hose was leaking out the gasket.
    Autozone had the complete assembly. Replaced it and no more leak… for now.
    Thanks.

    Thank you for posting this video. I also have a 89 Chevy, the fitting snapped in half also. I was quoted 400.00 to fix it. Your video and easy instructions are greatly appreciated. Great job!

    Good job. I did the same thing on my '94 Chevy p/u. Who needs a "qucik connector" there, anyway.

      Vans World the new hose worked but now in replacing pretty much my whole cooling system, cant find where my coolant is draining to and no sign of bad head gasket so lets hope it all works lol

      Let me know what you find out. I’m curious where your coolant is going. We sold my Chevy. But it ended up loosing coolant and never could find out where is was going either.

    if you don't want it snap off do this. Get a torch with MAP gas. the yellow bottle. and heater hot. use a cordless impact drill with the needed socket on it. and start tapping the drill trigger. then after 10 taps hold the trigger down and pray it works.

    • @darronvon
      @darronvon 4 года назад +3

      it is the impacts that drive it lose . not the pounds of torque your cranking down on it.. also aluminum to iron or steel after time will always bond like a guy and a girl at a kegger.

    I really, really, really really really appreciate you making this video.
    I got a 92 GMC with the 4.3 looks like the same GM mickey mouse setup. I figure they did this quick connect bs just to speed the assembly line up 10 seconds or something.

      Haha. Yeah it’s a very poor design. Good luck getting the old one out if your changing the whole thing out like I did. 😁👍

    YUP! I feel your pain! I had mine break before and had to ream it out. It was a real PIA, but I did clean the threads with a pick. Be sure to put anti-seize on the threads!!! I think it comes with thread-locker on the threads.

      Nope. I couldn’t find a tap big enough at any local parts store. I just had to work the threads on the nipple slowly

    Do you happen to know the sizes of the hoses that are connected to the heater core? I'm trying to flush my system & wanted to buy hoses to connect to them to flush it.

    • @VansWorld
      @VansWorld  3 года назад +1

      Sure don’t. But the local parts store should know. It would be the same size as the heater core hose.

    you have to throw away the antifreeze first ?or you do not need to throw away the antifreeze?

    • @sergiozamorano6413

      Yes you have to throw out the antifreeze because the intake is full of antifreeze and you won't be able to chip and clean the adapter in case it breaks down
