One of my favorite Miss USA evening gown shows! Very elegant...

Agreed. So elegant, and the music really added to it.

Fun fact: I'm the one who suggested to the MUO President at the time to take the "Stairs of Death" away and move into a runway format. :) (This was in 1997, and in 1998 the stairs were taken out.)

@@michaelstrahan2.0 Why?! You could have suggested less stairs. Now every single stage is a runway and it's boring and annoying.

@latinoguy They used those same stairs at Miss USA 1995 and the girls talked afterwards about high those stairs were and how they were nervous to come down them in their heels. So for 1996, they added a railing for them to hold onto.

@@michaelstrahan2.0good idea! It's okay to have stairs, but not that many. It's hard walking in high heels and a long evening gown.

It is safe to say that all the pageantsTrump owns were better before he took over. I have been watching the older pageants and the contestants dressed more elegantly. Now everyone wears cut out gowns more suited for a strip club than a beauty pageant .

The winner of this pageant (who ended up being Dorito's girl, in a 98 Degrees video, married to Mario Lopez for a short while, and on the show "Eve") and the winner of 1995's pageant had nearly identical dresses!

Yes. Her gown, her hair, the confident look on her face, how she presented herself, the walk, the final pose as the music concludes -- all magical. The high score was well-deserved, there.

Love Tennessee... But the why do they have to walk down the stairs... they should have teirled to see the back side of the dress at least... something might be dramatic... But I have noi idea why Texas was there... during the beginning of the show... her preliminary was 8.98... and DC was 8.99 and DC is not in the top 10... WTH?
