But Bali not have waves hehehe , scammers only surf , only other island in Indonesia still have but the best for surf is Australia or New Zealand and same price like 2024 Bali
Having lived in Thailand for a while i can say it ticks every box when compared to other countries, infrastructure, amenities are developed in Thailand and the prices is reasonable, i loved my time there and always recommend it to anyone.
Mate, I love you guys and I’ve virtually got a tear in my eye. I’ve spent the last three years trying to work out where I’m gonna put my roots down, Philippines,, Bali or Thailand but I’ve chosen Thailand for all the reasons you mentioned well done. Hopefully we see you guys in Thailand and good luck with your baby.
Me too! 😊 Up until last year I was considering Bali as I have so many great friends there. The price and most of all the traffic has changed my mind on it.
Thailand is the best, small cities are so pretty, Bangkok is so amazing and many modern condos, subway and sky train are nice, thai food is the best bro
I have been to Bali 7 times and Thailand 20plus times, give me Thailand every time, the people are friendly and not aggressive, and even though it is 6 years since i was in Bali at that time food and drink was a lot more expensive than Thailand. On my last visit to Thailand, May this year, to Karon beach which is relatively expensive I ate for $4AUD to $6 , beer at restaurants and bars $3 a massage $16 . Accomodation in a good room in the centre of Karon around $45 a night.
Try another place outside Bali if you come to Indonesia.. you can find one of the cheapest food, accomodation,etc... Jogjakarta, Malang, n Bandung on the island of Java, or Medan, Toba lake in Sumatra, Manado in Sulawesi.. or islands east of Bali such Lombok,Sumba,Flores,Alor..
Living in Bali for 10 years and never go surrounded Island ?crazy !! There are a lot of island in Indonesia beside Bali....Gili, Lombok,Flores,Sumba,Sumbawa,Alor etc... And Its only on lesser Sunda islands... Near Singapore there are Riau island such Batam,Bintan,Natuna,Belitong etc... Near Philippines there are Bunaken,Manado, Banggai,Morotai etc..
I used to live in Thailand for years, and now call Bali home and life has never been better. Comparing an Island to a country is not a fair comparison. The untapped opportunities, natural beauty & hidden treasures of greater Indonesia are incredible. Now that's a fair comparison and why I live in Bali!
I chose to live in Bali over Thailand. I'm comfortable financially so I don't care about the financial side and I also bought a villa in a rice field in canngu. I've done both Thailand and Bali and I feel like Bali has a much better community and energy. I feel like Thailand has a very violent almost seedy masculine energy while Bali is very maternal femnine. Thailand definitely has better beaches and much less traffic. But for lifestyle Baki suited me much better. I feel like the expats in Bali are much high class also. And Bali doesn't attract the sex seeking old dirty men. Each to their own. I bet u would have chose Bali if money wasn't an issue for u though. I love it so much
We retired to Bali 10 months ago. You're right about costs, Canggu is the most expensive place in Bali. We live 4km behind jimbaran a nice place in the south of Bali. If you want to retire and your on a budget looking in the North is really cheap just doesn't have night life as much.(:-)
Great video and information! I literally just came back from Indonesia the other day and my gosh, the traffic in Canggu and even Ubud as well was absolutely WILD! Even though bikes are quicker, they had to do some true SE Asia weave style driving😂. I did notice that in Thailand when I was there this past November, outside of Bangkok, it was a bit more controlled and chilled compared to Bali and same thing with the food. The food in Bali was absolutely delicious however it has gone up in price compared to Thailand and a lot more local shops, restaurants, stands, etc. plus the food price still. I had a blast in both places and will go back to both places for sure. So glad you two are enjoying Thailand! Hope you’re well on this new journey👏🏾😃.
Best vlog update Loyd and vey timely. What are your thoughts on buying a condos in Thailand, in particular in Hua Hin? Currently looking at selling up here in Aust and doing the move to Thailand. Retirement could be 15 years sooner! Cheers for any advice on how I can make this happen with no hassles.
great video! we are planning our winter . have done thailand in jan for a month and loved it. was thinking about bali this year but youre right. the prices are wild wild wild . plus thailand has left hand smokes :)
Thanks for the video, I have never paid anywhere near $6 for a coffee in Bali, but then again I have never been to Canggu, so many wonderful, inexpensive places in Bali but I also find Thailand very affordable :) No traffic jams in Candidasa, Amed, Lovina, Pemuteran and Medewi (which also has excellent surf !)
If you like comfortable, you must go to Thailand. But if you like adventure, you must go to Indonesia. Indonesia not for holiday. Indonesia is for traveling.
10:43 in the background you can see where I used to work in Ubud. Loved my year there -- traffic and all. But, yah; Thailand is next. For all the same reasons.
Bali was my fav destination years ago. Now i wouldnt step foot on the place. Over run with tourists the tiny island just cannot cope with the garbage. The beaches are not great! I live 2 minutes from one of the best beaches in west australia, spotless white sand, clear crystal waters, no hawkers and few people.
Bali is up there in price like living in Australia...but better for surfing than Thailand. I haven't surfed in years so it's now irrelevant. I recently travelled Thailand for almost a month and my Total Transport costs for my trip was $400 AUD. Of that amount $210 was getting to and from Sydney Airport

Biggest thing that stands out to me is INFRASTRTURE bali good when your young and what not but Thailand is so much better for a real life and retirement
Did both Bali and Thailand less than a year ago, one month each. I agree with most of what was said in this video. But I did not find Bali to be bad at all ( I don't think you said Bali was bad.) There are plenty of white sand beaches. I rented a scooter for the whole month and drove all around the island once, and through the middle couple of times. I had no issues with traffic. Central Ubud and Canggu were hectic at times, but I took it all in stride. Other drivers were courteous enough that traffic did not seem to matter that much.

I love Bali as well but I had not been there since the spring of 2020. I’ve heard that lodging had become quite expensive from multiple RUclipsrs and personal friends who had been visiting for 2 years and another who lived their for 13 years who just moved back to USA for personal reasons. I had been visiting Bali every winter from 2012-2020 and what I expected from traveling around that part of the world, I found that Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia were all cheaper than Bali regarding accommodations, food, entertainment. Before I departed Bali in February 2020 & lodging prices were going down because everyone were leaving the island due to the pandemic. I understand, that’s kind of when you guys arrived a year later. I think that would have been the best time to be there really. Lol.
Maybe Thailand is more comfortable and easier to live than Indonesia but for the attractions and nature beauty Indonesia is for more interesting and much more beautiful than Thailand
Well said Lloyd! After just leaving a 2 mon stay in Bali, and now coming over to Vietnam, there is no comparison. Bali is NUTS. The traffic is unbearable, everything is over priced like crazy. We left canada for Bali to actually save some money on daily expenses, and found ourselves spending as much or more then we did in canada. Food is ridiculously expensive with the western influence taking over and bringing there western prices with them. Air BnBs and accommodations are going up by the day. It's quickly looking like it will be the next Canada which is terrible. Definitely would not recommend Bali anymore. And most of the beaches are crap, plus the locals charge you to park and go on them. They have posts set up everywhere to charge people. And once you get on the beach, if you want to go into a bar or restaurant for a drink in-between sun tanning, most of the places have decided to set a "Minimum spending limit" which you will have to agree to spend before they will let you come in and sit down. One place tried told us we had to spend a minimum of half a million Indonesian rupiah just to come sit down. We just laughed at them and left. Would not recommend. Here in Vietnam, the beach is huge and beautiful, AND FREE, weather is HOT, sand is white. Food is pretty cheap unless you're eating at any place with a western influence.

I used to live in Thailand and also loved it, as well as Vietnam, Philippines & Cambodia and now happily settled in Ubud, Bali (FYI, North side of Ubud is not busy with all the conveniences). It's subjective of course, but I can tell you, as an investor & property developer, the ROI & long term gains in Bali still outweigh Thailand.
You should make your title Thailand VS Indonesia not Thailand VS Bali. Thailand is country not just island or province as Bali. I'm Thai most of RUclips always make Thailand VS Bali doest make sense. If some one make content Canada VS Bali how do you feel. Or Huahin VS Bali should be better.
Why even compare at one time you were both Bali I don’t think this is good comparing 2different places both are beautiful RUclipsrs go where it is cheap they don’t go to Europe or USA so Thailand is probably the cheapest at the moment

BALI
INDONESIA vs THAILAND ..
Thailand is a country and Bali is an island. Not same.
After 14 years in Bali moving to Lombok
You left the 'L' out between the P and the a. And not enough people are blowing the whistle on it.
Bali is too crowded... Leave bali and move to Thailand pleaseeee 😅
Thailand . No contest. Way more reasons to live here than Bali. Not even close.
only Bali? lol
Java island Vs Thailand.....j
You can not compare prices in Bali from just after covid with the actual prices.
Yes you can, they are the same even now.. Bali is a rip off..

Again, comparing bali (a small province) in indonesia with thailand (country). 😢
Next..THAILAND VS LOMBOK... 😅😅😅
Yeah but... Thailand is a Country, Bali is an Island. The untapped opportunities, natural beauty & hidden treasures in the greater context of Indonesia (If we're comparing countries) are incredible!
Spending $20 dinner you eat expensive
Soon The Russian and Ukrainian moving into Thais beach like the Lebo takes over Cronulla Beach.
We just bought 25k$ 100% own apartment in south Europe, what’s the point pay that price for only rent hehehe
Bali traffic is terrible
You should make your title Thailand VS Indonesia not Thailand VS Bali. Thailand is country not just island or province as Bali. I'm Thai most of RUclips always make Thailand VS Bali doest make sense. If some one make content Canada VS Bali how do you feel. Or Huahin VS Bali should be better.
yes, I'm Indonesian and I'm agree with you
outside bali, its even either more crowded or polluted or rubish or unmanageable
Yes, It's unfair.. better comparing Bali vs Phuket....
yes theres no such thing as bali vs thailand
its either bali vs phuket/ samui
or indonisia vs thailand
a lot of dumb and ignorant people around!
yes they could not even get the basic right! 😂
Why even compare at one time you were both Bali I don’t think this is good comparing 2different places both are beautiful RUclipsrs go where it is cheap they don’t go to Europe or USA so Thailand is probably the cheapest at the moment
Thailand look better actually
Rigth.VDO well i think that...
